Easy to navigate in and out of, tiny boutique on Ventura Blvd. Over the past 8 years I have purchased several blouses, summer dresses, hats, sandals, slippers, wallets, pants, sweaters, a cashmere poncho and a blazer recently. They were so friendly, went the extra mile and helped me pick out a perfect gift set and wrapped it beautifully which was so helpful since I am here visiting a friend for her birthday from Scottsdale Arizona. Andi did an amazing job wrapping the gift and took so much time and paid extra attention to detail. The other two woman were so sweet and quick in working together to check me out, allowing me to write out the birthday card while Andi and another wrapped my gift. I walked in this store today with my friend and we had a terrible experience. The woman working there is extremely rude and obnoxious. She was conversing with another person, talking personal staff and literally screaming so everyone else can hear. She ignored us and didn't even bother to move out of our way or notice us when we tried to look at some clothes on the rack next to them. My friend tried some things on ( she was helped by a sweet young girl, the only nice one in the store) and while I was waiting the other woman kept talking/screaming walking around. The ladies at Soto Lifestyle are friendly and kind and are on hand to assist with anything you need. Their clothes are truly the softest items I have ever felt in my life. They prices are very reasonable and the selection is plentiful. They have great home items and books as well. A friend and I were walking by this store when something caught our eye so we poked her heads in to inquire about the price and the lady was so rude to us right off the bat. We were both caught so off guard and said we wouldn't want to spend our money somewhere like that anyways. Did I mention we are both people of color and it was apparent from the jump when my friend approached the lady how uninviting she was? I wouldn't spend a dime at a place like this. I have been in here a few times but walk past it daily. Today I saw a backpack in the window and went in with my dog. God help me...I have no idea what got into her but she was like a jumping bean. She knocked over sweaters and threw herself at the staff...and they were so kind and assured me they love dogs. One of the clerks got the backpack for me to look at and I bought it. They have two new customers now. My dog and I adore them. I was a little shocked to find the same backpack online for 1/3 of the price but I still loved shopping here! read more

I would like to thank the lady behind the register for being kind enough to open the door at 5:50pm (as they close at 6pm) for me as I wanted to inquire about a nice blazer on display. For future reference though, do not tell a customer that the blazer will not fit me in front of other customers and make me feel like a cow, and then have the audacity to ask me to come back tomorrow. Clearly, you have poor judgement, and that is not good customer service, not even close. I will find a BETTER blazer elsewhere. I love browsing this shop as they have a great selection of items you can't find anywhere else. When I go into a shop I don't like being helped. I enjoy silently looking around enjoying the moment. I love that the help is there if I need to ask a question but they don't bother you . They get it. Sometimes I see something I want and sometimes I don't so leave without feeling guilty about not purchasing anything. They are understanding and don't seem to mind . I have been really excited to check out this new store. At first glance, the items look great, but after trying things on, the clothing is very cheaply made. Lots of see through clothing that should not be see through, like leggings and skirts. Another thing is the staff is rude. There was nobody else shopping in the store and I was not warmly greeted. They waited until my hands were full to ask if I wanted a fitting room. Then, I had to over hear the two women chatting about a recent splinter injury and about how they thought "more stuff was supposed to be going on sale on Monday". This made me think. Gosh, why can't I get the sale prices now? Then, when I pointed out a skirt had a run in it, Suzzie said "oh, do you want me to put it back for you?" in a condescending tone. When I mentioned that I liked some of the items, but some were damaged, Suzzie didn't acknowledge this and just said "oh, ok well have a nice day in a rude tone". I would fire the staff right away if I owned Soto. I hope the store succeeds, but there needs to be better training/staff and a manager on site. And quality control of the merchandise. read more

Went today while waiting for a dinner reservation. The storefront intrigued me with the cutsie home goods and comfortably cute dressed mannequins. The store was clean and organized and the ladies who worked there were super sweet! I only gave 4 stars because of price. The clothing style here shouts comfortable but cute and you can still look "put together" while wearing moto leggings and an off the shoulder sweater Although I will always be open to paying more for high quality things, I still feel hesitant to purchase a $30 tank top- guess we will see how the quality holds up since I DID purchase it (along with an amazingly soft sweater and a cardigan) I will be going back for sure! read more

I am not sure what all the bad reviews are about, I've shopped here many times and have always had a wonderful experience. The women always greet me with a smile and go out of their way to help me whether it be starting a dressing room, offering suggestions or calling other stores to find my size. They have a great variety of current styles and are no more expensive then other boutiques in the area. They have great gifts and jewelry, I even buy candles for my home here. A lot of people mention the stores return policy but I've shopped at other local boutiques and it's the exact same policy so maybe they're just used to mall shopping. read more

This place is ok. Their stuff is super cute, mostly clothes and some gift items. However, every time I've purchased from here the clothing has basically fallen apart immediately after. Either gotten completely misshapen when washed, zipper broken, etc. and I mean after one wear. Not surprising when you notice that they're not necessarily selling from quality indie brands but just more of the same mass produced fashion you could get elsewhere. Love this little cutesy boutique! It's just my style. Feminine and chic with a leeeeeetle bit if of hipster added to the mix! You can find everything from casual wear to a full outfit for a night out on the town. They also have fabulous purses and great jewelry. The prices are pretty cheap considering it's a boutique. Mostly everything is under $100. Tops usually range from $30-$60. Yes, that may not be what you spend at Forever 21 or H&M but the quality of their clothing makes up for that for that factor. Best prices on Ventura Blvd. It's a little store so if you are window shopping be careful not to pass it up. Tons of great tops from $25 to $35 dollars. Plus there is a rack with 50% off that. Amazing. Beware if you have hips like me. Lots of the clothes were cut square at the moment which is. Perfect for a tall then model. I am more the hourglass. The sales team was extremely patient and guided me to the best fitting items for my body type. They didn't even cringe with the pile if clothes that didn't work and needed to be folded again. They mad me feel more like a good friend than a customer. So finally I bought an adorable sweater and a sheer shirt. I was happily surprised by the cute shopping bag that was sewn if fabric and looked more like a little purse. Good call Soto for such a cute earth friendly bag. read more

The store has very cute clothing, but as a new customer, you get a cold reception from the sales associates. For example, I returned to the store the same day after I finished with work and the ladies that worked in the store completely ignored me, like I was a pest or something. I tried on a few shirts in the fitting room and not one associate asked if I needed something when I emerged from the dressing room. Also, when I was standing in line, the two or three available associates did not even acknowledge me, neither did the older lady behind the cash wrap counter. When I called to complain about how rudely I was treated, the older lady was curt and wanted my name. It should be the other way around! So, I'll spend my hard-earned money elsewhere, where it will be appreciated!!! read more

My husband got me a gift certificate for Mother's Day. He chose this store over others in the neighborhood because he said the staff was so nice. He was right! I went in and looked with my husband, 3 year old, and baby in tow and they were so nice to the kids! One staff member was especially sweet to my daughter who wanted to pretend she was one of the mannequins in the display window! I found several great items of clothing and had a hard time deciding. I also appreciated that there were clothes that fit someone "normal sized" meaning more like a size 10 or 12 and not just teeny tiny women. I returned a few days later and finally made my purchase and the staff remembered me and were so helpful. I was at Mod Nails down the street and I started talking about shopping and the lady next to me recommend that I check out Soto so I strolled down the block and now I go every time I get my nails done! I wax greeted by a smiling face and was I men that it was my first time in their store and she immediately started showing me through the store and went out of her way to convince me to buy several pieces that I didn't need but I don't regret buying because I wear them all! I love the soft feel and the fabrics and the fact that are up to date on the latest colors and trends. I've had no problems with returns or exchanges. I have NEVER met a rude person in that store wether it be employee OR customer! One time when I went the sun had gone down and I got a phone call from my family checking on me to see if I was okay because I was having such a great time shopping and the conversation that I lost track of time. I've bought gifts from a candle for my home and a gift for a man a baby shower gift,jewelry for my mom and a couple of shirts for myself. I work as a caretaker to a little boy who has severe cerebral palsy. I adore him! I went in here hoping to buy some cute comfortable clothes that I could wear to work. He's probably getting bored of looking at my black PUMA hoodie, so I thought I'd buy some clothes with soft colors and material. I hold him a lot, so I know he would appreciate the soft fabric. I walked in and the sales person was laughing with a couple girls in the back of the (small) store. That's nice, I like the sound of laughter. After a couple minutes I had a question and figured once she says hello I'll ask. It wasn't so important that I needed to interrupt, you know? The clothing is incredibly soft with light colors, I know Noah will love! I look back at them again, for sure she's going to acknowledge me. I mean they are all laughing and seem really friendly. Ok...still nothing. Now I'm the weirdo standing there smiling and staring. Alright this is awkward, I'm out. As I leave and am behind the glass door I see the sales person looking at me. Wait, I'm gone now...are you making sure I didn't steal anything? Was my PUMA hoodie not fancy enough for you to even acknowledge me while I was IN your store? M. This is such a cute Lil boutique...lots of cool stuff gifts..I bought so far 3 necklaces, a very cute Kimono style wrap & a cute pair of black dress sandals...the manager Abbey is a great sales lady & with great customer service I accidentally broke a necklace 2 weeks after buying I took it back & there were no more in store right away she made a few inquires & within 2 days she had one waiting for me no questions asked...I really love that...I definitely would recommend this little gem of a store. Main letdown was the Sales staff, 3 women behind the counter fumbling around trying to avoid eye contact and look busy while I stood patiently for several minutes waiting to be acknowledged. When I spoke up to ask my simple question, the response was dry, and as if it was a bother to them. In this economy; with all the local competition and internet shopping selling nearly identical items....the EASIEST thing to do is treat a potential customer well and you have business. Biggest rip off store! They made over 80% profit off cheap qupid brand shoes they sold me for $65! I found them on eBay for a total of $30 with shipping after I bought them.. The whole store overall has cute things but they are all cheap material marked up to 4x the actual worth! Don't get tricked thinking just cuz it's expensive it's good.. I'm on the fence about this store. Pluses: 1) The younger sales staff could not be any more helpful and friendly. 2) The clothes are cute. 3) Price point is good. Minuses: 1) Return policy is store credit only. They don't tell you this at the time of purchase. It's in small font at the bottom of the receipt. 2) Today I had an experience reminiscent of the movie "Mean Girls" where Rachel McAdams is told to go to Sears while shopping at a store where they only have clothes in sizes, 1,3 & 5. I asked if a hoodie on a mannequin came in XL. The sales woman very tersely replied, "We don't have anything in XL." Sorry I asked. I came to Soto randomly, so glad I did. They have such a cute selection of clothes, jewelry and accessories. The store is actually a lot more spacious once you walk inside. Everything is affordable and all the employees were really nice to me. I met the owners too who were also super sweet.
