Finally we found some decent Chinese food...once eat in / once take out. Food arrived at table steaming hot! Downside of eating in is that the ventilation is not that great so you will leave with clothes smelly a bit greasy. Take out was on time and hot. Interesting t hat our General Tsao was packaged with sauce separate so we could add at home and the breaded chicken would not get soggy. We will do take out here more often. read more

Not a bad sushi restaurant in Orléans. It is not one of those sushi buffet, and it is more of fusion sushi restaurant. I ordered a stir fried eggplant with black bean sauce and tofu veggies, for some reason the taste is very bland and I suspect the chef put the sugar, by mistake, instead of salt, usually dish like this w/ black bean sauce should be very tasty, but it needs to add salt. I would try to make it at home next time to make it the way I think it should be. Sushi roll is nicely presented. Overall, I think people should go there to give it a try. I like it because it is not sushi buffet. read more

I am so impressed! Here goes! Parking: there is plenty of parking because it's in a small shopping centre area. Therefore this will not be an issue. Atmosphere: beautiful layout, even romantic. Perfect for date night! Servers: they are super attentive and friendly. No issues at all. Ordering: we went for dinner, therefore we ordered a la carte. However, they do have an AYCE lunch menus that ends at 230pm. It is small but if it's as good as their regular dinner menu, it's totally worth it. The lunch menu is $17 PP. Food: the food and presentation was absolutely amazing and delicious! Just wait until you see the pictures OMG the sushi was fresh and just melts in your mouth. Even the miso soup was above and beyond. I can't wait to return. Prices: the dinner menu is not cheap but it's worth every $$$$$! We paid $74 for 2 sushi rolls, 2 main courses, and 1 dessert. That is similar to what you pay for AYCE sushi dinner at other places. read more

I've eaten in 1,001 restaurants worldwide and this was a low point. Unclear menu: hitch pitch of Asian and vaguely fusion dishes. Sushi tasted fishy: far from fresh. Basil chicken stir fry had VERY little basil. One small leaf. And the chicken was completely tasteless. Utterly. And the dish was mainly... onion. A LOT of onion. This was English cuisine more than Asian cuisine. Avoid this place, is my advice. Worst restaurant meal I've eaten for several years. More. Probably ten years. Wow. read more

The good: great atmosphere for a cozy date in an intimate setting. We ordered great starters, Gyoza which were pork cabbage dumpling and then we ordered two from there exceptional menu, highly recommended as their signature creations: Miso Salmon and my FAV Fusion 10 PC's which highlights lobster, avocado, asparagus, mixed with crab mayo etc..the shushi chef uses a torch for flavor and aesthetics. Nice decor. The bad: A bit pricy but hey great presentation! Not a long selection of wine or sake. Traditional desserts-fries banana and ice cream -small portion :( The ugly: the restaurant is secluded mixed in a small mall type local and limited parking. I went to Soul Stone for the first time last year, for my birthday. My family and I enjoyed our meal and had no complaints at all. I had the Sashimi Salad and it was one of my favourite meals. Recently, I went back with my partner. Excited to share the experience together, we ordered the lemongrass chicken and the Thai tofu and vegetable dish. When we got our food, the serving was small, and the rice bowl with it was also much smaller than expected (especially for the price). The "chicken" with lemongrass was extremely thin and tiny pieces, and the meat was very dark and tough. That was not like any chicken either of us had ever seen before. The flavour of the lemongrass and Thai basil dishes were lacking, almost flavourless. We both left still hungry, disappointed, and confused at what happened to our "chicken". Not to mention, it was expensive for the amount and quality of food we both received. Maybe the sushi is why the restaurant gets good reviews as many other tables were eating sushi, but our meals were certainly not worth it and we will not go back. read more

Our family of four had a lovely dinner here this evening. Made a reservation online and was seated promptly when we arrived. Throughout the meal our waitress was attentive, informative and not pushy. This was our first time at Soul Stone and were given time to read the menu as well as ask some questions. First up a complimentary veggie roll topped with homemade mango sauce which was fresh and tasty. We ordered 2 appies, mixed tempura and edamame. Both of which were very delightful. Entrees were a variety of Bento Box, Sashimi and rolls. All prepared to perfection. We love our sushi and have had difficulty finding good quality sushi since moving to Ottawa. Not interested in the all you can eat bland stale offerings we've seen at other establishments. Soul Stone is the real deal when it comes to sushi. Basically you pay for what you get. Higher in pricing for some items but well worth it if you love quality sushi. At the end of the meal the waitress informed us that 20% of all sales this week were being donated to CHEO. As nice touch as they promote non msg, healthy alternatives. We'll definitely be back! Thank you Soul Stone for making our night. read more

I have been here for in person dining many times and always enjoyed it very much. The food was always tasty and unusual. This time for the first time I ordered takeout, which I came down and picked up myself. It was supposed to be ready at five I got there at 4:50 and the food was sitting there, it was just warm at best. Beef ribs were so over cooked, they were completely dried out only the sauce saved them at all. The beef with broccoli could best be described as slimy. The fried rice was pretty standard fried rice. I don't know what to think about this place now because I've always liked it but this was the kind of food you get in a Chinese restaurant in rural Ontario or rural anywhere in Canada. We attended for Dinner - our Groupon Coupon was getting close to expiring. We started with a Hot & Sour Soup - a friend of my once said this in describing the perfect Hot & Sour Soup: "it has to be a delicate and perfect balance between the competing flavours". This Hot & Sour Soup was the closes to perfection that I have tasted in a long time. Our knowledgeable waiter from NB recommended the Spicy Red Tuna roll as a must if you were only going to order 1 plate of sushi which was excellent and oh so fresh. Our mains were Seafood Chow Mein which was very good with such a delicate but tasty sauce. My partner ordered the Strawberry Prawns which were unique and interesting, very good but you will want to be in a group to order this plate. "Too much of a good thing" We split the prawns among us but 2 each would have been perfect. Prepared to perfection and would be perfect if you could order this as a side. Both dishes included a good blend of vegetables which complemented the mains perfectly. I had to try a side of Baby Bok Choy - again well prepared in a light oil and garlic served hot - again worth the cost. This restaurant is an excellent addition to the Orleans and well worth the visit. Next time I will try the "All you can eat" at a fixed price "noon only" temporary speciaL. read more

Nice little cozy restaurant, but our experience was terrible. It took 1:30 before receiving all of our food. The service was mediocre. Plus, it was way too hot in the restaurant. The california & spicy tuna rolls were delicious. The specialty rolls were awfull. A little more expensive then other places. Overall experience was very disappointing. read more

I had the all-you-can-eat lunch here. I have never been to an AYCE were you don't write down what you want or order it on an i-Pad. Here you have to tell the waitress what you want and she writes it down. The food was ok. The AYCE menu does not have too many items. Ice cream is also not included in the buffet. The only dessert they have is fried banana, it was actually pretty good though. They wrap the banana in a spring roll wrapper then fry it. Much better than battered banana at other places. The AYCE is only for lunch and only on weekdays, so you can't have it for dinner or on the weekend. read more

Excellent Chinese & Thai spot finally in Orleans. Everything is so good and hot with a very decent selection on the menu. Ate in a couple of times and did take out also. The Chinese food is excellent i.e. Crispy beef and general Tao being my fav. A little more expensive than your regular Chinese take out but worth it. read more

Like with so many others, this restaurant is cutting down on the portions and ingredients once they have made a name for themselves. Take-out portions are significantly smaller (about a third) than before (I know this because I save the containers from previous orders) and also there is supposed to be chicken in the chicken pad thai. This was a favorite in Orleans but I guess I have to look elsewhere now. I did not mind paying the higher price for the quality before but please don't treat people like fools. read more

I mean it's OK. I ordered their "signature" dish JAPANESE teriyaki with beef. It's slightly pricey so I was expecting a certain dish like beef freshly prepared on grill, perhaps a few mushrooms, an assortment of veggies al dente, a slightly sweet and thick teriyaki sauce and rice. My hopes were dashed a bit when the beef appeared as shopping mall quality rubbery soaked in watery sauce flank steak that was marinated for what seemed like weeks. The veggies were cooked ok and they were freshly chopped however rice was 3 dollars extra. What??? I mean it was supposed to be a Japanese dish, their signature in fact, and what I got was a slightly upgraded Chinese restaurant beef with broccoli. Sorry it's a bit of a fail. read more

It was only OK. I have had better sushi at SushiKan or similar places. I think it's overpriced for the quality of sushi that you get. The waiter brought us complimentary sushi from the chef, which is a deep fried sushi roll, but was not even hot. At best it was room temperature. Other dishes our group of 6 ordered were hit or miss. Some were pretty good, while others tastes stale or cold. I was very excited to try this place; hoping for a good Japanese restaurant in Orleans finally, but left disappointed. read more

Then asked for mild general Tao chicken. My mouth is still burning 15 min after eating it! The sushi was average at best. Epic fail guys! Never going back. One of the very best Sushi place in Ottawa! One day I will try something else on the menu beyond the sashimi combination.

Decided to try this place even though we live in central Ottawa so it was a bit of a trek. It's been open for about 6 months now. We wound up arriving on an unexpectedly busy night for them, and our table had accidental not been assigned any wait staff. Not a great start, but what they did next completely made up for it, and convinced me this is a business worth supporting. They were not only completely apologetic when they found out the error, the service was attentive and helpful, but not too cloying. To make up for the error, the chef himself came to apologize and they prepared a dessert for us, no charge. Mistakes happen, but to me the sign of a promising and strong business, is how they treat their customers when a mistake happens, and this place gets it! The food was also really good. The sushi combinations were interesting and fresh. Very tasty, and the presentation was artistic and interesting. The tuna tatami was really nice, served on a bed of onions and the onion pancakes were yummy. I also really liked the Canadian role. The decor of the restaurant itself was very lovely and welcoming. A great place to linger over a meal and enjoy good food. Well worth the trek to Orleans. read more

We came here for lunch. They have an all you can eat customer appreciation tasting menu. It has sushi, some Thai and some Szechwan items. This works well for us, as my wife loves Asian food but doesn't like sushi and I LOVE sushi. The assorted tempura was well cooked and not soggy delish! The crispy beef was tasty and definitely crispy. The Thai coconut chicken curry is a yellow to red curry and not too spicy, it almost taste like an Indian curry, it was divine. The service is casual, which is great for us as we don't want to dine and rush off. They also make a great Cosmo. read more

We are so glad we found this gem in Orleans. The dishes we ordered were beyond our expectations. The pressed sushi was delicious, stone steak was flavorful, sashimi platter was so fresh and presented beautifully. We could tell that the chefs prepared everything with create attention as all our dishes came out looking amazing. The service was great and we loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Having tried sushi at many other restaurants and even in Japan, I would say Soul Stone ranks pretty high up in our list of favourites! Great meal and fantastic food quality. The servers were excellent: very attentive, polite, and and added a few nice touches throughout the evening. We had the bento box which is always a nice variety, but could not resist a few extra plates of sashimi (very fresh and high quality fish!) could not recommend more! The restaurant itself is smaller and very cozy with great decor. The prices are so reasonable considering what you can pay downtown for a similar and even inferior meal. read more

Excellent service and good food! Beautiful decor and funky, a great asset for Orleans. The soup were good and so were the dumplings. The stone steak was outstanding. Need to try the sushi to give it and overall good review but I highly enjoyed it and didn't have to worry about parking or traffic downtown, I wish them success!! read more
