But Gorgie Appliances is a really good local business and when I popped in to check it out, the owner really did know a lot about which appliance would suit your exact needs rather than just trying to offload the most expensive one on you, which you don't really get in the big stores. The store also orders in specific parts of appliances that you may need as well as fixing any problems you may have. Overall its a great local shop where you can get an appliance tailored to your personal needs.

Had to review this company as we just had a washing machine fitted by them today…read more Originally, the machine was due to be fitted on Thursday but due to a mix up by our landlord, the wrong machine was ordered. The fitter apologised (even though the mistake wasn't his) and offered to fit it on Saturday (his day off) as they were fully booked for Friday and he lived locally. He did a very neat job of removing the old machine, spilling hardly any water and cleaning up the little there was. As the new machine was a different model, the integrated door front had to be adjusted...he took the time to clean up the sawdust from drilling the new holes for the hinges! The new machine is now fitted, more neatly and perfectly level (unlike the original machine). All the packaging was taken away (in his van, rather than filling up our bin) which was a very nice touch. Before leaving he took the time to explain the controls and settings, again a nice helpful touch rather than just saying "there's the instruction manual". Overall, I was VERY impressed with the level of customer service and efficiency of the engineer.

So I'm reviewing this place not for their hoover fixing ability, which I'm sure is top notch, but as a hardware store. I've said before, good hardware stores a elusive at best. And this isn't a particularly good one. I went in to get a replacement bulb for my desk lamp. If my camera wasn't broken I've have taken a picture of the bulb to show you - it's a bit of a weird one. But they wanted £4.50 for a new one. Now I'm no hardware expert but I'm also know mug, and I know £4.50 for one light bulb is too much. Sure they were friendly, but save your pennies and try elsewhere.

I had to visit them three weeks after the original purchase date as the cashback offer for the washing machine I bought was requiring an extra document, and the staff were pleasantly helpful providing additional proof of purchase. There is a good variety for fridges, washing machines, cookers, microwaves, repairing options. Highly recommended!

Darius at Hex was the first person I spoke to that gave me any confidence that the laptop could be repaired. I took the laptop to him on Monday afternoon, and he was compassionate, transparent, and very professional in th communicating to me what the timeline and options would be. Hex fixed the computer well enough for me to use an external keyboard the next day and expedited ordering of a replacement laptop keyboard so that I had it back working this afternoon. Very reasonably priced and wonderful service. I could not be more pleased and I highly recommend Hex for your computer repair needs.

The prices here are generally pretty competitive and you will be likely to struggle to find somewhere else that can match both its range of products and prices - I certainly haven't come across such a place. In addition you get very good customer service and the staff know what they are talking about. It's well worth a visit especially if you have any repairs that need doing. I'm no expert on computers, but this does seem to be a good shop.
