Fred and his team far exceeded our expectations and they were well worth the money!! We will absolutely recommend them to our friends and family in the future. Their website is exceptionally convenient, and recommended lots of great songs for us to consider for our wedding. It was fun to fill out the song list together and we were able to export our playlist to Spotify to test it out while we were driving or doing other things. Fred was very responsive when we had questions, and he always made sure that we were on the same page. His experience and gregarious nature made our meetings before our wedding fun and easy. Fred was very flexible and accommodating when we dropped some last minute changes on him by incorporating a harpist into our ceremony and Photo Booth. We also got a copy of the Photo Booth pics which was much appreciated and unexpected. Fred had the backup songs the harpist was going to play in case there was an unforeseen event or emergency. He even showed up early to make sure the harpist had everything she needed such as a mic. His coordination, care, and time made a huge difference in our wedding. During our wedding Fred and his team kept everyone entertained when our after-ceremony pictures went long, and they were able to adapt our event timeline to fit the remaining time perfectly. I wish I could give Fred and Billy a million stars!! They were absolutely AMAZING from the minute they walked in and started setting up!!! Not only was their music perfect, they took care of me like a dear friend to relaxed my crazy nerves at the venue while waiting to get inside and set up as it seemed like we weren't going to have enough time. My wedding was about 8 months ago. Fred never called to check how things went with his backup DJ and I'm still fuming so here I am writing a review. We were excited to book Fred because our venue spoke highly of him. They said that he's a little pricier than others but worth it. Fred ended up having a family emergency (this happens, we were never upset about this) and sent his "best guy" Geo in his place. I did inquire as to the premium that we had paid specifically for Fred and he brushed off our concerns saying that we had already received a "discounted rate". Prior to the wedding I'd filled out the digital playlist worksheet with my first dance song, dance music requests, etc. and had separate phone conversations with both Fred and Geo to walk through it. Both times I talked about how I wanted to skip ahead 20 seconds or so into the first dance song (Shania Twain "you're still the one") to skip the part where she's talking and they both said that's standard because they get that song a lot. The day of, I walked through my vision for the grand entrance with Geo (was not complicated) and he indicated that he understood. Basically i just wanted him to play the song and my wedding party was going to form a dance line before we walked out. Well, he didn't understand and completely ruined it and it was the most awkward part of the wedding.... Until right after that when he played the WRONG first dance song. He played a different Shania Twain song, and when I told him that wasn't the correct song and he had the audacity to tell me the I was wrong because "that's what I told him". I went back and double checked my digital worksheet afterwards and he was very much mistaken. Now every time I hear my real first dance song on the radio I get upset because he's ruined it for us. All of the MC moments were awkward because he would stop the music to talk (rather than turning it down) and there was a long awkward pause before he started the music again- for example, he stopped the music to invite single ladies to the floor for the bouquet toss, waited for them to all get there before playing the music and everyone was just standing around. He did this awkward silence thing at every single MC moment from the grand entrance on. He didn't consider the request list at all during dancing, only requests made in person, and did not play 1 single slow dance song. On the day of I never expressed my absolute fury at this man (aside from my visible agitation at the first dance song) because I needed him to keep the party going- you're kind of at their mercy. But in the end I feel that I was duped, did not get what I paid for, and am left with some bad memories due to this DJ and no apology regarding the very obvious mistakes. We also hired our photo booth through them and I had a lot of trouble communicating with Michelle (non-responsive) until I told Fred and he stepped in to facilitate. On the day of they were very friendly and things went smoothly. I was surprised there were 3 of them because I'd only planned for 1- that's not a critique just a heads up when you're planning your vendor meals. read more

We were very impressed with DJ Fred from start to finish preparing for and executing our wedding! We chatted for 30 minutes on facebook videochat about a year out, a month out, and a week out, and everything turned out perfectly. Fred uses a nifty industry website allowing one to put in Must Play, Should Play, and Don't Play songs. He also volunteered to pay for a limited number of songs not in his library. On the day of our Wedding, Fred came dressed very suave and ready to entertain. He provided the microphone for the ceremony. Fred is awesome! We found Fred on the wedding venue's vendor list, and we don't think that we could have chosen a better DJ. We planned our wedding from Wisconsin, and Fred made the process very easy for us. We needed a bilingual DJ, and it turns out that he works with a bilingual MC, so it was perfect. We gave him a list of songs that we wanted to play at the wedding (he has a website where you can do this) and he did a really good job at choosing other songs that we really liked. He excelled at understanding our music taste. He was also able to provide music for our ceremony, which was very convenient for us. My wife and I got married in October (2019) at the Mission Inn Hotel and were SO lucky to have found DJ Fred and Sound Garden productions! We'd give him 100 stars out of 10. DJ Fred and his team are HANDS down the best and they went above and beyond to help make our wedding just perfect. We had a longer engagement and found Fred early on in our wedding planning. He was very clear about his pricing and is very fair. There were no hidden fees of any nature. He did our sound for our outdoor ceremony and indoor reception and everything was fantastic. Fred has a custom specialized online portal where my wife and I went through and added songs that he has in his database to a "must play" list, "do not play" list, a "maybe if we have time" list, and an area to add our own specially requested songs. Picking our music couldn't have been more fun or easy! There's also an area in the portal to list out the sequence of events which made planning the timing of the reception super easy. The reception couldn't have gone any better-largely thanks to Fred!!!! Music was one of my top priorities while planning my wedding. We loved working with Fred and his team for our wedding, I met him at a bridal show 18months before our planned event and won free "up lights", 18 months later he honored them when I called to get a quote (huge bonus to customer service/loyalty) I only called one other DJ and went running back to Fred. I explained to him my situation of needing a bilingual DJ and he assigned us DJ Armando who was incredible. In general I am a control freak who is very picky, let alone when planning an event of a lifetime. When I called Armando I was very adamant about not having a super chatty DJ during the reception, because our families aren't huge jokesters and like a calmer ambiance when eating and catching up etc. Armando listened patiently to my crazy demands and totally delivered the day of! Then there was the fact that I don't know the names to any songs I love or the artists which is a problem for obvious reasons. My husband is the music man but he was 500miles away which made it tricky but Armando suggested a phone conference with my husband which made both of us very happy because then we were all involved. Ultimately they (Fred and Armando) MUST be mind readers because they played all of our favorite songs at exactly the perfect moment. Another bonus was that during one of our face-to-face meetings I confessed to Armando what bad dancers my husband and I are and he totally understood and made us a game plan for our first dance since we chose a super long Cher song. He reminded us that we'd be "in the moment" so he didn't want to just pick a certain minute to cut it off, so the plan was for me to just glance at him. I definitely remember feeling SO grateful the day of when he closed the song up and was so graceful about it. One of the most comforting things about Fred and Armando was that they always assured me that I could call them with any questions or concerns I had and they were always professional on the other end of the phone and never sounded annoyed (a DJ I had called would charge extra for "advice calls" true story). Hiring them was the best part/decision we made regarding our wedding and vendors. It was the number one compliment my husband and I got regarding our wedding. I am talking 3-5 months after the event people would still tell us that our wedding had the best music/DJs. The dance floor wasn't big enough! The final note that I promised to add to my review is about their mind reading. Keeping in mind with how bad I am at titles and artists names, I grew up listening to the soundtrack of "Grease" with my little sister/MOH, none of this was mentioned to either Armando or Fred but towards the end of the night while everyone was on the dance floor and I was dancing with my MOH Armando/Fred put on "Summer Lovin" and no one captured the moment with a camera or anything but the look on my sisters face and mine was priceless and we both asked each other if we had told Fred or Armando about it being our favorite childhood duet song and neither of us had, it brought us to tears! Hands down the best dance floor moment.
