Freddie showed up and did a great job setting up the sound system for us. We got "Package A" for a fundraiser summer soiree we threw in Manhattan. Speakers were set up in the house and they were flexible with the package - offering us wireless mics and an extra microphone for the 2nd floor. Only reason why 4 instead of 5 stars, is because they were late to set-up (due to car emergency). Still showed up right before the event started, so it all worked out. Plus Freddie was very apologetic and helped us out to make things happen. So overall, great experience. I'll use them again for all future events. I highly recommend since it's packaged and they were great about accommodating very last minute. Not worrying about set-up and delivery is also a plus! read more

Overall an ok. Pretty old equipment, took a while to figure out hoe to properly connect it to the iPhone. we managed to get the speakers working, but the mic wasn't operational. They delivered and picked it up on time, however I have never received an order confirmation from them until I called a few days before our wedding. And a guy on the line sounded as if I was a major bother to him. If you are looking for a very budget option, you can find it here, but nothing spectacular. read more

I was producing a standup comedy show and found out last minute that I needed speakers and a microphone (the venue didn't have them). I called around to a bunch of different places and Sound Rentals NYC was the cheapest. I was a little skeptical at first, because generally when you pay less, you get less, but Freddy and his sound tech, Herman, were awesome. These guys were punctual, everything worked perfectly, and it couldn't have been easier. They came early, set everything up, tested it, and were waiting to pack it all up and bring it back as soon as the show was done. DON'T EVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! I don't want anyone to suffer what I just went through! I would give it zero stars! I am very dissatisfied & disappointed in Sound Rentals NYC. I am a professional musician, flown back to NYC, (my hometown), to sing in a wedding. The equipment arrived 30 mins late and we tried everything to get the 2 cordless mics to work (they didn't even provide a back up mic which I had actually ordered) for 1.5 hours til the performance. I ordered package A2. I had to sing & play my tracks through the venues house system. No one could take the broken equipment bc it was dropped off with the guy to set it up who didn't have a car. He tried, but because the mixer was so old and broken, none of the mic inputs worked. I am a singer. I had to scream/sing for 3 hours over the venues small house system for a party of 80 people! I lost my voice after! I couldn't accept payment for the event because I felt so terrible for the horrendous lack of sound! I was assured by the men that set up and picked the gear up, that I would get a full refund. I tipped these men generously. I've now been told by Freddy that a refund is not happening because he has to pay the workers. The equipment failed to work!! The speakers were so old and couldn't be balanced without feedback! Old EV speakers! Not the ones in the A2 picture package! I am taking this company to court and The Better Business Bureau. BE AWARE! This is a horrible business! A wedding was ruined because of this company's failure to guarantee and provide working equipment. When I called, Freddy, said they have now replaced the broken mixer. How does this fix the failure to deliver for my rental? I paid up front a month before the wedding. No response the day before or day of the event either when they were running late. I have everything documented via text, email and photo. I have 95 witnesses. They guarantee a full refund if they can't deliver. When I finally got Freddy on the phone (he will not answer your calls or emails when you are dissatisfied, and I had to call from someone else's phone because he wouldn't answer my number). I lost payment for the wedding, damage to my vocal cords and the rental fee I paid for broken equipment. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I am suing for the equipment rental and damages with a lawyer. I won't let this company rip off or ruin any persons important "once in a lifetime" event, ever again. Below is a picture of the tracks going through the sound system. After a lot of research, we decided to go with Sound Rental NYC for a charity fundraiser and scheduled a package and date. We ended up moving the event, and needed to cancel. We gave them 2 weeks' notice of the cancellation. Their website indicates "Full refund within 48 hours' notice." At first, they said they would refund 50%, but then admitted they were wrong and offered a full refund. It, however, has been over a month and we have NOT received the refund. They will not return my phone calls or emails. We are a small, non-profit. We need that refund. read more

Things started really well when I chose to use Sound Rentals NYC for an event hosted by my organization. The staff seemed super helpful and the pricing was great! Then the day of my event arrived and all of that customer service went out the window. Our technician, Freddie, arrived to set up the equipment. When you rent and PREPAY for a package, you expect to receive the entire package, right? That is not the case here. I didn't realize that we were missing some items until about 30 minutes after the set-up was completed. I will own that I should have checked the set-up more thoroughly. However, I put my trust in Freddie, since he's been doing this for a while. When I called and asked Freddie to bring the missing parts of my package deal, he became rather rude on the phone and refused to bring WHAT I PAID FOR. When I asked if it would be possible to refund a few dollars since he delivered an incomplete package, he threatened to come pick up all of the equipment, which would leave me with no sound system for my event. I didn't want to escalate things, so I got off of the phone and made the best of a terrible situation. When Freddie came to pick up the equipment, he wouldn't even speak to us and not once did he apologize for his mistake. Just a word of caution, the service here is absolutely horrendous and they take advantage of their trusting customers. I would not recommend using this service. read more

Freddy provided us with an initial consultation where he told us what equipment would serve best for our purposes. We realized on the day of the event that we also needed connections for music from a different device. Freddy brought the necessary equipment at no additional cost to us. On the day of the event, he arrived exactly on time and set up all of the equipment without interrupting any other part of the planning process. They even let us keep the equipment for extra time at no additional cost and came to pick it up exactly when they said they would. I would 10000% recommend using them. We are a small non-profit and rented sound equipment for a youth conference. He very patiently explained how everything worked because we didn't have a professional DJ. I would recommend this company for the price and quality of equipment. My only complaint is that communication could have been a lot smoother. He set everything up and made sure my son knew how to adjust the volume, etc. came at the end of the party to pick everything up - right on time! - which made the whole event very easy and low stress for me.
