During an incredibly scary and isolating time, they stayed up with me through the night, answering texts, talking me through what was happening, and helping me understand questions I felt were going unanswered in the sterile and overwhelming environment of the hospital during COVID. My son was ultimately born by C-section, and almost nothing about his birth or the days afterward went the way I had envisioned. Margie and Krystal continued to support me for weeks afterward, helping me emotionally process a birth experience that was very different from the one I had prepared for. Even though I had delivered by C-section, I stayed in their care, and they came to my home to check on both my son and me. Breastfeeding was also incredibly difficult, despite this being my third child. My son had a pronounced tongue tie that had been missed at the hospital. Margie quickly recognized it and connected us with a doctor who was able to release it. Afterward, Margie spent hours helping me breastfeed. I had been told by a lactation consultant that it was too late and that I likely would not be able to breastfeed successfully. Margie did not give up on me. She patiently worked with me on different holds and latches, encouraged me when I was discouraged, and helped me keep going. Eventually, I was able to exclusively breastfeed my son. What stands out most to me about Legacy is that their care was never dependent on getting the birth we had planned. When everything changed, they stayed. They cared for me as a whole person--not just during pregnancy or birth, but through the fear, disappointment, recovery, and adjustment afterward. I will always be grateful for the way Margie and Krystal showed up for me and my son during one of the most vulnerable times of my life.

We hired Kyla as our midwife and had a home-birth. Without writing out my whole birth story I will just say that both my husband and I felt beyond supported for the over 48 hours I was in early/active labor, pushing, and getting baby measured and the house tidied afterwards. We are one week postpartum now and love having someone to reach out to with questions as they come up has been so comforting. We love doing our postpartum check ups at home and value that Kyla can check on baby instead of dragging them out of the house so tiny.
