I may have been a little extra excited when I arrived since I had just spent the last 5 days kayaking around Aialik Bay and probably would have loved any place with a hot shower and a warm bed, but once you meet Dave and Wendy, it feels like you're crashing over at a friend's house. Anyone heading to Seward should definitely stay here; you won't regret it.

Dave and Wendy are wonderful hosts, and the lodge is very comfortable and convenient, and immaculately maintained. We were 10 of us, and stayed 3 nights - used the grill, but not the hot tub - and made our own breakfasts and dinners at the lodge. Wendy was very accommodating, when two of our crew, me included, could not make the kayak trip, and found other people to use the slot, and helped us to make alternate arrangements. Bear Paw is a great place to stay in Seward, & especially if you plan to go kayaking.

Watching the sun come up over the mountains and stream through all the beautiful windows has been a highlight of the trip. The suite is large and very comfortable. The owners have done a wonderful job of blending the quaint historical elements with modern comforts. This place used to be a brothel way back in the day. It's not even a block from the SeaLife Center and right by lots of shops. Looking forward to just walking downstairs for breakfast at the Sea Bean Cafe.

It's near several restaurants and shops, including the coffee shop downstairs, and the waterfront. Since it isn't located in the part of Seward that is crowded by the cruise ship folks, street parking is free unlike elsewhere. Our suite, Wilderness Room #3, was spacious and clean with lots of natural light and the historical details and decor were charming. After spending our days out hiking, we really appreciated the comfortable king bed and cozy bedding. The kitchen came in handy a few times for making meals to take with us on outings and I imagine this would be helpful for families, too. Oh, and the Sea Bean coffee was a great touch! If I could make one small suggestion for the room, I would have liked a curtain on the bathroom window for added privacy. I'd happily stay here again if I returned to the Kenai Peninsula. I think it's a good value for the accommodations.

The king bed was lovely, and with a microwave AND minifridge, you've got all you need for a great home base to explore Seward from. Even on a drizzly trip, the rain on the wooden roof is exceptionally romantic to just stay in and enjoy. Still, with the current state of the world, it was hard to not have some concerns. We weren't provided any soap to wash our hands with, which is fine because I carry hand sanitizer, but did raise a bit of a question mark about their procedures for mid-pandemic. There were also quite a few errant hairs left behind in the shower from the previous occupants (both pink and curly black; my partner and I are blondes) which worried me in terms of how much deep cleaning was getting done between people checking out and checking in. We ended up leaving earlier than planned due to this concern. I'd definitely come back and stay again, but when it's a little safer to do so. I didn't see any evidence that they were prioritizing health & safety of their customers over profits, and I know there are some other places in state that are spacing out rentals so there's at least a day between. I'll probably stick to those for now.

I wouldn't quite call the cabin "rustic" as advertised, more out-dated than anything. Worn green carpet and bed frames that reminded me of my late grandmother's house. As mentioned in the previous review, the hot tub did have a strange smell to it of mildew with a splash of chlorine and the water was very murky with bits of plant(?) material floating around in it. Thankfully it was tolerable enough to enjoy with mandatory showers after. The view from the hot tub was gorgeous overlooking Seward at sunset as it snowed. The bathroom has an awesome giant rain shower head that felt great, the drain, however was slow, so there was quite a bit of water left in the bottom of the shower after you were done. The beds were very comfortable and clean, along with the rest of the cabin. You do need to take out your own trash after your stay which we thought was odd. We would consider staying here again during tourist season, maybe the hot tub will be better up-kept.

We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and exceptionally clean our room was! Of course, it's not the Ritz-Carlton, but the cleanliness of the property truly exceeded our expectations, and it had everything we needed. The room price is also relatively cheaper than other hotels in downtown, likely because it's not located right in the downtown area--which worked out perfectly for us. Since we visited at the very end of the tourist season, breakfast service wasn't available, but complimentary coffee was offered in the dining hall, along with a microwave for guests to use. There was also a coffee maker in the room. Towels and toiletries were provided, all spotless and fresh. Kudos to Todd as well--he was incredibly nice and quick to respond to our inquiries. He even picked up his phone while on the road to make sure our questions were answered right away, which we really appreciated.Overall, we had a great experience here and would highly recommend Exit Glacier Hotel. A nice bonus: bear spray is available for rent.

The hotel itself has a rather homey feel and I found the staff to be rather helpful and welcoming. Our room was alright, probably a bit better than the average room we stayed in on our Alaska trip. It was a bit roomier and more modern, which was nice. The hotel offers a breakfast, which I found kind of strange. They have us a menu and told us if we wanted anything, we had to fill it out and turn it in my like 10 PM the night before. This would allow them to get our food ready for us before we were ready to eat. Unfortunately, we found that that was only half the menu; they had other options posted on a menu in the dining area that I didnt know about until we sat down to eat. Of course, at that point it was too late to change my order. But other than that, we enjoyed our stay, and would stay here again.
