The open space to dance is great but they have too many silent rehearsals when no performances are going on. We were dancing with music and security told us not to, so we turned our music off. But then security couldn't tell off a guy that is disturbing other people and started shouting at us for no reason! Disgusting read more
Such a great space and particularly versatile. It's free to wander into and they often have lots going on, particularly art exhibitions and music concerts. Many are free which is just brilliant and really allows everyone to experience the arts. There's also a bar, cafe and shop. I visited on this occasion for the World Press Photographer exhibition. The space was well organised for this although it did get crowded by the actual exhibition boards (probably as it was Sunday afternoon the first weekend it was open). There was a lot of space around it though if you wanted to get out of the crowds for a moment. The area is a hive of activity and it's ideal to visit when planning a whole day out as it's close to numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, exhibition space, the river and the South Bank for a stroll. It's worth keeping an eye on what they have going on in the centre. I've been to free jazz concerts, photography exhibitions and just for a drink and catch up with a friend. read more

Great area for festivals and for just walking along the river. You get a great view of the city and take a nice leisurely stroll. We went over here for both the Christmas and Chocolate festivals and had a great time. There seem to be a lot of random cafes and restaurants nearby as well. read more
Southbank Centre is made up of numerous artistic venues within three main buildings - I believe it's the largest centre for the arts in Europe. It's a bit of adventure to try and find where you're meant to be going when you're trying to find the location of which performance you're going to - nevertheless, that also makes it fun...unless you're running late! So, do come extremely early, especially if it's your first time. There are also lots of different restaurants to choose from, which makes it handy to have dinner either before or after your production. The Centre's bar, though, are very boring and over priced, so try and advoid if possible. Great place for group of friends and dates ;-) read more

Leading the revival of the South Bank the recently re-opened South Bank Centre is a hub of activity very near Waterloo station. Hosting any event from music recitals to theatre and readings, there is something happening every night. See their website for regular updates. In addition, they have a glorious restaurant on the upper level and a huge deck overlooking the Thames. Whether a top over on a South Bank walk or a special visit, the energy surrounding the South Bank centre will be sure to affect you! read more

Formerly the Royal Festival Hall, this institution has been reopened as a focal centre for London's thriving Arts scene. Whether it is Jazz, Classical, Dance, Hip Hop, Film, Exhibitions, Festivals ... it has it all. The programming is fantastic and varied, plus there are always free events visiting. Food and facilities are excellent. River views are stunning. Go with an open mind and you will not be disappointed. Do not leave London without seeing a performance here! read more
