I cannot say enough about my wonderful experience with Dr. Sam Fuller. I met Dr. Fuller last fall after he was highly recommended by a friend. He is very knowledgeable and listens carefully to what his patients are wanting. I knew he was the Dr. I wanted for my "Mommy Make Over", no question about it. I felt very comfortable and knew I was in the best hands. Any time I needed to contact him for a question- he was always a text, email, or phone call away. I never had to play phone tag with the office because he ensures that his patients can get ahold of him directly- no matter the day or time! I'm a RN and I have never met a Dr. who contacts his postoperative patients on a weekend to check in on them. All of his staff from the office, to the surgery center, were informative and friendly. When I say he is a "Jack of All Trades" I'm not kidding. He does it all! Board-certified plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and orthopedics- just to name a few! I was referred to a physician at SBO with high praise for his skill. I have tried to call for days and can't get the admin team with SBO to answer the phone. Every day I call I get a message saying that there are 15 or more people on hold ahead of me. No option to leave a message, no option to message with someone, and the on-line appointment tool is difficult and doesn't offer free-form to enter the real reason for the visit or the real type of insurance. I have lost connection in the appointment tool three times and am giving up and going with another ortho practice that actually cares enough about the patient to have a good admin staff. I am sure that the physicians are good so it is very unfortunate. My time is important and communication is important to me. Wonder how many other people are doing the same. This might have been a higher rating if I could actually have gotten in to see the doctor. read more

I went for a checkup on my knees. They x-rayed them both and went over the how much wear has happened. To prolong till I get knee replacement surgery I had cortisone shots and they actually worked. I am glad I went and plan to get the surgery soon. read more

Terrible response times when a patient is going through pain that they could actually help assist with. I feel like my treatment has not been prioritized here as a disabled veteran who has served this country. I feel like it's all about a dollar. They don't care that I'm in pain. They only care that they will be paid from the Veterans administration. The communication between both facilities Va and south bend ortho has been a nightmare. I initially came to the office because my previous doctor retired. I was coming in just to have a callus removed from my foot every month. This is a treatment I'm required to have every month to be able to walk without pain. Well i started coming to this office and a surgery was suggested to me to help prevent the pain and callus from reappearing. Well i had the surgery and it didn't work. I still have lots of pain and a callus still forming on my foot but from a slightly different location that is painful. I've been in pain for a while now and south bend orthopedics won't see me because my authorization "expired". Made calls and was told that they just needed to request more visits. The whole process is trash and should be thrown out. I'm a disabled veteran with 100 percent health care. No reason i should not have been seen due to this mid communication from their practices. So i say.. make sure who ever you choose to care for you prioritize your health as much as they do your money. read more

Today, I had a check up with Dr. Sieradski for an MRI follow up of my left hip that has been hurting since October. It seemed that when he looked at my MRI that was pulled up on the screen in my care room, that it was the first time that he was actually looking at it. According to my "My charts" online, the findings included a small labrum tear and hip impingement with edema, hip bursitis, and hamstring tendinosis. Also, a small ovarian cyst was seen. So I asked the Dr., if the labral tear and impingement was causing the bursitis and hamstring issues and he said no. That seemed weird to me that all of a sudden that I also have these other issues going on at the same time. I was the one who actually told him what "My Charts" had said, and then he used exactly what my charts said in his follow up summary that I seen in my email after today's appointment. No talk of the ovarian cyst at all, and if it is worrisome. He seemed to be in a hurry and prescribed me some anti inflammatory meds. I could've opted for a cortisone shot, but It was unclear in my mind still what exactly is going on with my hip. Plus, I keep getting scheduled for things 2 to 3 weeks apart, and this appointment today was supposed to be for the Friday before christmas, but I never got a reminder for that appointment, and so I called them before I left to make sure that it was still for that day, and I was told that they tried calling me several times, and that the Dr. had an emergency. Not sure if that was true or not. It seemed fishy. I do however, keep getting my bill updates in my texts and emails without a problem. I have another follow up in March, but I won't be back. I think that these Dr.s have taken on too many patients, and are now even opening another practice in Elkhart soon. I was in a good amount of pain during my first visit when this all started, and luckily Dr. Shmucker put me on a steroid pack that helped settle it down, but he couldn't tell without and Mri if it was my back or hip causing me issues, so then I was directed to see Sieradski. Then I was scheduled for a back mri, but I canceled, because I could clearly feel the pain in my hip and hamstring and bursitis. So then I finally got another Mri scheduled for my hip in the middle of December. The MRI luckily is what gave me some answers. I don't usually complain on platforms like this, but I'm not feeling like I've gotten the care or answers about the future of my hip at only 45 years old. read more

Doctors are frequently behind schedule and do not seem to listen to the full extent of your pain. It is nearly impossible to get ahold of someone to schedule an appointment regardless of urgency. They often fail to call back after leaving messages. read more

Dr seiradski has poor bedside manners. When a patient verbalized anxiety about post operative care, his response was insulting and did not address the question. The office did not provide pre operative education which increased anxiety. read more

Went in to see Dr.Mike Yergler for a follow up on the two unsuccessful rotator cuff surgeries he performed. The follow up last October or so with Dr Yergler was cancelled because Mike was in a meeting. While I sat in the office I was told that I would see the PA, not the Dr who did my surgery. The PA said my shoulders were basically shot and I needed another round of tests to see how bad they were. Completed the tests at a significant cost. Went back this morning for my appointment with Dr Yergler to get my results read. Waited for an HOUR and A HALF only to be told that Yergler was too busy, or at lunch, to see me. They wanted me to see the PA again. What a joke. I am concerned about the athletes at Notre Dame. Please look at Beacon. Much better options. The first option at South Bend Orthopedics is whatever makes them money. They lead with surgery in my experience. FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER! read more

I have been very dissatisfied with my care concerning my spine. It took about 4 months to finally get an appointment for the MRI. Then I never saw the MD. They didn't thnk it necessary. Both times I saw the PA. I have severe scoliosis and have been basically ignored for the last 10 years. Now, I'm going to go to a neurosurgeon in Chicago. Under request, they never transferred my MRI records. Finally my physical therapist did. So glad she copied my report. Unfortunate because I had a very good experience with my MD when I broke my knee and my foot MD when I had surgery about 5 years ago. What's happened? I will fix this review if I find out there is nothing that can be done. read more

Very hard to get in even though there is multiple offices. When you call in to change MD schedule appointments or anything it's at least a 30 plus min wait. I see a Dr for my bilateral knee issues who used to be very attentive and HD lots of ideas and now it's bilateral total knee replacement surgery or shots. I see pain management Dr's and back n neck and ankle and wrist. They would frequently mess up on the schedule and send me to the wrong place. It happened more often than not. Most of the doctors there are extremely busy but attempt to take the time to listen and address and care for the issues at hand. They are usually running late anywhere between 30 minutes to over a hour. read more

I am only giving this business four stars because I felt the office staff wasn't super friendly compared to the rest of the crew. I had a wonderful experience with Dr Tyler McGregor and Ashley and Rachel. They were friendly, professional, and down to earth, which eased my anxieties about going in there. Dr McGregor was a second opinion for me so it was vital that he listen to my concerns and see the images I brought with me from another doctor. His assessment was thorough and he really took the time to LISTEN to me and hear my concerns. He was very honest about my condition, what the risks would be in doing nothing or in performing surgery. My mom had a full knee replacement surgery yesterday. From point A to point Z they took amazing care of us. Most importantly, they gave my mom top notch care. Knee replacement is an ugly thing but they made my mom feel like she was at a spa. Dr. Y performed a top notch surgery then came to tell me and my dad while we were waiting that she did great and was so kind and answered all of our questions. Jessica was my mom's recovery nurse and spoiled her rotten while explaining everything in terms that we could understand. Lisa was her physical therapist and was kind but stern, exactly what my mom needed. We left with the confidence and skill to get my mom into our home that has 15 stairs to enter. She did it like a rockstar. Even this soon in the process we are 100% confident we will be going to the same place in a year or two for my mom's other knee replacement. read more

After an initial appointment with Dr. Ratigan to evaluate my chronic shoulder, Jeff was able to work me in me on short notice within 1 week for further evaluation. He performed an ultrasound and determined the best course of action would be a cortisone injection. My experience today, I check in as a walk in, sit there for 2 hours from the time I walked in the door I went back up to the counter and was told I would be called back in 15 minutes and would not be seen until after 5:00. I understand as a walk in you do not have an appointment, but you do try to accommodate the patient maybe offer an appointment. My primary physician is at the south bend clinic I could have been​ referred to someone there, but I decided to go to SBO because I have used them in the past for my hand surgeries not returning and I have health insurance. read more

They only care about their wallets. Refused to do surgery on my tire rotator cuff because workman's comp denied it. I said I would use my own insurance and they refused and said they wouldn't do it until workman's comp approved it. The lady who called was very rude and said even if I paid cash they won't do it. The injury happed in January and I'm still fighting with workman's comp. SBO said it caused to much paper work with billing and it was a hassle... meanwhile nearly 5 months later I'm still dealing with a tore rotator cuff and slap tear, and a damaged spine that they refused to look at in favor of the insurance company. Dr. Sam Fuller has done 2 surgeries on my wrists for carpal tunnel syndrome. AAAHHHMMAZING RESULTS! Done a few months ago. My wrists are perfect now and barely have scars! One you cannot tell i had anything done to it. The other has a slight raised spot the size of half a dime, and only if i flex my hand back. I have no pain in them anymore after spending years in horrible pain that woke me up every hour and forced me to walk around. It was hell. I have no complaints with Dr. Balint. He's been up front with me and answers my questions. My issues began when I decided to proceed with a shoulder replacement. The surgical scheduler called me the following day. This was in early March. The first available appointment was in mid AUGUST! I thought I misunderstood but the scheduler assured me that was correct. I stated exactly what Dr. Balint had said to me that my shoulder had deteriorated much more since my last visit. She put me on hold, came back with May 20 availability. That was still 2 months out, but I took it. I felt like I was bargaining for a better date like I was at a flea market. The next day I called to inquire if all the shoulder surgeons were that backed up and if I might change to a different doctor. The woman I spoke to said the scheduler was following protocol and did I realize all the surgeons work together? Very condescending. The following day she called me back with an offer of April 15. I took it. When the hospital called to tell me what to bring to my pre-op the following Monday, I knew nothing about being scheduled for a pre-op. The nurse said SBO Alliance was supposed to let me know the time and date for pre-op work. She reminded me about something in my "packet" which I never received and SBO was supposed to have sent me. Something is happening behind the scenes, be it with their "protocol" or inter-office feuds or lack of communication or poor management. I'm still on the fence about changing to a surgeon in Michigan. All I can say is be your own advocate. Ask questions. Don't let them bully you. Or find a well managed facility that employs caring, well trained individuals. read more

Ulnar nerve transposition surgery in 8/2021. Nothing seemed to be coming back. Follow up EMG in 2/2022. Never heard a word back from them. Severe elbow pain in 5/2022. Went in and was told by the surgeon, " I was wondering when we would see you back. Your EMG results were so bad that Dr. Markley walked them down to me and told me that you need help." So why no phone call to get me back in?! Surgery was redone in 5/2022 and was told it would cost $2600. I paid that with my HSA. Now they're saying I owe another $3400 for the surgery plus the follow ups and it's my fault for not asking for any balance owed or checking to see if they had processed anything through my insurance. The woman on the phone was extremely rude, even when I asked her to send me a statement for review. Never got the statement and now they send me to collections. They have even gone so far as to remove my access to their patient portal to see my records. Even trying to create another account shows no patient with that birthdate. Time to lawyer up and put this place out of business. read more

I went in for a Barbotage procedure. I think that the doctor did a fine job and the staff was good during the procedure; however, the aftercare was not good and they did nothing to help with the pain I experienced after the procedure. I knew that I would be sore but three days after I felt worse with the pain. I was told to do Ibuprofen, tylenol, and ice. I told the nurse on the phone that I had already been icing and rotating between Ibuprofen and tylenol. She said they would not call in any meds because it was not surgery and that the pain was normal. That on Monday I could come in for a shot. I told her that I was not getting another needle poked in my arm with the pain that I was already in and that I would still be in pain over the weekend. I even asked if they could call in something that is not narcotics. She said I could call my primary care doctor or go to the hospital. One, I shouldn't have to call my primary care doctor when he had nothing to do with the procedure. SBO should be providing my care not making me go to another doctor or hospital where I will be charged again. I wish I would have known that this was going to be so painful afterwards and that they would not help after it was completed or I would never have had it done. This is horrible to let someone suffer in pain when there are things available to help. Very disappointed in how they handled my care. read more

When I saw him one time in 4-2018, he acted like I should not even be bothering him and his N.P. was about the stupidest person I have ever had to deal with. I have dealt with 5 doctors at S.B.O over the past 12 years or so and this is the first time I heave received such poor care. Went in yesterday 1/20/20 for initial consult and I was filling out my clipboard the whole way thru my landing in a examination room. I was told by someone along the way to remove my shirt when I get to the ex room it was cold so I didn't I thought it only takes a second to take off, in time a nurse Caorlyn Barbus came in and the first thing she said was YOU WERE TOLD TO TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT WHEN YOU GOT HERE in a very down talking manner, I dismissed it as she might be having a bad morning, but her attitude continued into the examination only to be told I can't be having pain THERE and would have to see a doctor in two weeks I thought that was the reason I was there! So she made an appt for me to see dr yearger and I just read a review the he is very pompus, pushy,and even a bully.This should be good! Will be letting you know how that works out! read more

My second time using SBO and it was terrible. The interactions with most of the staff were dismissive and I was treated like I was a nuisance for interrupting their day. If the discussion isn't about how much, when or how they're gonna get their money then they don't have time to talk to you. If they spent half as much time addressing their patients with caring and respect as they do worrying about their pay they might be an okay practice, but they don't. Arrived at 0825 and completed most of check-in by 0835 (0915 app 2nd opinion on hip replace). Recptnist asked if I wanted to complete check-in or leave and come back closer to app time. I asked if I waited might I get in early (silly me). Recptnist said there were 10 people waiting ahead of me to see the doc. 10 patients in 40 min = 4 min per patient for me to start my app. on time. Speed Doctor I guess. Was escorted to exam room at 1000. Was then told they failed to collect my medical data from 1st Dr. They scrambled to get that. About 1015 a PA named Scott came in and asked for info. I asked him where the Doc. was because I came here for an experienced MD opinion on surgery. Scott said the Doc had left early for surgery. SBO thought it was OK to just have me wait rather than inform me the Doc was not available. Left without speaking to MD (Mike Yergler). At a minimum this was very inconsiderate, at the most it was unethical. 10 patients in 40 min, how does that support quality treatment?!? Let me wait around for a Dr. they knew wasn't coming. Saw a doctor for a large heel spur and chronic plantar fasciitis who injected my foot with cortisone, which in turn ruptured the plantar fascia. When I tried to get in to see him again, the staff told me I would have to wait 2 months. I asked about cancellations and they told me I could call each day to check. Did so and on the third day I was chewed out for calling every day and told to go to ER. So I won't go to ER for this kind of problem, bc to me ER is for life threatening situations. I was fired as a patient because I dared to complain about the questionable business practices of the administrative staff of Ascendent Orthopedic Alliance. I've written multiple letters regarding my concerns and not once have I received a written acknowledgement or even a phone call. I have received plenty of invoices asking for money. I have never met with so much unprofessionalism in the medical field as I have encountered here. I had an MRI scheduled. I was there on time and they were running an hour behind. I was told the MRI would cover my neck and arm area and they assured me they were doing both at that time. I get a call the next day only to be told they did not do my arm and I needed to schedule an appointment. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! From the moment I checked in, something felt very wrong. The receptionist was the least friendly person I've ever met- her attitude was reflected perfectly by a sign on her desk that read "Remind me how lucky I am to work here....I keep forgetting." She was hostile and interrogated me about details no doctor's office has ever needed to know, and then threatened that my insurance would refuse the claim if such info isn't provided (which was obviously false, as I've never had a claim refused in the entire time I've had the insurance despite never having this information). It took 45 minutes for me to even get in a patient room, and then the doctor ordered Xrays before even seeing me (which was odd, given that my kind of injury had already been diagnosed by MRI, and was not the type of injury that could be seen on an xray). He failed to consider other possible causes of the pain I was experiencing even though numerous other physicians had identified at least a few other sources. When I asked him how I could manage the pain, he gave me short answers and it was essentially like pulling teeth to get any info. His responses were wholly inadequate and didn't provide an ounce of direction. You couldn't pay me to return to SBO. I'll be going elsewhere for a second opinion and staying as far away as possible from the dragon lady receptionist and the doctor who seemed a little too keen to bilk my insurance. read more

I had a knee replaced by dr. Jeff Yergler. The surgery went fine. I saw the doctor for 5 minutes the first time and he just said I needed a knee replacement nothing more. I saw him again for 5 minutes post op. In the six weeks after the surgery the PT was great on Elm Rd. The Surgery Office was another thing not much help or informative and would not answer questions I had. I saw the Doctor after 6 weeks. I was doing well but my PT said I needed to work with her on strength. The doctor again saw me for 5 minutes. I asked him a couple questions about possible dancing and biking and he actually said " I don't care what you do" to all my questions. I told him I was still in pain and asked for a prescription and he said "use aspercream" no more meds. He also said "no more physical therapy do it on your own" Then he said "see you in a year" and walked out. read more
