I had two sinus osseous-autografts done by Gateway Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on June 28, 2017,…read morefollowed by three implants done on Oct 24, 2017. Gateway Oral installed a 6 mm. implant on tooth 16 and installed two 8 mm. implants on teeth 24 & 26. Since then I have had two of those implants come loose and had to be removed. Gateway Oral installed one implant after the two coming loose, and it as well came loose. On Dec. 10, 2018 Dr. Mather installed another implant on tooth 16. On June 20, 2020 tooth #24 was looked at by Dr. Mather and it was loose. So far I have had three implants come loose out of the four Gateway Oral have done. Dr. Mather had told me how much the fifth implant was going to be when he pulled out the fourth implant. One week later his office sent me a notice via email of how much it would be to install a fifth implant. I did not need to be told twice in a week how much they wanted to get from me if I was to get another implant from their company. I think this was very uncaring. . I paid a professional periodontist on Aug. 26/2020 to take a scan of all my teeth to try find out what could have caused the implants to fail as no one wants to take responsibility for the failure of the implants. The periodontist wondered why Gateway Oral had not used longer implants as there was enough space for longer implants as I had, had the sinus osseous-autografts done. My dentist, had recommended Dr. Mather for the implants. I would have thought that the two doctors would have worked together to make sure my implants were successful. I talked to Dr. Mather after the three implants coming loose. He stated that he only installs 6 mm. and 8 mm.implants. I told him I have had eight implants installed, and his three were the only ones to come loose. I know my dentist used the articulating paper on all my teeth after installing the new crowns on all four implant s. Dr. Mather stated that it was my dentist's fault, stating something about the crowns not being down far enough. Since than I have had my dentist install a 10 mm. implant on tooth 16 and a 12 mm. implant on tooth 24. I have not had any problems with either implant since being installed. When they were installing the last implant again on tooth #24, the x-ray they took showed there had been a drill bit from a root canal that had broken off from doing a root canal. It had been in there for at least 10-15 years. I am surprised that Dr.Mather had not seen this on his x-ray or figured it did not matter enough to remove it before installing the implant. I think the quality of work that Dr. Mather does is rushed as he did all three implants in about two hours. My dentist installed a 10 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed a 6 mm., and a 12 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed an 8 mm. My question is why did he need to do two sinus osseous-autografts if he was not going to use longer implants. I have had to deal with the pain of having my implants coming loose, being removed and getting new implants installed over the course of the last four years. I have had to go to dentist offices more than my fair share during covid. A person should not have to deal with this kind of pain, suffering, and mental anguish for over four years. After my meeting with Doctor Mather I found him very arrogant and he seemed to believe that he can do no wrong. I would not recommend Gateway Oral for any implants.

I have been going to the Strathcona Dental Clinic ever since I finished University. My Dentist…read morethere is Dr. Bergh. When I graduated from the UofAI lived in the neighbourhood this clinic was a two block walking distance from my apartment at the time. So it was an easy choice to go somewhere close. Over the years I have moved further and further away but I still continue to go to see Dr. Bergh. Mind you it is now only 40 blocks instead of 2 blocks! I think some of the front desk staff have been there ever since I started going to the Clinic. I think that speaks to the sign of a good business. The Dental Hygienists seem to change over more than anyone. I always find the dental hygiene work more concerning and painful than any dental procedures. Those are large metal pointy picks! I haven't had any bad experiences though I just find that part of the visit the part I like the least. Appointments have always been timely and I haven't been kept waiting long if any at all most times. Staff is very friendly and professional. I haven't had a single bad experience that I can think of. I highly recommend Dr. Bergh and this clinic!

After the procedure, I kept going back because something clearly wasn't right. Instead of addressing the problem, they repeatedly prescribed antibiotics and insisted nothing was wrong. Over time, I saw multiple dentists trying to get answers, but no one wanted to take responsibility or properly investigate. (created a ton of fear) I was essentially passed from one office to another with no resolution. Nearly nine years later, I finally found a dentist who took my concerns seriously and referred me to an endodontist. The specialist confirmed that the original root canal had failed they missed a canal. It had been overfilled, which caused a pocket in my jaw that repeatedly became infected. For years, I was dealing with chronic infections, with my mouth flaring up every month or so, and no one acknowledging the real cause. The dentist who performed the procedure claimed to be a specialist, but based on the outcome, the quality of work was unacceptable. This wasn't just a minor issue--it led to long-term damage and significant health complications. I've dealt with chronic inflammation, recurring infections, and even hospital visits due to blood infections that were never properly traced back to the source at the time. I paid for professional care and trusted this office, and after 4 hours in a chair and thousands later in return, I was left dealing with the consequences of a failed procedure that no one would take responsibility for. It took nearly a decade to finally get a clear diagnosis and validation of what I had been experiencing the entire time.(keep in mind I couldn't live on antibiotics either so no medication to heal it or prevent infection or I'd end up immune to them if I did) I would strongly caution others to seek second opinions and ensure they are getting proper care, because my experience here resulted in years of unnecessary pain and avoidable health issues. Also fun fact for anybody getting work done anywhere, did you know your body suffering with constant inflammation and infection, like from failed dental work, ya it could cause blood sugar issues.... The more you know.

Our appointment was scheduled for 10:00 a.m., but the doctor didn't see us until almost 10:30. When the doctor finally came, he only looked at my son's teeth for less than a minute and simply said that the teeth were too crooked to fix. That was it -- there are nothing to do. What's worse, they still charged us around $140 for basically doing nothing. I understand consultation fees, but this felt completely unreasonable and unprofessional. We left with no useful information at all. Very disappointing experience -- I would not recommend this clinic to anyone.
