I've been to garlic festivals in Gilroy CA, Saugerties NY, and Bennington VT many times. They usually have dozens of farmers with a wide variety of different garlic breeds, as well as a many vendors of sausages (italian, venison, beef), cheeses from dairy farms, shallots, peppers, pesto, on and on and on. That's not even talking about the foods that are available for dining on site. This festival had one garlic farmer with fresh garlic, one with farm made garlic powder/granules/chips and black garlic, and 'Garlic Festival Foods' factory made jarred marinated garlic. The parking was a nightmare. The premium parking was full and there was no one to help guide people to parking. There were warnings that if you park in the wrong lot you'll be towed, but no clear signage where one lot ends and the danger zone begins. We kept circling and circling, and were about to leave despite prepaying for tickets, until after about 20 minutes we eventually found someone to follow back to their car and get their space when they left. The vendors were all frustrated because the wifi and cellular connections were so bad that they couldn't do card processing and they couldn't find anyone in charge to talk to about it. Many of the vendors we talked to said they won't be coming back (especially the two that were actually selling garlic). The food wasn't very garlicky. Just standard fair with extra garlic powder. This was a nice community fair, and hopefully it will grow into a real garlic festival some day, but it was poorly run, and very disappointing. read more

The Garlic festival 2021 was actually in Wellington. It was near the Wellington mall. They had a really nice bus/shuttle to take you closer to the event. The bus was nice. Temperature was taken before getting inside. The first thing you smell as you enter. Is the smell of food. It smells so good. The food vendors are right at the entrance. I tried the garlic ginger candid bacon. That was good, more like awesome. A must try in my opinion. Food prices are a little high. So many food options. So little time lol. They had a live band playing. I do really like the music they are playing. It was a mixture of different genres. They had the place in front of the band marked. It looked like a checker board, for social distancing. A great idea. I tried the garlic gelato. It tasted to me like vanilla ice cream with a little hint of vanilla. It was good. I had a good time. I came early so it wasn't very crowded. But it got crowded later on. They had many different venders and artist. The sculptures and art work where beautiful. I specially like the carvings. It's the twentieth anniversary of the South Florida Garlic Festival in John Prince Park, Lake Worth about 10 mi away from us. The usual appearance of a festival is musical acts on stage, rides for the kiddies and in this particular venue food with a flair of garlic infused in most offerings including garlic ice cream. ( No, I didn't try it). The food tasted rather excellent from different stands. This two day festival is very popular here every year. Very disappointing this wasn't a garlic festival this was a carnival with a couple of vendors. We wouldn't mind except there was a $20 parking fee and $12 per person admission, it was a very expensive street fair. Won't be back read more

This was my first time attending the garlic festival we arrived downtown around 10 AM on Saturday so we decided to walk the green market, not wanting to stand in line we hung out at a near by tavern and enjoyed a few cocktails. Once the gates opened and the line quickly disappeared we made our way in and paid the $10 admission. It is much larger once you enter than it appears from the outside, the first tents were filled with cooking demonstrations and wine tastings then came the art and vendor tents I was surprised at the amount of vendors set up. The layout allows you to walk the route without having to continuously circle back and you end up in front of the stage and covered Pavillion they did have some entertainment going on but mostly announcements at this time of the morning. It appears everyone ends up at the food concessions where everything is purchased using tickets each ticket is one dollar and the food prices range from 5 - 10 tickets so if you're planning to indulge in tasting a variety of the offerings bring plenty of cash or your credit card it's not going to be an inexpensive day. There are a few standing small round tables that get pretty crowded in front of the concessions no seating available anywhere so wear some comfortable footwear you will be standing the entire time. We tried the garlic crab cakes the ones we got were cold and soggy with just a trace of crabmeat I was expecting much more, the garlic London Broil on a pita was tasty but so juicy you needed to bend over to avoid wearing it when taking a bite, the garlic french fries were my favorite crispy with a light coating of garlic infused oil and only 5 ticket and enough for two - three people to share. We didn't hang out for more than a few hours we've seen about all there was to see and experience since the music wasn't going to start until much later. I suggest they start the entertainment up early and have it go on continuously I think this would make it more festive and promote alcohol consumption. First time coming to the garlic festival, honestly I feel I'm more confused about it than before by that I mean there were no festivities. Besides the vendors offering food with garlic flavor, which were absurdly priced, there was nothing about garlic. Of course there were companies trying too promote there products and rides for the kids but no garlic picking games, or garlic growing techniques or anything. I don't know what was suppose to be there which is why we went. Now to the cost, $12 per adult to get in and $5 parking kinda steep being there was nothing to do but walk around a park which is normally free. Everything was a charge, face painting, kiddy rides, etc. But all in all it made my kids smile and got to spend time with just the three of us which in my book is worth a lot more so all in all it was cool. I'd definitely change the name or get some type of theme going and get your food vendors to take it more seriously. because for me it was more like fam day at the park. read more

Garlic heaven, I love the location of this festival. Once we walked around and checked out everything we got our hand stamped and headed down Atlantic Ave for a stroll. Cool stuff. As for the Festival, it was pretty big. Lots of vendors with items being sold that I haven't seen before. I bought a cool peace sign necklace made out of a fork, a barbecue grilling mat, and some mike's seasonings. The food booths were crazy. I've never seen so much garlic in my life. Honestly I was to intimidated to eat anything. Not that it didn't look or smell good it's just lots and lots of garlic. The garlic pizza was insane looking. I think the sauce was puréed garlic with garlic cloves on top. Pure insanity. My wife and I laughed because it is a Garlic Festival I mean $hit what were we supposed to expect. Lol. The only thing I didn't like was the beers being sold. All Heineken beers which I hate. They had some other beers which I didn't like either. Mr. Garlic, next time put a Bud Light or Miller lite on tap. It was a fun day and I'm glad we went. Remember to tell them Dan sent you and stay hungry! read more

The good : It was a nice sunny day and downtown Delray is always a nice day trip. They had a couple of good merchandise vendors in there and I was able to get my doggy some home baked snacks. The rest : You can't buy any food with cash. You have to stand online by the ticket counter and decide right then and there what you want and buy the appropriate amount of tickets. Then if you decide to change your mind, well your sh*t outta luck, because you only bought 8 tickets and the thing that looks better is 9 tickets. There was not enough places to eat by the food itself so your standing in the walkway trying to eat a spinach and garlic cheese stuffed portobello mushroom like pizza because you can't sit your plate down to use a fork and knife. Then the live music. We went on Sunday and the music was loud and distorted by older wanna be rockstars. The base was so heavy it pounded your heart and we weren't even in the music area. I saw little kids with fingers in there ears because it was so horrible. So $5.00 to park, $24.00 for us get in, and $28.00 on food. For the $60 bucks I should have went to the South Florida Fair or took a drive to the beach for a nice lunch on the ocean. I will never go back to that fair again. Afterwards hubby and I stopped in an oyster place for a bloody mary and there was a couple there saying they go to all the Delray fairs except this one for the same reason. read more

Not a fan of having to pay $20 to enter a festival and then have to buy tickets for food and then wait in the food line. The festival ends up being very expensive. I would rather go to a nice restaurant. I tried the garlic ice cream which was very garlicky, but you still tasted the vanilla ice cream. Interesting combination, but wouldn't try again. Make sure to arrive early on a Saturday night. By 7pm, they weren't allowing any more ticket sales because they were at capacity. Be prepared to stand because there is no where to sit. There were a few bleachers at the concert pavilion. too bad it's not in a bigger land area where you could bring a lawn chair to listen to the band. That would make it more worth your $20. read more

3.5 stars I want to give this festival at least 4 stars, but for a few reasons I cannot. Please do not get me wrong I enjoyed myself and will patronize this event in the future. First thing it was a little frustrating finding parking we arrived about 5:00PM on Saturday and the two main parking areas were full. By chance after riding around we stumbled upon parking at City Hall for $5. They had a number of parking spaces and while it was not close to the event it was not a far walk. I did not think the $10 charge to enter the festival before 6:00PM on Saturday was was that bad, but after 6:00PM the price jumped to $20. I certainly would not have paid $20 to enter the festival then having to pay for the cost of food. The festival was nice, but not that nice sorry that can get pretty pricy. The festival was well attended and had a number of very interesting an unique vendors. As for the food choices they had a good variety a little pricy for most items, but hey that's to be expected at a festival so no surprise there. My favorites were the Garlic Pizza OMG good, and the Curry Garlic Chicken on a stick that was very good. The Galic Ice Cream was a big diappointment for $5. Honestly, the ice cream did not have any garlic flavor and the quality of the ice cream tasted like a cheap store brand ice cream with a lot of air whipped in it. The live entertainment was jamming out and the overall vibe was good. See you next year just please do not go up on the entry price. read more

We paid $20 for parking because we didn't want to deal with shutter or whatever for $10. The entrance ticket is $10 before 6pm, and it cost $20 after 6pm. At two people, between parking and two tickets, we are already $60 in. You'd think $20 entrance fee included something, but nope!!! Include nothing. Zip. Nada. Nonetheless I was excited to try all the garlic food they had to offer. The food was mediocre, but everyone was so nice. The price of the food is exactly how much you're expected to pay at any events. It wasn't that busy; my guess would be because of the cost! It's cheaper to get into the south Florida fair. I went last year with my mom and had a fantastic time. I was told to try the Garlic Ice cream, which was good but totally not worth the calories. It tasted like pure butter and fat. If that's what you like then go for it! Overall, I had a great time and can't wait for this year. To put it quite bluntly, this festival stinks and I don't mean that in the cutesy kind of way because it's a garlic festival. I mean that whoever was in charge of throwing this event did everything in their power to make sure that the experience was completely miserable. Here's the time line of events..... For starters there was three different parking options. 10 dollars to be close, 5 dollars to be sort of close or free and take a shuttle. Since my husband and I are very grateful to have two working legs we chose free and walked. Upon getting to the entrance we stopped at the restroom (please keep in mind this is a filthy restroom at a public park). The restroom had two stalls complete with a woman that had a large poster saying " thank you in advance for tipping". Now I tip everybody but I was not about to tip the public park restroom cleaner for me to be able to pee. It's her job. It's not like a bathroom attendent at a restaurant handing out towels and mints. It was a random woman standing at the door with a sign in glitter trying to intimidate people into giving her money. Next we head to the gate where it costs 10 dollars to enter from 5-6 p.m. or 20 dollars if it's past 6. This money gets you absolutely nothing other than walking around on the grass. Okay let's eat! Oh wait we can't because no one accepts money. You can only pay in tickets which need to be purchased on a separate line. Each ticket is a dollar and each food item is a different number of tickets. Problem being you need to figure out exactly what you want to eat and how many tickets it costs or you will either be short tickets or have too many and not be allowed to return them. Food was an absolute rip-off. Tasty but not worth the money and of course everyone wanted a tip there as well. Even the girl who sells water. It's insane. Other the food there was a few kiddie rides and a bunch of vendors selling all sorts of products. Here's where I get really mad. Never in my life in all of the festivals I've been to have I ever had vendors harassing me to buy their product. It was so bad we couldn't even browse. At one point a guy physically grabbed my arm and started to pull me to his artwork. I was furious! There were things I may have bought but couldn't take the harassment anymore so we left. Needless to say we will never be coming back. Way to treat people and rip them off. 2 stars because the food I tasted was actually good. I won tickets to the festival and was super excited since I've never had the opportunity to go for one reason or another. I followed the instructions on the website and parking ($5) was easy on Sunday afternoon. Previous reviews said it had been difficult. After we exited the parking garage we went to the entrance closest to us and asked for will call. The "kids" at the table were polite but they did not know. They directed us to another booth across from them. The volunteers at that table said will call was at the main entrance so we trekked outside the festival perimeter and made our way to the entrance on Atlantic Ave. When I asked the woman at that booth about will call she had no idea what that was so I calmly explained that tickets were left for us. The officers nearby said that will call was on the back of the festival (where we were originally). I was annoyed and less than calmly explained we were just there and they sent us to the main entrance. I asked if they could call someone but nobody made an effort to help us. Finally the woman called someone on her cell phone and will call was located at the East entrance on 2nd street. The good thing is that while we waited someone exiting the festival gave us $10 in tickets, which was very generous. We made our way to the next entrance and we were finally permitted entry. We stopped at the Trader Joes booth and had some delicious bbq Sriracha sauce! Must buy!!! We then bought some tickets so we could enjoy the food. We started with garlic bread ($5) that was tasty and a heaping pile of garlic chicken nachos($9)! There's tons of vendors selling crafts, clothes, art, and specialty food items. We tried chocolate covered honeycomb, which was interesting. We also visited the family section that had a few carnival rides. We listened to the band play music and even got a pic with Garlic Guy! We ended the day with a slice of garlic pizza ($6) and a scoop of garlic ice cream ($5). I'm glad that we gained free entry because between the food and the rides ($15), it can be a costly day. Despite the difficulty getting in, we had a fun time. I would give it 3.5 stars but rounded up. read more

This is my 3rd time attending the fest. It is always a fun time to go out there to spend a day in the sun with friends while drinking beer or wine with live music blasting in the background. I mainly go for the food. Sure it's all garlic flavored, that's the point of this festival! The prices are almost a dollar more than what you'd regularly pay for outside of the fest. But you're paying for the garlicky experience, too. Art, crafts, soap, olive oils and all other kinds of funky stuff is sold at the vending booths around the grounds in front and right of the Old School Museum. The only complaint we had is, I wish there was a list of vendors (and their thing) to show you whether or not they'd be there. There were 3 particular ones that claimed to come to every Garlic Fest but did not show this year. I regularly bought from them especially from this fest and a few others that I can never remember which ones did what. So here's a tip, if there's ever one you really liked and would like to continue future purchases with- take a photo or type the business's name and stuff and email it to yourself! They do sometimes hand out business cards or include their name on the tags of the product- but I always misplace these kind of things. So it's been frustrating trying to remember and even ask a volunteer if they knew of the vendors. Also, if you do go after 3pm- I suggest you to either wear jeans or bring a light jacket because the shade grows long as the sun goes down and it gets really chilly in like 60-65 degrees. But I do remember one fest was freezing at 50! read more

Big disappointment. To pay a $10 entrance fee PLUS pay for overpriced fair food is silly. Other cities manage to create fantastic local festivals by not charging any entrance fee. I can understand if the food was reasonably priced, but for high-priced food AND a fee to get in, it's just not worth it. Essentially, the $10 fee goes toward the entertainment. This year's festival didn't have many big name bands (Litehouse was it!), and frankly, while the tribute bands are good, I can see them at no cost at other locations around S. Florida. Now that I've been to this event once, there is no reason for me to return unless there is a good headlining band, and even then, I won't eat the overpriced food. We were vendors there. I really can't complain about the management because things were pretty organized and they were cool people. But the DUST everywhere kicked up by the big crowds on a field that had minimal grass permeated everything. By the end of the three days I was feeling pretty stressed because breathing was dirty. The crowds were there to eat and from what I could see few of the vendors made expenses. The 10 and20 dollar admission fee plus the parking fee made it an expensive party that to my eye wasn't worth the money. The garlicky food was fun and not bad but everything was overpriced. Wow, this was unusual and fun. If you've never been to Delray Beach, I recommend it. It's everything Miami isn't. Let's just say that if you see someone dressed skimpily, that person will stick out like a sore thumb and probably will be considered a tourist. Most of the people here are 30s+ and somewhat preppy. It's a quaint beach town, quiet and rather upscale. The beach is huge and never very full. Anyway, I digress... Parking was a bit of a pain in the butt. I came with a friend (thank goodness, I don't have patience for circling around for a parking spot, LOL), and we eventually found a lot that was $5, as the street parking was full, and traffic was pretty bad, especially considering Delray. I had never heard of the Garlic Fest, but apparently, it's the biggest thing up there. As others have mentioned, there's an entrance fee (cash or card) and once you get in, if you want to purchase anything from the vendors, you need to purchase tickets and turn in tickets. For instance, a margarita was 7 tickets. I believe $20 gets you about 21 tickets, or was it $10? I do not recall. The entry fee is $10, I know that for sure. The margarita was a bit too salty for my taste so I only got 1. As to food, they have garlic fries, garlic ice cream, garlic conch, garlic gator, garlic crab cakes, etc. I did try the garlic ice cream. Yes, I would call myself open-minded, as I know many others would be disgusted by this. Let's just say that as long as I am not eating bugs, critters or reptiles, I am down to trying it. Surprisingly, the garlic ice cream was quite good. It's a mostly overwhelming taste of vanilla with tiny specs of garlic. I have grown immune to garlic from years of eating it, as my mother uses it a lot in her cuisine and I used to eat whole cloves sometimes, so I did not taste the garlic too much and it didn't bother me, although my friends, who are American, found it to be strong. A Brazilian friend who was also with us found the taste to be very noticeable, but mostly in the aftertaste, not during consumption. Like I said, it didn't bother me and I thought it was good. After the ice cream, she purchased kettle corn, which was sweet and tasty and we all dug in. We didn't eat any of the other garlic goodies though because first of all, we weren't very hungry and second of all, it starts to add up and before you know it, you're out of cash. Those garlic fries DID look mighty tasty though! There were vendor stands with everything from t-shirts with rhinestones, which I love but I am sure I can find cheaper elsewhere, underwater photography, sunglasses, these ceramic tile looking things for decoration, paintings, jewelry, and even some jewelry made from spoons...yes, talk about unusual! There was beer, margaritas, soft drinks, etc. in terms of drinks. During the Garlic Fest, there was a live band playing mostly at all times. Good music! Classic rock, mostly. There was also the mascot, Mr. Garlic, walking around the grounds for a photo opportunity (we all obliged). The band was going on for hours, I left around 8 p.m. and was tired of standing around. Apart from the benches under the tent towards the middle of the grounds near the stage and live band, there really wasn't any seating, and those seats were full, so that was my only "gripe" basically. I have always wanted to go to this festival. I love garlic-flavored foods. I paid $15.00 admission fee for a friend and another 15.00 fee for myself and also paid an additional 20.00 fee to go on rides. They presented in a picture a large adult Ferris wheel and other rides. I was so excited. I encouraged another friend to join us. We were disappointed. I tried the crab cakes. So, So Delish BUT I didn't taste an outstanding flavor of garlic, in fact, I tasted no garlic, but heck yea they were good. Could have eaten one of those in a good seafood restaurant. Next, I tried the GARLIC sausage with Green Peppers and Onions on a roll. Tasted like sausage from Publix and was a bit fatty. I just ate the sausage and absolutely no garlic flavor. The last thing I ate was the Chicken popper in a paper cone with mango mustard sauce. There's a loooong line for these, don't be fooled. No garlic flavor, so there's that. In the last complaint, I paid 20.00 extra for the rides. It would have been very honest if they said they were KIDDY RIDES and not adult rides. The picture we all agreed on showed a adult size ferris wheel. Maybe you think this is just me ha! the people in front of me at the chicken mango mustard line were talking about it too. They also bought tickets and didn't go on one ride, because they were kiddy rides. One thing that was good, Two guys who have opened a line of Vodka, Whisky and Gin were giving tasters and my 3 friends agreed what they were advertising was very good. I recommend TROUBLE that was the name of this Floridan brand. I will get some. Some of the vendors had some good stuff. Other than that I just had to vent and say I threw away 20.00 on a ride ticket I never used and so did other people. We all agreed it was a bust and we wouldn't do it again. read more

Just shown' a lil' more festival love now that I have attended for a 2nd year (2013 & 2014) - I truly hope to time my trips to be in Delray for this festival each year! The food selection and set up this year was about identical to last year. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" I suppose! What they SHOULD do is offer those fantastic garlic crab cakes in two places though - the line moves quickly but is always long for them cause they are hands down the best thing here!! So delicious - mom & I once again chose to share the platter offering 2 and served over a bed of greens, sauce over top and enjoyed every bite!! As for the rest of the food, this year we tried the garlic mahi served with yellow rice and veggies - definitely good and a huge portion. Much, much better than the mahi tacos we tried last year. The wings were disappointing this time around - kind fatty and way too salty. As for the vendors, I really racked up this year on great foodie items to bring home with me. Especially love tasting all the different hot sauce vendors. Eventually purchased some dried pastas, passion fruit flavored vinegar, spicy mango marinade for my fish, garlic dips, rum cake and some tasty homemade jams & jellies! Please don't come here thinking that garlic is all that's on the menu. Oh no - that is just the highlight!! Bought some fun new sun dresses, jewelry and artwork as well - lots of vendors to choose from so make sure to bring cash as only about half of the vendors accept credit cards. Musical acts were good and the price is right as long as you come on Saturday before 6 or anytime Sunday, if so your price is $10. Primetime admission after 8pm is $20 though, which by the way, does not include the cost of food and drinks. Those tickets are sold separately. Well worth checking out if you have never been. Went on a Sunday for two people $30 total for entrance to fest and parking. The shuttle was great and was an organized plus. As far as the actual Festival went I thought it was very generic and really don't think worth the $30. Taking our time, it only took about 20 mins to see all the vendors.. I love festivals for the unique food and although there was plenty of "garlic" food available it would have been much better if food trucks were in there able to put their take on their unique items and incorporate garlic. Nothing unique about scooping minced garlic on fries and calling them garlic fries, same "garlic crab cakes" "garlic sausage and pepper".. like I said just thought generic and won't be going back next year. read more

I went with wife and kid it cost me $70.00 and got nothing other than a shuttle with some annoying person soliciting donations the whole ride. The food was disgusting and dry from sitting on a hot stove for many hours. Some nice vendors but this whole thing should be a free street fair. Total scam a will NEVER go back. read more

I was disappointed. It was like any other old carnival/ flea market. With a couple of typical fair foods, only now with garlic, thrown in. I think the alligator they killed to make my gator bites had to be a senior citizen. And I paid $12 for the serving. They did a great job on entertainment though- and as long as you don't expect much in the way of a more "foodie" type festival it was good for a change of pace. read more

Whoever decided to put the incompetent police force in charge of entering the park should be fired. If you end up making it into the park Without waiting in a car line for 15 mins that directed you to the coned section of the road only to detour us out of the line and back onto the road, and 3 mins later let all the cars in behind you that were waiting, congrats to you. When we finally entered in from the other side of the road and spoke to the police about why they are now letting in the same line they told us to leave, their response was to go up the road and get a shuttle. I'm sorry pal, but with two babies and a stroller a shuttle bus is not even a question. Hopefully the garlic fest once inside isn't a bust but terrible police regulated parking. Great food, HORRIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE. While my friends and I all agreed that the food we had was delicious, we also agreed that it could have been planned better. I bought an amazing cross with rings around it and it was inscribed 'perseverance'. It was a stainless steel chain and the cross pendant. My ex husband stole it along with all of my jewelry. I would love to replace it but don't know who the vendor was. Please help! Thank you. read more

Great food, music, and art festival. We had garlic curry chicken shish kabobs, garlic fries, and buffalo chicken philly with garlic. There's a bunch of vendors selling all kinds of cool artwork. It was also a PERFECT day for a festival. We got there early before any of the lines got crazy. Third year we've gone. read more

Where's the garlic? Any festival named "Garlic Fest" should reek of the stuff from miles away. Not so. Here I found hardly any garlic dishes, and nothing to speak of in the form of entertainment. There were the usual booths with bad art and a few things to buy, but if you're like me & wanted to taste some amazing garlic dishes, sauces, etc, then this may just be a big disappointment. read more

Overpriced festival food. Had the spinach portabello mushroom, lemon ice, wings and fries. None were anything to write home about. The best thing about it was the live music. We saw several people reject the $10 ($20 after 6 p.m.) admission fee. If you have $50 to blow and you are looking for a new adventure, you could try this. ONCE. This place is not worth your money!!! They have no chairs by the food venues. The chairs are all the way on the other side of the park with no shade. They don't sell water but won't let you bring any in, even for medical reasons. I bought a $5 lemon-aid which had no lemons and a $5 garlic ice cream that was literally vanilla ice cream mixed with a extremely small amount of minced garlic. This place is nothing more than a over priced flea market of junk. Just a example one person was selling a $60 clay pottery bowl that I know they got on Amazon for $5. Don't waste you money here, even the beer tent didn't have chairs that's f*$#ed up. read more

We set out for the Garlic Festival for a day of fun, but we just were not impressed. First of all, when we arrived, the parking areas were full. This was frustrating. We paid the entrance fee not knowing what to expect. Well, the entrance fee is just that, an ENTRANCE FEE. It doesn't get you anything but through the doors. I thought the price was a little steep for not including anything. Then, if you want to buy food (and I believe ride the rides), you can't use money. You have to buy tickets. 1 ticket costs $1. No exceptions, no deals (e.g., 30 tickets for $25), nothing. And no refunds. So at the end of the day, if you are leaving the park and didn't use two tickets, you just threw away $2. I'm sure they make tons of money on this alone. Food is EXPENSIVE. $9 for a sandwich, $5 for corn, $5 for a pretzel, $12 for conch fritters, $15 for ribs, you get the point. Expensive. And if you want to buy more, but you didn't get enough tickets, you have to walk back to a designated ticket booth to get more. Huge inconvenience. While we were waiting in the 20 minute line for CORN, we were watching them cook some other dishes, and were disappointed to see that they were just pouring garlic powder on everything! I think that is ridiculous-anyone can throw garlic powder on their food. We didn't feel like any of the food we ate was all that great. Some of it was actually not appetizing at all. Some of the prices on the menu were wrong, so we went to go buy something, found out it cost more than was advertised, and had to trek back to the ticket booth. And as for the actual fair, it is quite small and underwhelming. We saw every booth in less than 2 hours. Just a disappointment-if the fair was bigger, or the entrance fee included something, maybe I wouldn't feel so ripped off-but I just thought the whole thing was way more expensive than what it was worth. There was a large crowd there on Sunday. Everyone looked like they were enjoying the Fest. Our food expectations were set too high. We had read other reviews and were expecting the garlic crab cakes to be very good. Much to our surprise the garlic crab cakes we had were mostly stuffing. We couldn't decide if the little white bits were crab or garlic. Disappointing. We also tried the garlic pizza which was also disappointing. Too much cheese and too little garlic. We couldn't even decide what the cheese was. After these disappointments we didn't chance anything else. Lots of craft and stuff vendors. At least one said his items were not made in China! We are snow birds who have gone to other Delray festivals, as well as the famous Gilroy CA garlic festival. We also went to the recent South Florida Festival in West Palm Beach. I was rather disappointed. I expected more. I only went on Saturday morning and afternoon. And there was no music... What, I have to wait until the night. The cost was $10. Four rows of vendors. One cooking demo, and it was not well attended. Went to the main stage. Just announcements, then a guitar player. What? Maybe I missed it. Nought a few carnival items, a $4 hot dog, a $6 beer, and got a free yogurt. I know the money goes to a worthy cause - nonprofit art groups which we support. But where were they? One Irish play group I saw represented at a booth. I was looking for more than vendors. Cooking? I was not ready to try it all for a very high price. Not sure it was better than people have claimed. I have gone to nice places on Atlantic Ave., but did not see any of these restaurants represented. Really sad, Delray. I heard about the chefs come petition, but did not see anything..... Really. I am giving two stars because. I like Delray and want to support Delray. But really, the South Florida Fair was the same price for 25 times more, really!!!!!! There was one children's activity area, not big, not more than 10 minutes worth of their time. Some carnival rides and the Merry go round that has been there since Thanksgiving. Not really worth it for the kiddos, not like New Year's Eve which had ten times the activities for children and adults. Even if it rained a little on New Year's! Sorry, Delray, volunteers you need encouragement. Your organization needs a boost, not your fault. We left and walked up the street to go to Kilwins rather than eat expensive garlic ice cream that was just so so. One stinking strike out of a non party. read more
