We saw about 35 decorated boats head south past us for 45 minutes. The Boynton Beach holiday boat parade is held annually on the second Friday in December from 630 until 830. The parade features festively decorated boats, this is the premier holiday attraction along the intercoastal. It's a partnership with the towns of Hypoluxo, Boynton Beach, Lantana and Delray Beavh. a combination of privately owned and commercial vessels are decked out with dazzling lights, holiday decor, costumed captains, and lots of music, they travel along the intercostal waterfront. There are lots of parks and restaurants along the route to watch the festivities. Many of the intercoastal bridges will remain upright when the boat parade passes through the area. At 6:30 the parade formed at the Ocean Ave., Bridge in Lantana near the old Keylime House. The boats passed by the Boynton Beach waterfront, Delray, and ended on Linton Boulevard. Prized were awarded for the most creative boats in three different size categories. Initially, Toys for tots were collected .

I was melting as soon as I got out of the car... thankfully the event was well organized and the "check-in" was a breeze. We got our tickets at the "will call" tent and in less than 2 minutes we were in. Immediately greeted with our tasking beer mug to quench the thirst. Tents were labeled clearly, including Yelp, first in line, helping welcome everyone. They had some tents for crafts, jewelry, and clothing vendors, as well as some wine, vodka, and tequila brands. The breweries' tents each had at least 2 different beers from their line for us to taste. Everyone was very friendly, explaining the differences between the beers they were offering, and some even took the time to learn a little about your beer taste to make recommendations. Was surprised how even being so hot outside, they managed to maintain the beers cold which was so much appreciated and so refreshing. Plus the amount of beer served was great, not that sip you usually get at some other tasting events, and if you liked it, you could come back for more. I'm not too familiar with beer, just recently I started enjoying drinking it at social gatherings or with friends so I love these types of events to help me learn more and have more options for what to bring to a party or serve my friends when entertaining. Obviously I was able to find some I liked here. Between all my tastings here's the ones I'll be adding to my "Beer List": Rooney's Old Irish Ale Widmer Brothers Brewing Alchemy Ale Coronado Brewing Company Idiot IPA (must admit I tried this one for the name) :p Breckenridge Brewery SummerBright Know Breing Wilua Ale I loved that they had a selection of local beers on tap like Holy Mackerel, The Native, TBC and more. Now, this was also a Burger event so of course we tried those too. I don't know how many there were to try but I do remember my favorite ones. Chuck, in my opinion, definitely wins the "Best Burger" title. That burger was perfection. Classic, juicy, flavorful, comforting... Not surprised at all they got the "King of all Burgers" title last year. My "Best Alternative" went to Cha Cha's with their slider Kale & quinoa burger with humus on whole wheat. My last award, the "Most Innovative Burger" went to Vic & Angelo's Saltimbocca Burger. This was a sage infused burger with black garlic aioli, sun-dried tomato marmalade, prosciutto di parma, gorgonzola dolce and baby spinach. All I can say is I want more!! Absolutely amazing that burger... Other two worth mentioning were the ones from III Forks and Four Seasons. This was their Second year doing this event and, by what I experienced, I'd say (and hope) they have many more years to come. It was an excellent event, fun, delicious, and great way to promote their businesses. Making a note to lookout for next year's dates.

We arrived at PGA National and walked into the lobby, there were no signs showing where Beerfest was actually being held. Myself, my husband and a few groups of other people walked straight to where a wedding was taking place. We finally found someone who could direct us on where to go. The check in lines were long and confusing. We went into the first room, it was full, but not quite wall to wall, yet. We got into the bigger ballroom, it was packed, you couldn't move, you had to wait in line for most beers. A lot of the vendors were giving out warm beer and cider because they couldn't keep up with the demand. I was so looking forward to food, and I was hugely disappointed, there was only 2 food stations (that I saw) both had lines wrapping around the room, no thanks. We did get to try some good beers and ciders, but overall it was a terrible experience just due to the amount of people that attended. Next year they need to either hold it in a larger area or not sell so many tickets.

Their latest was the Pig Out…read moreGourmet Food Truck, where 10 food trucks gathered on the Resort's grounds for us to taste what they do best. We got there around noon, really hot day but so grateful it wasn't raining. If you got VIP tickets you were allowed in the Heineken tent with misters, and shade from the sun. Or, you could buy your way in for $15 extra. We didn't, instead after walking a bit, we found a table with a little shade and parked there. We just took turns going to the trucks and enjoyed a slight breeze from time to time. When you got in, they gave you a wrist band with detachable numbers. Each food truck was numbered to match those on the wristband. Very smart, to keep track of who had tasted their food already. The lines were very organized, the tickets were collected by JROTC members who were all very polite. Everyone working the food trucks was very friendly and, for the most part, we're very quick to serve the food. Here's what we had: Truck 1 - IL Florentino Small Potatoes Gnocchetti with traditional Italian Bolognese Sauce. I love gnocchi so was very happy with this one, off to a good start! I give this one a Bronze medal (as in Third Place). Why bronze, because I did not love the Bolognese sauce. Truck 2 - Flour Power BBQ Pulled pork sandwich. The pork was supposedly slow roasted in dark beer with onions and garlic but unfortunately their meet was bland and flavorless. Truck 3 - Crazydilla Cubadilla - it's like a Cuban sandwich but in a crispy organic tortilla, with a mustard aioli drizzled on top. This was my favorite of the day! Gold Medal! It was exactly what a Cuban sandwich should be but replacement of the bread with the tortilla made it a bit lighter which I liked a lot. Truck 4 - Philly Grill Philly Cheesetake. The bread was the only good thing about this one. The meat had no flavor, almost no cheese on mine, and the peppers were too sweet, which was the only thing I tasted in each bite. Truck 5 - Inspir-Asian Gluten free chicken, glazed with sweet chili sauce, jasmin rice, and broccoli florets. This got the Silver Medal. Even though the rice had very little flavor, the chicken was delicious and I loved the fact that they added the freshness of the broccoli, helping break out all the heavy food we had yet to try. Plus they had the prettiest presentation of all. Truck 6 - Burger Shack Burger topped with smoked bacon, onions, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, to ago,guacamole, jalapeño, and chipotle mayo. We had to wait 30 minutes for this one... I appreciate the "made to order" but when we took a bite we were all dissapointed. There was no guacamole, no heat, and some of the burgers were overcooked and dry. Truck 7 - Lobsta Rollin This was a no show so, really only 9 trucks... That's what we thought until one of the event employees told us about 3 other food trucks, we could try without the numbers. Good job to the PGA and the vent staff for compensating for this one not showing up, and good job for them advertising it everyone. Truck 8 - Mojo on the Go Pork Tacos topped with BBQ sauce and chipotle slaw. This was good. Meat was very well seasoned, tender but next time I will ask for less BBQ sauce. It was too much and it overpowered the taste of the already beautifully cooked meat. Truck 9 - international Classic Cuisine Gravlax Bouchée - Norwegian cured salmon with cream cheese, capers & dill, in a a baked puff pastry. Presentation was very nice but they went overboard with the dill. It was overwhelming and made it almost impossible to enjoy the dish. Truck 10 - Slow Food Truck Braised short beef rib pulled off the bone with grilled queso fresco, topped with fresh (Florida) Arugula and crispy shallots, on a potato roll. This one shares the Bronze Medal with IL Florentino. The queso Fresco and Arugula work magic on this sandwich. Plus the fact that the meat is so tender wins them points. As I said, we did not buy the extra tickets for the Heineken tent but were able to buy beer, wine, and/ or water from another tent. And once we were done we got to look at the cars on display... A Bentley coupe (that is my "if you win the lotto" car, after a 1974 restored Karman Ghia), an Audi, and some other new and classics but, the one that really caught my attention was "Black Beauty", a 1966 Corvette... Beautiful! These events are a great way to spend the day with friends and/ of family and do something out of the ordinary, get away from the routine. I'll keep an eye for more.

All of the food I had was fantastic. When we got there around noon, it was starting to get hot and we were ready to chow down on some food. Thanks to Yelp and Blue for the tickets (YAY!). We stopped by to say hi to Ashley at the tent and we were off to start the adventure. There was a VIP tent for an additional charge that offered drinks, but we didn't go there. Our wristbands had detachable numbers for us to redeem at each food truck to get the food item we wanted. The numbers were collected by the JROTC members and it was very organized. Most of the trucks were quick to serve the food and the people working on those trucks were deserve a standing ovation for cooking for all of us in the scorching weather today. It was nice to sit down and eat the food in the shade while enjoying the breeze as well. Gotta love South Florida! Here were some of my favorites: Keurig - Strawberry pomegranate! The drinks kept me hydrated throughout the entire time. I probably would have passed out if it wasn't for them. BC Tacos - BBQ pulled pork taco topped with coleslaw and corn and the chicken ceasar taco. Che Grill - BBQ pork empanada and Choripan (Argentinean sausage sandwich) Cheesezilla - Steak and cheese sandwich and the classic grilled cheese with white and yellow American mac/cheese InspirAsian - Fierce Bulgogi Chicken (savory pan fried chicken breasts marinated with a Korean BBQ sauce on top of lettuce, cucumber, and carrots dressed with teriyaki sauce Parabas Grill - Green Chile Cheese Steak Tacos (thin sliced ribeye steak, caramelized onions, chiles, and white cheese The car show was neat. I'm not a big car freak, but it was pretty cool to see all the cars on display and to vote on the best custom car. The new black and red Corvette got my eyes and my vote. They even had a military helicopter to check out as well. I'm glad my husband and I was able to attend this event to pig out and to have a great time. Ah, we were about to burst on the way out and are still stuffed from all of the delicious comfort food. Hell yea!

Craft beer & bites, two of my favorite things! So when I won a pair of passes to this festival…read morethrough the Yelp West Palm Beach Instagram contest, I was ecstatic! I invited my bestie and set off to this adventure, we took the Tri-Rail north to West Palm Beach and we were ready to have a good time! Upon check in we received two drink tickets and four taster tickets each (was plenty). The event was a the Meyers Amphitheatre which has a stage for performance and a big field. We noticed it was quite empty for this big space. We walked around and checked out the vendors and had some bites before we consumed the drinks. I must say the food vendors were delicious here is my list of food vendors I tried: Nancy's Cajun Cooking: Jambalaya $8 - We had one of the best Jambalaya's I've ever had. There was hot sauce to add but it didn't need any. Had plenty of chunks of seafood, meat & chicken. Aioli: Candied Bacon $3 x 2 slices - It was instant gratification on the first bite. My face said it all and the girl behind the counter said "I told you it was good". Indeed it was! Sxs: had fresh oysters. I didn't buy anything here but Alex made me try an oyster that tasted like it had just been plucked out the sea. So fresh, so good. I will make it a point to go visit their restaurant. Mad Hops: a vendor that sales drops to add to bad beer. Yes you read correctly... they have flavored drops to add for example a Miller lite. They have many flavors including cherry, blueberry, hops etc. Great idea but I rather never ever buy bad beer. There was a beer tent where you can sample different beers, most I knew (Funky Budha), some I haven't tried before (Five & 20). They were poured into 4 oz tasting cups. What I did not like is that the bartenders did not know what they were pouring, they knew nothing about the products. I saw many festival goers ask about the types of beers and recommendations and heard the girls say they didn't know anything about the beers, they were just serving them. In my opinion I think this is crucial to have bartenders know what they are serving, it is a beer festival and you should know a little bit about it. There was also another tent serving drinks in a plastic mason jar for $14 and refills were $12. Those drinks were good and strong. The bands that were playing were mostly Alternative Rock, I felt bad because the crowd just wasn't there. No one was jamming by the stage everyone was mostly walking around, eating and drinking. Also they were playing radio commercials in between bands, that was quite annoying. The highlights were meeting fellow Elite Raymond K. and his wife. They were awesome. Raymond hooked it up with some grub from the VIP tent sponsored by 3 Forks. I have to say their food was amazing. I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Filet Mignon with Bearneise sauce on the side, oh so delicious! There was also a tattoo competition that was pretty funny to see. Proceeds of this event went to Friends of Foster Children, that was sweet. Overall, I had a great time but I think this festival needs some work. Entry should include a drink or a taster. I think it was a little expensive considering the beers were mostly known beers and not that exclusive for it to be a Craft Beer festival. I think with less expensive tickets or a better package there will be more attendees. Also having the bartenders learn more about the beer that they are serving is a plus. It takes place at the Meyer Amphitheater in downtown West Palm Beach. We were able to sample at least over a hundred local craft spirits and beers offered by several venues and there were quite a few food vendors to get bites from when you got hungry. When I went on opening night, I was surprised to see that it wasn't busy. On the other hand, it was nice not having to wait in line to get drinks or food. There was a variety of spirits and cocktails that were generously poured by each bartender. The food options weren't too shabby either. The three cheese grilled cheese and candied bacon from Aioli is a must if you go there. Plus, there was a local band playing music for all to enjoy while sipping and eating. The weather was perfect. It wasn't too chilly or too warm for the festival. It was nice having to be outside without having to wear a sweater to warm up on. The food and beverages were plentiful and good. The staff was upbeat and happy to serve whatever we wanted. Thank you Yelp West Palm for the awesome opportunity and all of the tickets that came with it. Cheers!

We got to check out Catskill Haunts Spooky Carnival in Royal Palm Beach just before Halloween. It…read morewas a bit on the short side but very effective. From the moment we stepped into the haunted house, we were transported. The atmosphere was immersive and the scares were perfectly timed. Some of the people they hired to work there took the haunting a little too seriously, screaming and hitting metal walls with boards, to the shock of some of the kids there were horrified and screaming and wanted to leave. But frankly those screams just added to the creepiness of the Halloween experience and we loved it. Well done kids! Overall this was a pretty fun time. Catskill Haunts definitely delivered and it was worth the $10 we paid. If you happen to see them at a local event definitely check it out!

I was beyond excited when I found out that South Florida was going to have its very own music…read morefestival with artists like Capital Cities, St. Lucia, Fitz and The Tantrums, and Two Door Cinema Club. My friend and I immediately bought tickets. This was such a successful event... especially given it was its first run. Not only did they select a great line-up but they made it a "Musiculinary Experience" by adding 11 different breweries including Funky Buddha, Dogfish Head, Magic Hat, 9 food trucks and a variety of art exhibits. The only reason the event didn't get 5 stars was because of the difficulty level of getting any of the beers from the breweries or food from the food trucks. I suffered through one of the brewery's lines and then we tried to go to a food truck but the lines were ridiculously long. We asked a few people about the lines and the average wait had been well over an hour. I have to give them credit for trying though and I'm sure they'll figure out those logistics better for next year's festival. There's something about music that just brings people together. There's this sense of camaraderie when everyone around you is swaying and singing together. And there was no shortage of that at Coastline. The fact that all of the bands had their own way of engaging the audience added to the feel... Kim (Matt & Kim) "walked" on the crowd and amazed us all *she really did step off of the stage and walked and danced on the hands of the crowd (that girl has got some serious core strength!)* and Two Door Cinema Club had us all dancing through their entire set with all their fun & upbeat songs. The crowd had a general sense of happiness and I kept wishing I owned a flower headband and a flowy dress. Not having them didn't stop me from joining the crowd next to me as they jumped and danced in unison to the beat. Again, I'm really impressed with the result of their first run and I'm really looking forward to what's in store for next year's event!

We didn't have to wait for food lines at all! It's always fun to see the cute old ladies dance and just the nice culture. When you are inside the main building it makes a huge difference in the event. If are there just for getting drunk and needing an uber stay outside. If you want to enjoy the food, culture, drinks and music then hang out inside! The best!

The atmosphere was incredible -- live music, traditional German dancing, shopping, and plenty of great beer. You could really feel the energy and community spirit all around. Tickets were only $12, which is such a steal for how much fun we had! We shared the German platter with bratwurst, pickle, and sauerkraut, and it was delicious -- the perfect festival food. We parked at a nearby school and took the free shuttle, which was super convenient and well-organized. The whole event ran so smoothly, and it was clear how much effort went into planning it. I'll definitely be back next year -- it's such a fun and festive way to celebrate Oktoberfest right here in South Florida!

FAU stadium is the football stadium located at the north end of Florida Atlantic University. It's…read morea state of the art facility that holds up to 30000 people. Thursday night was the Boca Raton Bowl. The Boca Bowl is an annual NCAA DIVISION 1 football game. FAU has been hosting this bowl game since 2014. USF played Syracuse. Both my boys were in town and we got free tickets through Rotary so we made it a family night. Plenty of tailgating before the game. Live entertainment, food stands, games and raffles. The stadium was half empty which was pretty sad. This isn't UF where you're packed in with 90000 Gator fans. We did have access to the Premier Club sponsored by Acura. Entrance on the very top of the stadium is with a wrist band only. Free buffet style food is offered, free soft drinks, as well as way overpriced cocktails, beer and assorted alcoholic beverages. The lounge has big screen TVs and seating and there was a DJ. USF pounded Syracuse 45-0.
