All students are selected by lottery after their parents submit them through the CHOICE application, which is due in January of the year before. A unique thing about this school is that it is 1 of 2 public elementary schools in the entire County that accepts 3 year olds into a full-time day program. This is 1 year before VPK, and instead of a half-day program (like VPK), this is a full-day, from 8am-2pm. This is kind of incredible, as we were able to put our 3 year old into school rather than daycare, which is much preferable, as well as cost-saving. However, in order to take advantage of this, you have to submit an application while your child is 2 years old, and most parents are not thinking about applying to the school board website after being a parent for only a couple of years. 3 year olds are put in a mixed classroom of a small group of 3, 4, and 5 year old children, with a lead teacher and an assistant, in a classroom that has Montessori elements to it. All teachers here have received additional schooling in Montessori education, and many have been teaching at the school for decades (as well as having sent their own children to this school). This speaks volumes about the institution itself. We have experienced wonderful care from the teachers here. Spady's official website, like most PBC public school's sites, is confusing and lacks basic information. I knew very little about this school before applying to the program, due to the overwhelming and convoluted system that the School board administers, which is way behind the times. I would love to see a modern website with basic information about the school displayed. If you're reading this, I encourage you to write a review for your children's school, so that parent voices and experiences can shine and help fill in current gaps in information and content.

Our son has been enrolled at KLA Boynton Beach for over three years, starting when he was just over…read morethree months old. In the beginning, we truly loved the school. Under Miss Terri's leadership, it felt warm, consistent, and professionally run. Miss Martha, who worked with the infants, was exceptional and played a huge role in our decision to enroll. Back then, the staff felt experienced and connected to the families. Unfortunately, the school has changed significantly, especially under the new director, Dena. This past year has been the most difficult for us. Staff turnover has been constant--teachers come and go without any communication to the parents. At the beginning of the year, I met a lovely teacher at open house, only to find she was gone within a few weeks. No notice, no introduction to the new teacher--just a revolving door of unfamiliar faces. Most concerning was the lack of support during our son's potty training. We had specifically communicated, multiple times, that we needed the daily progress reports updated for medical reasons, especially so we could track bowel movements. Despite stressing the importance and necessity of this, the reports were rarely, if ever, completed accurately. It was frustrating, disappointing, and inexcusable. There's clearly a lack of training and support among the staff, and it reflects in the daily operations. Given how expensive KLA is, it simply doesn't live up to the high expectations or reputation it once had. It's a real shame, because it used to be a place we felt proud to be part of. We hope the school can take a serious look at its leadership and staffing issues, and return to the quality and care that originally set it apart. Until then, we can't recommend it to other families in good faith.

I'd like to start by saying Professor Chancy is an amazing teacher and person. She is warm-hearted,…read moreintellectual, motivating, capable, fair, honest, and also really funny. Not only does she personally lead some classes, she also runs the school. To do what she does, really takes skill and a vision. I fondly look back at the memories during my time in this program, this school is everything I was looking for in a RN program. Prior to Sunrise School, I had always wanted to see South Florida with my own eyes and enrolling in the school granted me my wish. My imagination of the Miami metropolitan area was always very much so a dreamy one, and graduating from the school was symbolic to my love of this unique part of America. Nothing but good memories of South Florida! I got my Florida license in August, and after only 10 days, the license was fully endorsed to California, much to my amazement by how fast the whole process was considering that it usually takes at least 1 month from what I heard. If you give it your all in this program, you will succeed. Don't make excuses for your shortcomings, take accountability for the grades you receive and just keep trying. Come to class with the right attitude and mindset because Professor Chancy really strives to ensure you understand the curriculum thus you will only pass if you match her efforts, it is only fair. RN school is NOT easy, especially if you're working full time. But again, it's all willpower that makes it possible. If I ever had to do nursing school again, it will definitely be Sunrise School of Nursing. Thank you so much for everything Professor Chancy, and all the teachers & staff that works there.
