As there are not a lot of dog parks in LoHud, we go out of our way to find new ones. This one was a…read morepleasant surprise. First, it is way off the beaten path. Second, there are two ways in from the parking lot. To the right is the more immediate route. To the left is a lengthy--and beautiful hiking trail. It's at least a mile long, with hills, and has a deteriorating exercise path. This leads out into a pasture with paved walk ways. There are not a lot of signs, so just stick to the right and just when you think you will never find it, you will eventually reach the dog park. The park itself is a huge swath of grass surrounded by a fence, which thrilled both my pups. There's not a lot of tree cover, nor is there available water, which was a downer. As we took the trail to get there on a hot summer day, they only had so much energy left to run around, especially after we ran out of water. Still, the park entrance is closer than we realized from the other side, and there are bathrooms, and thus, a sink with water available if you need it. If we are ever out that way again, we'll visit.

Since this run is off the beaten path from the rest of the park, many people have their dogs off leash on these paths, which the park doesn't allow. From parking lot it is about a 1/4 mile walk up a trail to this dog run. Add water, more seating and shade and this is possibly a 3 star run. The trails are free to enter but they do request for volunteer donation for non members. Different tiers of annul membership available to purchase at main office that comes with some wonderful perks, such as free access to trails and special events. The main office also has some of the exhibition items like insect box and turtle box. Outside the office there's also bird and butterfly cages. We went to the center for our daughter to participate in butterfly feeding event. Upon arrival we found out we had to buy the tickets for one of the two scheduled events. Luckily there were slots available to the second event on the day. The ticket was reasonably cheap, only $8. It also came with an additional bird's exhibition that took place right in front of office deck. All the stuff members were very friendly, informative and interactive. We spent wonderful couple of hours here on beautiful warm summer day.

This is a review for a birthday party!…read more We had a fantastic experience planning a birthday party for my son at JumpinJax. Shannon was fantastic to work with to iron out all the details and answered every question we had. Marleen was our day of person and she was great. All decor and set up was ready when we arrived and they set out all the birthday treats for us. This facility is a perfect birthday spot if your group ranges from babies to about 8 years old. We had a handful of tiny tots and mostly kids between 5-6 and it was perfect. Everyone had a great time and I saw staff actively walking around cleaning up the place and making sure to contain the chaos and look out for kids safety. It's definitely not a cheap place to have a kids party, but it was definitely worth it. My only negative feedback would be that the parking lot is tight and got crowded fast. A lot of our guest had to circle for a spot. The second feedback would be that they could definitely benefit from getting a better caterer. The pizza was pretty disappointing even by a kids standard and they all went for the fruit and veggie plates originally got for the adults. Otherwise it was great! I would definitely reconsider having another party here or bringing the kids on a rainy weekend. Thanks JumpinJax!
