The county clerk that I spoke to, David Serra was not only hostile with his tone of voice but his hand gestures as well. He kept cutting me off when I asked a simple question. I asked if he was ok and he replied "no, I am not ok. I am insane. " Verbatim. I apologized and was too afraid to ask why my reinstatement on my receipt said traffic school when I had completed that online. I left feeling unsafe and hoped it wasn't a mistake being charged again for the traffic school. Also, I really hope he gets the medical attention he needs to prevent him from treating others in the future less than. As far as the experience at the dmv across the hall, it was the complete opposite. Shirley was informative, courteous, patient and respectful. Maybe David Serra can learn from Shirleys exceptional service? I left within an 2 hours. Discouraged from all the fees, and Davids inappropriate behavior, but relieved that at least one employee enjoyed their job.

Im in the Miami Dade Children's Courthouse a couple times a month. The judicial system has plenty…read moreof kinks, so Im going to stick to the architecture of the building instead of what happens inside. This courthouse is one of the newest in Miami. It has large pane glass windows facing south on every floor, with square rainbow glass inlays covering the facade, that let you see the entire miami skyline and over to Key Biscayne. Unlike the other courthouses, Lots of light brightens up the place. Children come and go constantly so there are sweet touches, like sculptures of big and small bears that are sprinkled throughout the lobby and upper floors. The lower roof has a unique grass insulation layer, common in Europe, but not so big in the US yet. Props to the planners for being environmentally friendly and economically conscious. The best part of this building is that it is right across the street from the metrorail and people mover. Easy access to great restaurants around downtown. If you have to go and sit in court for hours on end, then having access to a nice lunch after is a good reward.

October 12, 2016 my family (husband, 6yr old and mother) and I were rear ended on northbound I75…read more We were struck in the middle lane during rush hour traffic. We sat there extremely nervous that someone would slam into the back of the car that already hit us. As we sat there 2 BSO officers in cars and 1 motorcycle officer, also BSO passed right by us. Not one of them stopped. The next thing we know, an off duty police officer from the Miramar Police Department, clearly on his way home, stopped. He checked on us and on the person who hit us and let us know he also called in the accident. He let us know he was going to stop traffic for us so we could pull our cars off to the side of the road. He did that. He also waited until Fire rescue arrived. We know he didn't need to stop, but we were happy he did. Someone not paying attention could have hit us again. Because of his actions only our cars were damaged and we all walked away without additional injury. I wish I could tell you that this was the first time they have helped us, however, it was not. When my husband experienced identity theft a few years ago, they were the ONLY law enforcement agency that would write a police report. All the other offices told us it was a waste of time. Kudos Miramar police for taking care of EVERYONE, not just people living in your jurisdiction.

I don't know who was responsible but somebody does not play. That was the quickest construction project I've ever seen. This building offer a lot of services. You can pay your water bill or check out the library while you're waiting for your number to be called. There is also a clerk of courts office here and a cute little cafe. All on the ground level. The upper levels (I am assuming) are for other matters such as elected officials office and the such. Another thing that was added with the new construction was a parking garage. Parking used to be a bit challenging in the past and I think some people (me included) just didn't feel safe there. All of that has since changed. I haven't had to come to the Jospeh Caleb center outside of business which doesn't require me to frequent it that often outside of once a year. I am happy about the change and look forward to seeing more changes in the future as this is a great area to live in!

I waited about 5 minutes to get checked in as the officer on duty was busy on the phone. After I handed over my passport and proof of residency (drivers license) I was called in to the back room for my "interview". The interview consisted of about 6 questions, pictures, and fingerprinting (seriously this Govt has wayyy too many copies of my fingerprints at this point). I was immediately told I was approved and was sent on my way. My appointment was at 2:15pm and I walked out of the building at 2:17pm. Very easy! PRO TIP.... my GPS seemed to indicate I should drive a little further east on Eller, and therefore have to enter the port (through security). The building is directly on the corner of Eller Dr. and McIntosh Rd., don't enter the port!

So it was time for me to jump onto the TSA precheck bandwagon, as I've been traveling a little…read moremore, and it seemed like it would be money well spent. After a little research I decided that it was definitely more economical to do Global Entry rather than TSA precheck. Global entry costs $15 more ($100 instead of $85) but you get the benefits of TSA precheck as well as an expedited customs experience if you're arriving from an international flight. I figured the extra benefit was worth the extra $15 especially knowing I have international trips coming up. I applied via the Global Online Enrollment Sytetem (GOES) back at the end of March. Within a week or so I was given the opportunity to make an appointment for my interview. There are plenty of options and I picked pretty much the earliest one available on June 1st, and was able to get a time that worked well with my lunch break as it was a Wednesday and I would have to work. For the interview you need to bring your passport and driver license. The day of my interview finally arrived and I drove down to the address given. As everyone else has mentioned do not enter the port, as your driving towards the port entry there's a big building on the right, that's where you need to be. Parking was pretty easy and I entered the building. At first I was pretty worried. There were quite a few people inside waiting, and they looked like they had been there awhile. I approached the window and said I was there for my global entry interview, at which point the man knew who I was and I was escorted to the back within about two minutes. I got some nasty looks from the people who were waiting....I think they may have been waiting to actually clear customs. The man who did my interview was friendly, asked a few pretty basic questions like where I lived and I why I was interested in global entry. From there I had my picture taken (you're allowed to smile for this one) and I was informed that I was approved, would receive an approval email, and then a global entry card in the mail with my traveler ID number within a week or so. I just got my card and the picture was pretty awful, but that's to be expected. Global entry status lasts for five years, but expires on your birthday. In my case it worked out that I got an extra month or so past the five years because my birthday is in July, so keep in mind your birthday month to get the best value (I assume going a month or two after your birthday may result in an expiration that's just shy of 5 years). My experience here far exceeded anything I would expect from the government (I was prepped for something DMV-esque) and I'm grateful it went so smoothly as my lunch break is only an hour. I have yet to use the global entry, but I can say going through the process at this office is a breeze.
