Self-storage with 24-hour access - including initial signup! Vacating my Connecticut apartment for a move to NYC, I needed to temporarily store my things nearby until I could decide what would be moving with me. I had a truck loaded, ready to go, but misread the hours to the office of the storage unit I had reserved; it had closed. I also had promised the truck would be returned that night. I sat at my computer, Googling for any place I could empty that truck and get it back before sunrise (kneecaps at stake). Fortunately, my cousin managed to find South Salem Self-storage and get Steven directly on the phone. He patiently explained how he could offer a solution. The access to South Salem Self-storage is fully automated. A kiosk provides an interface to rent a unit, make payments and, if necessary, engage in a video call with a staff person. Steven wanted to make sure we saw the unit before making a financial commitment, so he gave us directions and a method to access it. As exhausted as we were, it took some time to decide on the best unit, and Steven continued to make himself available throughout the process. I couldn't be more grateful for his genuine willingness to provide the best service; Steven truly earns a customer's business. I was able to move everything out at the end of the month, and received a call from Steven -- on Labor Day -- to confirm the address to which a check for the deposit could be mailed. The fact that the facility can be accessed through an entirely automated system made it possible to rent at an unconventional hour. We started using South Salem self-storage a few years ago, initially because of the convenience of where it was relative to my house but it was by far the best option. The owner Steve is very nice and reasonable, the units are all very clean and it helps alot to be able to access your stuff at any time. The pricing is also reasonable which is what allowed us to keep the unit for what eventually ended up being around 3 years. My wife and I had a great experience with South Salem Self-Storage. The owner, Steven, personally met with us on short notice on a Saturday morning to give us a tour of the facility. He also gave us his cell number in case we had any questions. Any time I called or emailed him, he responded right away. There probably aren't many storage facilities around where the owner is so hands-on. The facility was very clean and easy to use. With the stress from selling one home and moving into another, it was nice to know that we were in good hands and didn't have to worry about any added headaches from our storage facility. read more
