Have recently used Bema Brothers for 2 more residential moves . One from New Haven and the other from Cambridge. My satisfaction with this company stands . The crews were courteous and professional, arrived on time and made the move seem simple. They are a pleasure to deal with and the price is fair. I definitely recommend them . Just wanted to add to my complimentary review of Bema Brothers. I used them to move my daughter into Manhattan in March and again the service was great and the price was right. All involved were professional and careful with my daughter's furnishings Recently called and secured them to move my son's furnishings from storage in Norwalk to an apartment in Washington DC. Again the move went without a hitch. I can say I was lucky the first time I found Nick and his crew. I will continue to use Bema Brothers and recommend this company. read more

Do not work with this company. The owner, Nick, is completely incompetent. I had to consistently micromanage through the booking process. His inability to respond in a reasonable time was totally unprofessional. I had to prod him at least five times to send a countersigned contract (although he managed to go to the bank immediately to deposit my initial payment). I also had to continuously email him with questions that should have been quick, because he was unresponsive. The last thing you want to do when you're moving is micromanage your movers. I should have taken the hint from the lack of professionalism and not have worked with them, but they gave a good price for my move, so I put up with it. Big mistake. They damaged a number of my belongings on the move, and have subsequently been (big surprise!) totally unresponsive in getting everything fixed. I will also post pictures of all of the damage incurred during the move to discourage everyone else from booking with Bema Brothers. I'm contemplating taking this matter to small claims court and will certainly update the review if I win a judgment on the matter. Nick and his partner broke the glass on a large breakfront that was going to auction. He never replaced it as promised. I laid out $100 for the repair which he assured me would be reimbursed. After calling him for 3 weeks for the payment... he unresponsive and not paying me back. Just a side note, I tipped them well and bought lunch for them . Nick the owner got 2 of 3 very important pieces of info totally WRONG. The only 3- I cared about when moving were: Price, Start time and quality of move. 1st: Price- my agreement said: 4-6 hours. Move took 10! He came, he saw and he quoted WAY WRONG! 2nd: Start Time: we agreed on 8AM. His guys showed up 8 hours later!!!! They came at 4pm. They were moving us until 1AM!!!!! I moved a couple of months ago. They were initially very responsive and came over to give me a quote. I mentioned that I was packing, but would like them to finish off what I had not gotten to if I was not all done. I was quoted the cost of an estimated 4 hour move. I was specific about a start time of 10am as I had to do a walk through and closing the same day as the move. They showed up an hour earlier - I was still dealing with the closing was not there/ready. We had to ask them to wait. They then walked in and asked us if we had heavy duty bags for my things (sofa cushions etc). They had not told me prior to the day that I needed these. We were sent out shopping "or you could leave it and your things would just get dirty". They were not apologetic about this lack of communication. They bough some wrapping for the furniture, but they did not wrap the bottom of most furniture so lots of minor damage. There were 4 ppl. One was a handy man (built and took apart furniture). One a mover. The other 2 did not speak English and wore shirts from Mario's landscaping. As the day progressed it was clear that they knew nothing about moving and that there was only one guy that was a mover who knew what he was doing and was trying to direct them. Upstairs I had things like my bedding on the bed that had not been packed. I later found they had carried it all down AS IS, and dumped it on the garage floor. The "mover" took off for several hours and the company owner came and stood around but did very little to replace the work the other one had been doing. Meanwhile I am paying by the hour. To add to the joy the owner complained to me because the packing was not all done (refer to first paragraph). I was upset to see my things on the ground in the dirty garage. At some point the handyman decided that they had been there long enough and started demanding we get going to the new place as things would need building. All my things were not yet in the truck - there were boxes etc still to be loaded but he felt that enough time had been spent at the old property. At the new property - owner stood in the truck. I carried boxes and things like never before. The "mover" was missing. The landscaping guys needed direction but there was no one but me. Owner does not speak Spanish but hires 2 Spanish speaking guys. Boxes ended up everywhere - despite names, a clear explanation to the English speaking handyman about whose room is whose and where things need to go. They unpacked and left a ton of things in the garage - not where I wanted them. The real kicker - the damage. They made significant deep scratches in the hardwood floors in my bedroom. There were many superficial ones as well. Dented a wall. Scratched another wall.They moved my bed in front of the scratch to try and hide it (I say this because the bed was left in a really weird spot). They also left empty plastic drink bottles outside for me to throw out. All in all the move took twice as long as quoted, things got damaged, they did not finish the job. They were not responsive to remedy issues that became apparent after they left and they were not upfront about the damage they had caused (and it was not subtle). I emailed Nick the owner several times and he agreed to meet twice, but never showed up. He has since ignored my emails. I could not have asked for a more awful moving experience. I chose this company as it had good reviews here but BUYER BEWARE especially if it's going to be a long-distance move!! My friend was moving from Upstate NY to CT at my home and it didn't start off well. The movers were late within their arrival window approx. 1.5 hours late. We then were missing the two wardrobe boxes we were promised. During the start of the move they were doing fine, very quick and careful from what I seen but I was moving other things myself so couldn't be too observant. They arrived at my house prior to our arrival into CT and that's when things went downhill. My mother was at my house directing where things needed to go, in our absence and then the calls started. They couldn't get a couch and love seat from a non attached sectional up my stairs.... all because of a door knob. They then wanted to place in my garage this is not the place to stick almost brand new furniture into "storage"!! After about three calls my mother said the couch was on the front lawn and I flipped. I directed her to instruct them to either remove the doorknob or the door... they finally complied. Upon my arrival they had already left but both rooms where things were being stored were a MESS! Things were just thrown in and I had to re-arrange to be able to get into the rooms. This is NOT professional work IMO! Then... the following day is where my friend noticed damage. She takes VERY good care of her furniture and her dresser mirror had a big chunk of wood broke off, the chest had white paint marks all over it and the head and foot boards were scratched and had the same white paint scrapes. I then noticed my upstairs light was busted along with the globe and pieces of glass on the floor. Apparently this was a cover up instead of being honest and telling someone they broke it. The following few days of emails back/forth attached with pictures sent to Nick I was told "they didn't do the damage, but would send his repair man to fix the furniture" sounds like an admission of guilt to me! He then said the damage was normal wear/tear! I BEG TO DIFFER Nick!!! I declined as I'll fix the furniture myself before I allow them to touch anymore of my/my friends things! Not a dime of compensation was offered and they were given a hefty tip because I was sure we'd arrive before they did... boy was I wrong. Lesson learned!NEVER pay tip or balance of bill until you see and are satisfied with work. They MAY be "OK" for small moves and short distances but not over 300 miles and a 8+ hour day.. too much for them to handle I guess. Be VERY careful with them folks!!!! read more

I get very anxious about moving, but the entire moving crew gave me peace of mind with their efficient and productive move. I loved how Nick was flexible with the move time and had no problems with moving it up earlier. The movers (Andrew and Jeff, I believe) were very fast and efficient, and I just had to sit back and relax as they did their thing. They were organized and wrapped all the furniture that needed to be wrapped. I did a move from New Haven to Stamford for a studio and everything was done in less than 4 hours! From the first call to the payment, everything was smoother than I ever imagined and I thank them for everything and their work! To note: clarify your payment method before so you are both clear when you pay! I wasn't made aware of any insurance options (not that I needed any) but might be good to bring up in your first phone call as well. Overall, they were straightforward, not like the con-artist sounding big moving companies or aggressive movers who just want your money. Strongly recommend Bema Brothers!! read more

I wanted to have a pleasant moving experience with Bema, but they ended up being a no show. At first Nick was very responsive in getting me a quote and providing details about my scheduled move. Once I gave him the deposit, communication stopped. The night before my scheduled move I realized I never received a confirmation call which I thought was odd (I have moved across the country twice and this has always happened). Nick and his team were scheduled to arrive at 9am. I began calling both the business number and his cell phone at 9:30. I also sent Nick emails and left voicemails trying to get in touch with him. I ended up talking to some guy who found Nick's phone instead of Nick. Since I had to be out of my apartment I ended up frantically calling other movers to see who could help me out that day, luckily I found someone. I understand mistakes happen, and losing your cell phone isn't ideal. But to run a business only relying on your cell phone is a poor business model. He did give my deposit back, and I hope he has another process in place so this doesn't happen in the future. read more

We used Bema for a local move this weekend. We had originally arranged for a Wed. move but had to change when the floors weren't dry. Nick accommodated the change and arranged for a late Friday pickup. They guys arrived late afternoon after a long trip/delivery from Indiana. They worked fast and efficiently to get us out and then in on the same day. Nick provided the estimate and was our contact; he made the process easy and our final cost was less than estimated. These guys were fantastic! Worked with Nick to arrange the move and Brendyn and Dudley were on time and incredibly efficient and super careful with our furniture. We chose to take a slightly more active role in the move, helping Brendyn and Dudley out where we could be useful. They were great guys to spend the day working with. Started at 9-ish and done by about 1pm-ish. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better all around deal (and great people) than Bema, the price is hourly for the team (including and truck/equipment) so no add-in's, no fees or unneeded complications. We had a fantastic experience moving with Bema Bros. from Norwalk to Wilton. They were professional from the first phone call through the delivery of the last piece of furniture. For starters, a real human being answered their phone, and they provided critical information right away- we didn't have to fill out endless forms online. Their quote was very reasonable and accurate- they charged exactly what they estimated. And everyone we worked with- their office folks and their movers- were unfailingly polite and cheerful. Bema Brothers are the best. We've used them for three different moves now, and no matter what crazy stuff gets thrown at them, they're professional, courteous, and fast. They get huge bonus points from me for being so kind to my kids and nice in some stressful situations (no one is at their best during a move...). Andrew is awesome - super communicative and smart. Once you give him directions you can basically sit back and watch your house walk out the door (even a ridiculously heavy breakfront and piano). AWFUL experience! The movers themselves were on time and polite, however the results were atrocious! The movers were extremely slow . In addition, they ruined multiple items of furniture. When I reached out to the company about this, I was told to send pictures via email and I did. Then NO RESPONSE AT ALL!! Insured as they say? We moved a long way n I never liked the way they handle packing goods. My dinning table was broken by the people who kept it in the storage area. To reach out to Nick we had to call him several times. Nicks response was to claim it per lb n the value was like 100$. I lucked out by finding Bema Brother's off of Angie's List. They recently helped us with our move and did an excellent job. I usually check Yelp first for reviews but since I didn't find many movers in the Fairfield County area I signed up for Angie's List. I wanted to make sure they are added to Yelp! so others would consider their service. Nick and his team worked really hard to move our belongings into storage and a condo. We lived in a 3 bedroom house and had a lot of stuff. They moved everything without damaging anything and did it all with such a positive attitude. They arrived promptly as promised and immediately went to work. They also work very fast but we just had a lot of stuff so it took a while. I would highly recommend them. I was really nervous about using a moving company for the first time but I'm glad we chose Bema Brothers. Nick promptly answered all of my questions before the move and his entire team was professional and did an excellent job. Yesterday, my son was moving in the Danbury, Ct. area. I could not have asked for a better group of guys to assist us with the move. When I had made the arrangements with Nick, he assured me that I would be pleased with the outcome, and that his moving men would be totally professional. I am happy to report that he was so correct. The men he sent us were extremely polite and courteous. More importantly, however, they needed little or no supervision. They knew exactly what do and how to do it, including how to best utilize truck space. Although I'm in shock, but relieved that Those who used Them, I have a Very Different Experience with Nick and his Staff...here goes. Two Years and 3 Days today, we left Weston, CT for Cape Cod and NYC. The Staff of Beema Brothers, led by Brendyn was great. Only issue, after signing off on the Move, I never received an Inventory List, which I signed. I felt very good about storing a large Inventory of our Antiques in Nicks warehouse, which he assured me was in Westport. HOWEVER, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE! In September, when the Pieces arrived, I took the Guys over to our Storage Unit and again, they Didn't have any Arriving Inventory list, nor a Bill to be paid and was told, when asked Well, You Know Nick.!! That following Sunday, My Husband and I Discovered, that 2 Irreplaceable Rugs (totaling owner $30,000) which I showed Nick in the Walk Through, then they were rolled up, covered in paper and put Away. I Contacted Joan and Kate at Treasures Unlimited, located in Norwalk, Ct, who conducted our Estate Sale and They concurred that these Priceless Rugs were still there, as I knew, during their 3 Days there. They are an Amazing Team, should you need any help in selling your precious items. Fast Forward to September, when I called Brendan, when my Husband discovered Our Rugs Didn't make it, he said to call Nick. Nick then said don't worry, I'll find them. Yeah, right. He then proceeded to NOT return phone calls to me, nor my Husband. The worst BETRAYAL was when he assured Me that they will store our Treasures at his Storage Place in Westport, which turned out to be his home. he revealed that our Furniture was at CUBE-SMART in Norwalk. Out and Out Reversal of what was originally promised. When he finally spoke to My Husband, he admitted Our Rugs were indeed missing, after 5 Months of cat and mouse behavior on Nick's Part, his Insurance would only cover $2 per pound, Thank You very Much! Recipients of Nick Eoanou's Turned Around Customer Service, which Appears to have Begin at my expense, after this Debacle with him Last. September before last. .
