I take my car in there as recommended for upkeep maintenance and I never worry about what has to be done as they go above and beyond. They look after me, if I need parts out of regular service Mark takes the time to make the calls and gets the best deals! The mechanics are honest, efficient and check beyond the service the car is in for to make sure all is good with my vehicle! I have recently moved but will continue to bring my car to Marks, finding a reputable Service Centre that is honest and works for your best is very hard to find! He immediately started yelling at me because he thought I wanted to have the work done immediately, when I specifically told him I wanted to make an appointment for another day. I cleared that up and politely asked him to lower his voice. Normally I would not put up with someone like this who obviously in a really bad mood and took it out on a potential customer. I operate my own business and I have dealt with people like this therefore I wanted to at least give him a chance. Next I explained what I needed done and that I had already purchased the parts. I expected to pay the full shop rate for the labour. He didn't like this at all. Flying off the handle would be putting it mildly. He was livid with me! He was screaming and yelling at me threatening to charge me double and there was nothing I could do about it. He started to say "You's people ...." I felt the next words would have been racial but he paused and explained that he wanted to sell me the parts so he can charge me the markup. Originally I had purchased the parts online, and I was going to install the parts myself when I figured it was too difficult for my skill level. The one other time I visited this business I had a wonderful experience because Mark (the owner of the business) was not involved in the transaction in any way. I really feel sorry for the employees at this business having a boss who is this way. One good thing to come out of this situation is that because Mark (the owner of the business) upset me in such a way that my determination to handle the job myself in my driveway was elevated enough that I did the job myself. If I had a hoist and an oxy acetylene torch to heat the rusted bolts, the entire job would have taken me less than an hour. There is no reason for any business owner to treat potential customers this way. When I was younger I had a boss like this. He treated me well, but was very mean and disrespectful to the other employees and customers for no reason at all. After listing to him in a very bad mood like this for 30 days I just got up and said I am leaving and not coming back, I have had enough listening to you. I will never deal with Marks Auto Service ever again and I certainly will NEVER give this business my money. I run my own business and I know how to deal with people, This is what brings me more business. I typically don't believe reviews, I want to give the business a chance. HOWEVER, If you don't believe me, just read other reviews describing the owners behavior!! Maybe it's time for the old man to retire.

I submitted a question regarding this repair through AE's website and promptly received a response. They were very friendly and provided their information to me so I could arrange a date and time for the repair. They have advised me of the cost and estimated completion time and so far, I am very pleased with their service. The repair was well within my budget as well.

Worst garage I've ever been to. No communication or customer service skills…read more Had a problem where I couldn't drive the car for more than 30 minutes without the entire power steering reservoir emptying completely, indicating some kind of major problem with the system. I had already taken my car to Canadian Tire, and they told me I needed to have about $1000 of maintenance done so I decided to think on it. My car is an older Honda and I was skeptical of putting any money into it at this point. Take my car to Hill San on Thursday. They replace a single line on the power steering system and give it back to me on Friday, telling me it's "fixed". I drive it home and by the time I get there the power steering reservoir was empty. I.e. they had fixed none of the major problem and I still needed to pull over and top it up every 30 minutes of driving. Stupidly I take it back to them on Wednesday of the following week, the earliest I could spare to not have a car for my job, WHICH IS ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON HAVING A VEHICLE. They finish on Wednesday afternoon and tell me it is " fixed" again, no charge for the service this time. Oh gee, how kind of them, comping $5 in parts for the hours of my time and gas they wasted driving back and forth to the garage. (I live in Toronto, only came here on recommendation from my parents). I had my father pick the car up the second time and test drive it for 5 minutes to see if it was still leaking because I didn't trust them. Lo and behold, after 5 minutes of driving it is evident just by looking under the hood that once again, the leaking still hasn't been fixed. Why hasn't they tested it themselves before giving it back to me......? So once again, they have my car. Thursday morning they tell me it'll be $1000 to replace the entire power steering system. Wow. So what the idiot at Canadian Tire figured out in 5 minutes it took you almost a week. At this point my entire work week has been delayed and I'm going to have to work the weekend, all because no car. I agree to do it because I have no other choice. They tell me it'll be done at noon on Friday. I call them at 11:30. They say they are "halfway done" and it'll be finished by 2:30. I get a ride to Newmarket from the city for 2:30. I call them at 2:30 and they tell me oh sorry, they sent us the wrong part, it may not even be done today. They also said they knew at 10:30am that they had received the wrong part. And they neglected to tell me this when I called at 11:30, before I'd come up! Now it's 5pm and my car won't be done until some time Monday. I now have to make expensive arrangements to get my work done this weekend without a car. And to get to work on Monday. I have never had such a terrible experience with an auto garage. I will never be taking my car here again, nor could I ever recommend their service to anyone else in good conscience. Did I mention in this review that they had never called me once throughout this entire ordeal to let me know about the status of the work? They have still never once picked up the phone and called me. Update: It's Monday, and somehow a story I thought couldn't get worse did. So 10am I get a text saying the car is done, power steering system is in. My father picks it up and takes it for a test drive. It is v*I*b*r*a*t*i*n*g worse than rumble strips. They had broken the motor mounts during the installation of the power steering and just decided not to say anything. There is absolutely no way they didn't notice. My father brings it back and asks them to fix it. This is now the fourth time we have returned the car because of their incompetence. They fix one mount out of four, making the problem ~10% better. Now I have to take the car elsewhere to spend another ~$100 to have them replaced. And they unplugged the battery at some point, resetting the radio and I cant find the code to reset it. :/

Anyway, my girlfriend's had some pretty bad experience car-wise over the years, often because she knows practically nothing about them--and people have taken advantage of that. So you could imagine her relief at finally lucking upon an honest group. She'd heard of Jason and Kerri-Lynn's son Nigel through a friend of a friend (both being from the New Tec area). When she first bought her old Nissan, he certified it, and when she experienced problems with it later, he even met her where she was to check it out and offer a recommendation. He told her that it could be one of two things, the first being fairly cheap, and the second potentially costing more than the worth of the car, and offered to take it in just to make sure (promising only to fix it if it was cheap and in her best interest). Since she absolutely needed a car, as she was then working two jobs to pay for school, he even lent her his own while hers was in getting fixed. He did the cam sensors, and tuned-up the brakes, updating her and getting the ok along the way. He even fixed a couple of blinkers for free. What I'm trying to say is from what she's told me, Hill-San went pretty above and beyond for her in terms of customer service. In an industry we're both generally pretty wary of to begin with, having not only someone you can trust, but with a personal touch, means we'll definitely be coming back.
