When I paid (in full upfront) the owner, Mr. Camacho, offered to reimburse me $100 of the $197 PayPal service fee. He told me he was unable to discount it on the transaction but would reimburse me in cash when the job was complete. He also indicated that he would do the cap & trim on the neighbor side of the fence (18ft) at no charge in exchange for reviews on 5 websites that he would give me after the work was completed in hopes that they would earn a 5 rating. After the work was completed, he denied it and said he "does this every day and has never said that and will just reply that way to the review". Expertise - 1.0 Once the work was complete, I asked a few questions to determine what to expect (Does cedar expand or shrink? Is there a period in which I should consider a gate adjustment? Is a sealant/weatherproofing recommended for cedar and if so what period?) Mr. Camacho replied, "I don't know, I don't know wood. I just build fences." Quality workmanship - 3.0 The final product looks good however; this did not come w/out challenges. There were several boards splintered and with cracks. Mr. Camacho disagreed with me on some of the pickets I wanted to exchange even saying to me as I explained my concerns "Are you finished, can I talk now". Eventually we marked the pickets needing replacement together (approximately two panels). Both Mr. Camacho and one of his crew were extremely rude to me after this took place. Productive and efficient - 2.0 Day 1 the crew worked 11:15 - 2:20 removing old fence and cement new posts; Day 2 the crew worked 10:30 - 5:30. Although they finished the work in a timely manner, I do not think it was appropriate that they removed items from my neighbors curb (bulky item pick up) and brought them to my yard so they could take with them. I requested a quote and was told that it was a $50+tax charge for someone to come out and if we use them, then it would be credited to the invoice. Said they would have someone at the house within 24 hrs. Once I paid, they said someone couldn't be out for at least 2 days. I decided to cancel as that is not what we had previously talked about and hard to do business with someone that isn't truthful from the start. When they refunded me, I was the total minus the taxes. I get nothing but still get charged $5 bucks. Unexceptable to first lie about availability, then refund me for less money than I paid. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

Yesterday morning our yard was surrounded an old chain link fence and today we have a brand new wood privacy fence! We couldn't believe how quickly the guys at South Texas Fence Co put up our fence. Our side Fence blew down after a rainstorm and we needed it fixed quick to assure our dog wouldn't take advantage of the breach and that no other critters would get into the back yard. I texted pictures of the damage and Anthony sent me a very reasonable quote quickly. His quote included removal of the old fence and the building of the new one. I received two other quotes that day that were much more expensive. Once I decided to go with Anthony, I scheduled the job for a few days later and he sent an invoice through PayPal. UPDATE: We discovered after the fence installation that the gate mechanism was not aligned properly. It took them nearly 3 weeks to come out to attempt repair.  After several failed attempts at repairing this, I had to tell them how to do it.  The following week I noticed that one of the Boards they used on a front facing fence was defective. It had several holes in it. We informed Anthony of this pro, but his response was "we used a new board."  I told Anthony it doesn't matter if the board was new, it was defective. We texted Anthony several times over the following month and he never came out to fix that one board so I had to replace it myself.  If you use this company inspect their work carefully before you let them leave and get any defects fixed before you pay them! I called them on Wed. 5/23 and left a message to please call as I would like to get a fence estimate. No return call, so I called again on Friday May 25th. South Texas Fence Co. is not licensed by the city of San Antonio. Further, owner Jesus or Anthony Camacho ( it appears he goes by two different names), has No liability insurance. In the process of tearing down a neighbors fence, his crew damaged my electrical box. As they had no permission to be on my property, I immediately called this to crew's attention. As soon as South Texas Fence Company owner, Mr. Camacho arrived, his crew, my husband, and I showed Mr. Camacho damage. He said he had no insurance and would not repair damage to electrical box. Please do not hire this company! Thank goodness, none of his crew was electrocuted when they used their saw and cut into my electrical box exposing all electrical wires. Remember!! South Texas Fence has No liability insurance! I see he was reported to BBB in the last year as having no liability insurance at that time either! If you hire him and someone is electrocuted or injured on your property, or your neighbor's property.. guess who is held liable and gets sued! Response: Mr. Camacho, In response to your reply, the nicest thing I can say is, Sir, you are a liar! Yesterday, while we were discussing damage and in front of your customer and my husband, you said you had no liability insurance and you would not repair damage You never offered to repair damage. In fact, you initially denied your crew having done the damage. If you, Anthony Camacho, or South Texas Fence are licensed with city of San Antonio, please publicly furnish your license number. As of this date, 30 January 2020, your license is not displayed on your website nor does the City of San Antonio show you or your company to be licensed. City of San Antonio also informed me you would have to have insurance prior to being licensed by them. Again, yesterday, you told my husband and myself you are not licensed by city nor do you have liability insurance. In addition, you also declared not only do you not have liability insurance, most fence companies don't have insurance either. Further you are in code violation with City of San Antonio, because as you are not licensed, you cannot pull any building permit which is required to build a fence in the City of San Antonio. If City of San Antonio Building Services Department has misinformed me, please publicly provide your up to date City of San Antonio license number with expiration date as well as your permit for referenced work performed. The crew showed up on time and completed on time (2 days). Their price is competitive. I asked the team leader, Tito, about the spikes for our iron gate. He said it's not on the order, but he called the office. He returned, but with the wrong size spikes. Anthony delivered and installed the correct size spikes. Three panels needed adjustment due to improper picket height. Many pickets were over 3 inches too high causing a mound or wave that's on our level terrain. Alex came out the next day and made the adjustments. He's easy to work with and his attention to detail ensured the pickets were within the 6ft threshold. Buyer beware, ask a lot of questions and do not run on faith, or use somebody else. Work seems good, nice solid fence was built on schedule, they did what they said they would do, but communication could have been a lot better, and sometimes what is NOT said matters.. We paid top dollar and everything up front...something I never do... to get what i was told with repeated assurances is 'the best of everything','won't need to worry about it for years'. I will not dispute that top materials were used and a quality job was done. My complaint is that, as somebody who doesn't know about fencing and cedar wood, no mention was made to me up front that we would also have to have the fence stained to protect it. My advice to the owner, and I hope he takes it, is let everybody know up front, before you do the install, what the recommendation and maintenance requirements are for the fence after it is installed, and that you are installing cedar wood that does not include any stain or sealant.. Not everybody is savvy about these matters and you might end up with some irritated customers like me if you don't communicate clearly and openly with customers up front about maintenance recommendations and requirements! I thought this fence was 'plug-and-play', now I know I need to spend more money. read more

I don't write reviews unless is really worth it. I just moved to SA from California and didnt know where to get a good fence company. I looked on google reviews and picked the south texas fence. Antony the owner has a permit with the city, and did more work than I paid him for :) he cleaned all the little trees that were stuck on the old chain link fence, trash that my neighbors left by the old fence and left my backyard spotless! The fence: I couldn't be happier, he supervises his workers and he is always available to explain to his customers why and what he's doing. The fence was done in 2 days and he had a promotion he painted sealed our fence for free. I had 3 quotes from around town and he is definitely the most affordable without comprising materials and quality of work. Before he leaves for the day he tells you to inspect the boards , nails...There were 2 small cracked boards that I didn't noticed, he pointed to me and said to his workers to change it.
