I can relate 2 events that disappointed me. When I visit an optometrist, I do not expect my appointment to entail a sales pitch about the optical center or to hear that the glasses I had were sub-standard (because they were not purchased on site). On another occasion, after discussion with the desk personnel I asked to book an appointment 2 years from my last appointment. As it turns out, the date of the appointment I attended was earlier than my 2 years and I was required to pay for the whole appointment as my provider would not cover the insurance portion as it was not a full 2 years. I related the story to the clinic for which they would not take responsibility or apologize. This clinic won't see me return.

If you want to have a very pleasant and knowledgeable experience with people that take their profession seriously; and a company that has a great name recognition in the industry AND the city of Winnipeg... then you have to select Westwood Optical. There are other great options as well in the city... however, one of the "stand-outs" for me personally is that when I experienced some vision issues... I was very concerned and I needed to see a optometrist asap... Being that I was in the area for work purposes... I asked if there was a emergency opening for me... the staff were very understanding and accommodating...I was seen within 10 minutes.. THIS was WITH an appointment, I asked if I got the time wrong and was taken care of immediately. Eyewear promised in 7-10 days, it took about 7, thumbs up there. I called when they arrived and was told I can't get in to pick them up for another week. Last time I will ever shop there! It's too bad because the optometrist was awesome.

I had perfect eyesight but didn't know my alphabet and my speaking skills and comprehension wasn't good at that age. I finished the eye exam with the optometrist concludng that the 5-year old needed priscription glasses. I had no idea what glasses were or what they were meant to do at the time, but I was told to keep them on all the time so I did. As I grew, my eyes developed with the glasses, they grew to depend on them and even made my eye vision progressively detoriate with each year. I had to then get stronger and stronger glasses. Stuck wearing priscription glasses now, my biggest regret is not knowing what wearing glasses does when you dont need them. The worse part is knowing how much money your parents have spent on glasses for you over a lifetime... they're unbelievably expensive.
