What we needed was a hotel that was convenient to the harbor, had restaurants and shopping within and easy walking distance, had comfortable beds and quiet rooms, offered a nice breakfast options, felt safe and was a reasonable price for this short and highly functional stopover. This hotel met every one of those needs. Exactly what you want before setting off on a voyage. Would I stay there for any other reason - no. Would I stay there again if leaving on another cruise out of Southampton - most definitely.

Our room overlooked the harbor, we could see the Queen Mary 2, and it was quiet. There were binoculars in the room that were fun to use! We were on the 5th floor so during the day and evening we could hear the chairs and furniture scraping the floor in the rooftop bar (on the 6th floor). Not terrible, but next time I'd prefer not to be on the fifth floor. The bed was comfortable but oddly the comforter barely fit the bed - we had to sleep in the center of the bed because the comforter was not wide enough to reach beyond the edge of the bed when we weren't in it. There cannot be an outlet in the bathroom by law, so using the hair dryer was also a challenge. There is a big full length mirror near the bathroom, but no outlet nearby and the hairdryer cord was not long enough. Fortunately there was a nice makeup mirror in the bathroom I was able to move and could prop up on the tissue box on the desk to see my hair while I dried it. Keeping the makeup mirror on the desk (where there is natural light) is a good idea because the lighting in the bathroom is terrible. Loved the chairs and colors in the room. Plenty of closet space and drawers. There is also a snack closet - look for the price list! We ate at the rooftop bar twice. When we arrived in the afternoon we had drinks and a pizza - both great! Jon was wonderful & helpful! We came back for breakfast the next morning. The buffet was perfect for me - the overnight oats were delicious as was the yogurt (very tangy) and fresh fruit. Hubby had some buffet items and eggs Benedict which he enjoyed. We would definitely stay here and dine here again!

It took us under 15 minutes. We enjoyed the hotel. Very upbeat. We noticed a photo booth on the mezzanine and table tennis. We had a choice of 500 points or food credit $10 per person. I took the food credit as we were going to eat before leaving for the terminal the next morning. Spent about another $12 USD out of pocket. Standard breakfast food options. We also had hotel bar food for dinner the day we checked in after the two fish and chip places suggested by the hotel didn't work out. Ordered: * hubby had chicken wings * I had Mac n cheese balls * BIL had chicken curry * sis had egg rolls We each were given a free cocktail voucher. It was like a fruit punch. Also got local beer. The place is exquisite. The only fault it would have as a wedding venue would be the arguments about which spot is the prettiest to take the pictures. And then there's the restaurant, headed by chefs, Angela Hartnett, and Lukas holder. We were familiar with Angela from her television Chef career. The experience did not disappoint. The pasta courses were among the best we've ever had with sixty month aged Parmesan on creamier risotto, beautiful tagliatelle with lamb and Morels on gnocchi. The complementary Arancini came in three flavors and we each each other a favorite. The duck was delicious and the braised lamb was done beautifully. We shared the Pavlova with strawberries and whipped cream, and it was a nice light and to a really exquisite meal. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner or if you really want to indulge a spa weekend rooms treatments, food, and all. It was a beautiful soft cheese with fresh capers and other vegetables with pesto drizzled over it. It was beautifully presented and tasted light and delicious. It was one of those starters that gets you excited for the next course. For my main I had rare Beef. With every roast you have roasted vegetables- the beets were perfection- and Yorkshire pudding. I loved mine and I could not stop scooping veggies onto my plate. To top it off I had the chocolate mouse which was rich and smooth. Our room was clean, and had comfortable, if slightly springy, beds. The shower was excellent and there was always plenty of hot water. There's a restaurant and function room in the newer extension and a comfortable bar located in the original house. There's a small Spa suite, which we didn't use. But we had dinner as part of a group which was perfectly good; breakfast was a buffet, with a reasonable selection of cereals, strong coffee, and (for a buffet) a good quality cooked breakfast (excellent mushrooms and sunny-side fried eggs). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, for the price, I'd happily stay here again. The only downsides were that the car park is small, and filled up quickly (a few of our party had to park off-site a short distance away); and although the WiFi speed was reasonable (35 Mbps), the signal kept dropping in and out in our room.

Our server, Luke, was ridiculously polite to the point where it almost made me feel awkward -- I wanted to tell him "lighten up, we're cool!" Decor is classy and attractive. They have a two-or three-course lunch special (I can't remember exactly what the price is, but it's a great deal). I had the calamari appetizer (delicious!) and the wild mushroom & tomato risotto for my entree....that shit was so good I could just stick it right in my butt. For the price, it's well worth it. So delicious!!
