First of all, the inside of this restaurant is super cute and cozy! The people working were very friendly and courteous. The food was good. The menu is somewhat limited, but there is something for everyone. Kid friendly, too!

Our room had part of the original city wall in it

We took an October cruise from Southampton, and had scoured many of the hotel/lodging yelp reviews, as we were able to add a couple of days on the front end. The Pig in the Wall had great reviews, and now we are happy to add ours to those comments! This venue had the B&B feel, but with all of the conveniences of a luxury hotel. The room and bath were very comfortable (excellent shower and water pressure). The food was reasonable to purchase, and definitely all home made! A wonderful coffee and bar selection, too.The staff was efficient and helpful with any transportation needed, as well as directions. We had an easy walk to restaurants, shopping & to the train station. From Southampton, it is easy to take a train, or tour, to many other nearby great cities. We would love to come back to this wonderful place in the future! Thank you!

The Pig in the Wall is quite wonderful. We have experienced the joy that is The Pig nr Bath, so when we were looking for a place to do for my Husband's mid-week birthday, we thought that this would be perfect. We found an excellent deal online, through The Pig's website. I'm pretty sure it was a one night stay with supper and breakfast for something like £180. Absolute bargain. It was tricky to find the parking but we managed (we had to call the hotel whilst parked outside) be we found it. I don't think we were charged for the parking and its gated, so it's nice and secure. The building is stunning, as you would expect from a hotel in The Pig group! The staff were welcoming and perfectly polite. We were shown to our room and we had the usual room tour. There was a roll-top bath in the room and a beautiful shower in the bathroom. Perfect. There was also a Nespresso machine with normal and decaf pods as well as a larder with items that you could buy. We were informed that there was also a half-size bottle of champagne in the fridge that we could enjoy in our room or take to dinner, which was a lovely surprise. As previously mentioned, our package included supper so we booked that for the evening. When we arrived we tucked into some salami and pork crackling, both of which were delicious. The apple sauce was made fresh once we had ordered, and it was beautiful (and warm!). Our supper was very substantial; we had soup and tomato toast for starters, and we both had the sausage roll with garlic cream potatoes for our main course, and desert was stuck toffee pudding and a brownie. Everything was superb. The cocktails were lovely and we took out champagne to brunch and the staff kindly added some syrups to our glasses for us to make champagne cocktails. The sausage rolls were so nice that we took two home to have for dinner the next day (prices at about £13 for two, but tasty). The room was lovely. The bed was extremely comfy and the room was quiet. We borrowed a DVD from reception but we didn't watch it in the end because our TV was dodgy and had a weird yellow tint that we couldn't fix. But that's not really a problem. Breakfast was minimal but lovely. We had some bread and honey, which was all local and tasty. All self serve in a buffet-style. There are no cooked options (but there are boil-your-own eggs). We really did have a lovely time and we are thankful to the staff for making us feel at home. It really did feel like we were family guests rather than in a stiff hotel & that was really nice. Oh and we were allowed a few extra hours the next day for a late checkout, which was fab as it was my Husband's birthday and a lay-in is always a nice treat. Other things to mention: We had robes (but no slippers) The toiletries were lovely (and plentiful) There's a hidden switch on the Nespresso that isn't easy to find, but you'll get there (I heard another guest struggling with this too, so it wasn't just us) There's a hairdryer There are books and magazines in the room

Well - this is a rare and very special place. First and foremost you cannot find a nicer, happier group of people working there, they were lovely. I highly recommend you try this place either to eat, sit and have a drink or stay in one of their 12 well appointed rooms. The food was excellent and as a vegan they were super accommodating. It's a must try when staying in Southampton!

Pork sausages and mush vegetables. So so.

Came here for dinner. Not too many tables to sit and eat. Menu fairly limited. Best thing I ate were some porkrines. Apple sauce tasted homemade and was also very good. The apple pie drink was tasty. The dry salami and sausages were just okay. Nice cozy atmosphere.

Interior of The Pig In The Wall. Inviting, cozy comfortable.

The perfect place in Southampton for a light snack and a good glass of wine beside the fire. Parking available.

The hotel suggested we take a cab but we managed to pull our 24 inch luggage from the hotel. We cut through the Holiday Inn parking lot. I wouldn't recommend you walking unless you're very mobile. It took us under 15 minutes. We enjoyed the hotel. Very upbeat. We noticed a photo booth on the mezzanine and table tennis. We had a choice of 500 points or food credit $10 per person. I took the food credit as we were going to eat before leaving for the terminal the next morning. Spent about another $12 USD out of pocket. Standard breakfast food options. We also had hotel bar food for dinner the day we checked in after the two fish and chip places suggested by the hotel didn't work out. Ordered: * hubby had chicken wings * I had Mac n cheese balls * BIL had chicken curry * sis had egg rolls We each were given a free cocktail voucher. It was like a fruit punch. Also got local beer. There's a shopping center across the street. It was a Sunday so stores closed early.

The bar on the ground floor is pretty cool and I enjoyed all the decor. We were given a complementary welcome drink, which was greatly appreciated. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Unfortunately, I only had about 90 minutes of sleep due to going to bed late and needing to get up early to catch a bus back to Heathrow. The bed and pillows were lovely and there was nice lighting, even a motion sensitive light under the bed so you didn't trip over things in the dark. I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again. It was nicer than I anticipated and felt "cool" and "trendy." Drink were a bit pricy but there are countless options within a short walk.

The inn feels like an old ocean liner from the early 1900s without the opulence found later. Some of the rooms are named after former ocean liners, and thus named the White Star now for England's most famous line, owners of the Titanic and many others, now called Cunard. We had a delightful dinner. It has a pub atmosphere but a bit more upscale as a restaurant or tavern. To celebrate we got a bottle of the sparkling wine from Kent. It was quite good and went well with the meal I ordered a pheasant croquette on a bed of peas and Brussels sprouts. It was excellent My main was the chicken dish which was very well prepared and delicious. The sauce was good and the preparation better than expected for this type of establishment. The portions are substantial and I was quite full and unable to have a dessert. The waitstaff are cordial and really hustle when the crowd appears. A bit on the pricier end, especially with the wine selection, but the quality is good.

A completely adequate and convenient place to stay prior to a cruise in Southampton!…read more We stayed 5 nights at the Premier Inn prior to a cruise out of Southampton. I give it 4 solid stars. The hotel, location and amenities are great, it's the service where it breaks down slightly. Read on for the PROs and CONS and why we didn't give it that extra star... PROs: Clean, modern, has everything you need in your room like iron, hair dryer, several USB outlets, toiletries in pump containers, nice towels, coffee, tea, 2 (delicious) chocolates daily. Very conveniently located. We walked to the cruise terminal with our luggage. We walked to the train station, the car rental, the ferry terminal, the large mall next door, high street shops, restaurants, IKEA, tourist spots. (We're in our early 50s and relatively in shape). We paid extra to be on the 5th floor and it was very quiet. We paid extra to have the daily hot and cold breakfast which was great and convenient. It included cereals, Greek yogurt, fruit, pastries, toast, full English, soy milk, juice, tea and a fancy coffee machine where you could get a self-serve latte or cappuccino, etc. The spacious breakfast area is just off the lobby. Two lifts available. In the lobby they have digital boards listing all the departing cruises, which is convenient. Extra instant coffee and teabags available in the lobby. Bar with drink specials and happy hour off the lobby. CONs: After calling the hotel probably 10 times from the USA to ask questions about parking before our trip, someone FINALLY picked up. They told me we could pull in the layby (pullout) outside the hotel to drop off luggage and pay to park in the mall next door. They were very rushed and obviously wanted to get off the phone. I almost changed our reservation based on this lack of service. If you want maid service, you have to track down a staff member EACH DAY and say "I'd like maid service today". When you're a busy tourist, you don't want to spend time doing this. Just freaking give me automatic daily maid service! Similarly, if you pay for breakfast, you have to hunt down a staff member who hopefully speaks good enough English and tell them you want to book a breakfast time slot for the next morning. I tried asking them if we could simply book the same time slot for our entire 5-day stay, but that didn't seem to be possible. OK, then we will try and track someone down EVERY DAY and tell them we want to book breakfast at 7am! There are two digital self check-in kiosks in the lobby, but they didn't work for us, so we ended up checking in with a real human being who was stood behind a podium in the lobby, who was obviously there as this probably happens a lot...! She was very helpful. Paid parking is in the mall next door. After our drive from Heathrow to Southampton and one night in the parking garage, we decided to return our rental car early and walk or use trains as it was less hassle navigating the roads and parking. Not much space to drop luggage off, only a small, hard-to-find layby (pullout) outside the hotel. We parked in the parking garage at the mall and walked our luggage over, which was probably a 5 minute walk. Having to pay extra to be on the 5th floor and paying for breakfast. NOTE: If you're coming from Heathrow, you may consider taking a National Express Bus. The station is a 7 min walk from this hotel. On retrospect, we wish we'd done this instead of navigating the roads in a rental car and having major hassles from the rental company. (Another review!) Happy cruising! Helpful?

They were in flux getting ready for re launch so no hot breakfasts and no bar so at breakfast we got free tea, coffee pastries (chocolates & plain croissants) and fruit (apples & bananas). The croissants and chocolate croissants were really good but no butter or confiture. But the real reason we usually go elsewhere is they have no proper espresso machines. It's probably not the target market for the chain but again there's no place for powdered coffee in hospitality in 21st century UK. Happy to pay for great coffee. The coffee at breakfast is push a button machine but on our morning it had broken so no coffee and staff 'don't know what's wrong'. I went across to M&S in the shopping centre for great coffee. A 15 minute round trip. What annoyed most was literally ziltch WiFi. It dropped instantly no matter how many times we tried. It's not acceptable in this age. We rarely stay in these inns and the last time was Newbury (I think but it was an inn near Bath) and the WiFi was grim there too. It was the premium room that time and still useless so there may be a bigger problem.

Accessible entrance and lifts are in the lobby. Stairs were also easy to find and use. It is clean, bright, and has a relaxed ocean vibe. Our room overlooked the harbor, we could see the Queen Mary 2, and it was quiet. There were binoculars in the room that were fun to use! We were on the 5th floor so during the day and evening we could hear the chairs and furniture scraping the floor in the rooftop bar (on the 6th floor). Not terrible, but next time I'd prefer not to be on the fifth floor. The bed was comfortable but oddly the comforter barely fit the bed - we had to sleep in the center of the bed because the comforter was not wide enough to reach beyond the edge of the bed when we weren't in it. There cannot be an outlet in the bathroom by law, so using the hair dryer was also a challenge. There is a big full length mirror near the bathroom, but no outlet nearby and the hairdryer cord was not long enough. Fortunately there was a nice makeup mirror in the bathroom I was able to move and could prop up on the tissue box on the desk to see my hair while I dried it. Keeping the makeup mirror on the desk (where there is natural light) is a good idea because the lighting in the bathroom is terrible. Loved the chairs and colors in the room. Plenty of closet space and drawers. There is also a snack closet - look for the price list! We ate at the rooftop bar twice. When we arrived in the afternoon we had drinks and a pizza - both great! Jon was wonderful & helpful! We came back for breakfast the next morning. The buffet was perfect for me - the overnight oats were delicious as was the yogurt (very tangy) and fresh fruit. Hubby had some buffet items and eggs Benedict which he enjoyed. We would definitely stay here and dine here again!
