If I could give James ten stars, it wouldn't be enough! In a world of uncertainty, it is difficult to trust anyone these days, but when I found Southeast Bully Kennels online I was rewarded with an answered call, an extended and very personable conversation with James, the owner, and there was zero pressure to buy but 100% interest in talking dogs. He's shockingly knowledgeable about the American Bully, he's clear on the class differences, and he's got a LIFETIME of breeding experience that extends far beyond his Kennel, which is coming into it's 18th year! His expertise, his personality, and his portfolio spoke the volumes I needed to choose a puppy from him, specifically! I looked online for Pockets for three months before I reached out to him. The other breeders I found either didn't answer or return my calls or emails, or their sites were terribly incomplete, mixing several classes of American Bullys and not being able to describe exactly what they were selling. The picture portfolios I saw were, in my opinion, sketchy at best. There were a handful of good looking dogs, some great even, but most were not recognizable as Pocket class, and Google didn't seem to understand the difference either. I wanted to buy a Pocket that actually matured into a Pocket! And that is where James' product backs up his knowledge. His portfolio includes over 1,200 pictures, of AMAZING looking Pockets, Micros, and even a few Nano's, and most importantly he knew the difference AND could tell me what separates the classes. I was shown current pictures, of current puppies, by TEXT, instead of email, AND on his personal phone rather than thru a service or some other form of middle man (Middle Men are the primary reason I did NOT go thru an adoption or rescue agency). James was upfront about who was available, who their parents were including pictures, how much they were and he never stuttered or changed his story. YOUR puppy is your puppy, no bait and switch or false advertising. I was so confident in my choice of Kennel after talking to James a few times, that I made a deposit before I even picked a puppy out! The Universe spoke, because the next litter he had was EXACTLY the look(pocket)/pattern(mantle, tan point, merle)/color(blue) I was interested in, and within a week, I had picked my girl from a litter of 4 day old pups and sent him the remainder of her payment (which was more realistic than I imagined was possible!!). He sent me weekly videos every Sunday, the only one missed was week 7 when the puppies got ears and tails done. He always responded to my messages, even if delayed, and he actually talked to me as a person, not just a buyer. When the time came, I drove 1000 miles to pick up my puppy, rather than having her delivered and while he said I was the 1st person to choose that route (delivery is definitely the more realistic option, and he handles all of that for you), James gladly met with me in person and handed Kizmet to me, Face to Face. She was clean, well fed, even tempered, amazingly well adjusted, and GORGEOUS!! James took as much time as I needed to get any remaining questions answered, he provided the food she was currently on, he went over the registration application and made sure I knew what was what before we parted ways, reassuring me this is just the beginning! He's happy to receive updates on his productions, for the life of the dog, and he encouraged me to reach out if there are any questions, issues or updates. I've had Kizmet home for 4 days now but it feels like she's been mine the entire 10 weeks, and she's unbelievable! The process James, his wife and his son have worked out for raising his puppies, is nothing shy of incredible. He raises them with the mother until weaning, keeps the litter together thru the transition to soft food then kibble, and he keeps them in a controlled environment so they're comfortable being wherever they go, but they're exposed to handling on the regular (it's very evident in the puppy updates), and they're dewormed/vaccinated for parvo before they ship out to ensure the buyer has the chance to pick up vet care where he leaves off, with little risk of exposure in the interim. The potty training they engage the pups in is priceless, and really gives the buyer an enormous head start. Kizmet has had only 2 accidents in the 4 days she's been home and that was on the first day, when we introduced her to our adult male, they simply played too hard and I wasn't looking! Not only do I recommend Southeast Bully Kennels for their product, I recommend them for their prices, their personality, and their commitment to making their Kennel a great place with an even better, and well earned, reputation.
