I will just make it simple and sweet and list all of the things that were incorrect from start to finish an incomplete finish First and foremost, he posted our home without our consent. You will see that listed on his Facebook page " if you zoom in closely, you can see the poor craftsmanship to ensure that everything that I've listed is the truth" Upon hiring Melvin to complete the job we discussed the job that we desired to be completed and he agreed that it was something that he could complete. We agreed to move forward after receiving the quote. We paid him half of the cost of the project upon receiving the invoice and he stated the earliest he start the job was the coming Saturday May 25, 2024 Upon starting the job he started at the window that was created into a door. Window door convert: The door does not lock or latch properly you will see in the video below, there is about a half of an inch of gab where the door does not lock and latch properly He sawed through the power line because he did not properly deconstruct the wall He destroyed the brickwork because he did not have the proper tools to cut the brick properly He put the brick molding on the inside of the door after refuting and telling me that that's how it was from the manufacture He built the stairs out of non-pressure-treated wood and old wood that he decided to build the treads with Existing door: There is about a 1 inch or a half a inch gap from the lock to the latch. The door is not secured. We can push right through it in the entire door will come out. In my personal opinion, he is not trustworthy. He's very dishonest and his craftsmanship is extremely poor. So I am writing this review to warn other homeowners to not allow someone into your home without doing your property due diligence and making sure that they can complete with proof of credentials the job that they have signed up for If you "Google" Unifirm, you will see all of the "1 Star ratings from google, yelp and possibly Angie's list" to which one of those ratings is of the door that he completed and the bad craftsmanship shows it looks the exact same as a door that he completed in our home.

One thing I can't stand is someone making excuses, especially from someone claiming to have a…read morereputable business. Good reliable help can be so hard to find at times so it is so important to be a person of your word and have tight communication. Melvin was supposed come by my house to take a look at some work that I wanted done. 20 minutes after the appointed time for him to show up and after calls and texts, it was considered a no show. After leaving a review for him on Thumbtack for not showing up, he quickly responds afterwards but makes excuses of why he didn't respond to the texts or calls. Interesting how he saw the review to respond but did not respond to the calls or texts. He throws family into the mix as if I didn't have one and makes it seem like it was okay to be so lackadaisical about not communicating because he had to watch his own kids at the time of the appointment. He further makes a comment that he is a business first individual. How can that be, sir? Instead of respecting the time of the customer and sticking with acknowledging the error on his part, he just made it seem like his situation was not understood and kept going on about the bad review for the no-show. According to these other bad reviews, I would say this is the norm for him. I do not recommend this business.

While running the new line for the plugs, he purposely touched two wires and killed 4 fuses in my electrical panel along with my bathroom fan, bedroom light, porch light and electrical socket. Therefore, half of my house is dead. He said that he would have to run all new wiring as well as replace the fuses which would be an additional 450.00 and asked for a 600.00 deposit in which I sent while he was standing there. This happened on January 8, 2024. As of today, January 19, 2024, the problem still hasn't been resolved. He would say he's coming and don't show. He had to go to court, loss his brother, the weather, investor's meeting, just to name a few excuses that were given. There was little to no communication and when he did show he rushed through everything leaving things in worst condition that it was. I asked for a FULL refund and he responded with, "Do what you gotta do!" He refuses to give me my deposit back and is very unprofessional. I started this project working on my childhood home after the death of my mother. And to have someone cause more damage and cause more emotional harm is to me at this point in my life down right evil and wicked. I wouldn't hire him again if he was the last handyman on earth.
