My unit was purchased from southern experts who went out of business. The contractor was given to southern air. They serviced my unit in April 24th and did not have the filter to my unit. They were ordering filter. I call in May and was told they no longer service the unit. They stopped on the 27th of May. Well they owe me a filter and continue to say they are not responsible. So why did they charge advantage the insurer of the units they put a filter in my unit? I would not refer anyone to them. And to think, I was about to get a 3400 air duct cleaning from them. read more

Worst company in the industry. Had to take off 5 days of work to get a leak looked at. Leak didn't get found or fixed, they broke my electric gate and after calling frustrated they said they weren't going to service me and sent me an invoice. Says on the side of the truck you won't get an invoice if it's not fixed right. Company of pansies. You'll get more value by using another company I promise you. read more

We have used Southern air twice. The first time they fixed a broken duct in our AC. We paid for a monthly subscription that is supposed to include additional services besides AC. Last week, we contacted them to help us repair or replace a broken dishwasher. The first time they didn't show and they called us hours after our appointment to tell us they weren't coming. I got no response to the email I sent, then they called and said they were going to show the following day. They did not show nor did we receive a call or email saying why. We followed up with a different provider as a result. Either they are severely short staffed, or they really don't care about our business. Be leery. read more

7 techs and $1600.00 later and my air is not working. I called for the yearly unit servicing. I was told by Chris Love my unit was in dire need of part replacement. I trusted him and the 1300.00 estimate. A few days later, jimmy comes to do the repair. He is flustered with his trainee and just wants out of there. It's 5pm on a Friday. He doesn't come in the house to check if anything works before leaving. Ring camera footage will show him having me sign everything in the driveway and that he was at my house for roughly 40 minutes. He leaves and 1 hour later my air goes out after power cycling. Now mind you, it was working fine before these "much needed parts!" Richard Roland comes out after hours. Tells me jimmy left the door off the unit. He said he forced it back on and taped it there. I go out of town for work. Come home, turn air on. Power starts surging. Immediately goes out. They send another tech, Kyle. He replaces a fuse. Tells me I need another part. Then it goes out again while he is here. They send Joe, the lead tech. He tells me the parts they replaced are now overloading the motors. Now those need to be replaced. He continues to talk over me when I ask questions. I finally call my dad and ask him to cover over. THEN everyone wants to talk and explain things in laymen terms. Tells me I need 319.00 part/repair and he will send me a quote for new motors and options for a new system. Mine is 8 years old. Apparently this over the hill according to Southern Air. Monday - Wednesday I hear nothing. I call the office. Ask about the quotes. Rachel in the office forwards them to me. It's just 5 different options for a new unit. No motors. I call back. Ask for Joe to call me. Nada. I call back ask for a manager to call me. Nada. That night - air goes out again. Here we are. Holiday weekend. 90 degree temps. No air. Thank you southern air for being salesmen and not technicians. read more

Would recommend a checklist of all items to go over and have inspected, prior to work being initiated. I have been dealing with service calls and follow-up on items needing work that was supposedly good but after a year the "Opps moments" are not pleasant and only frustrating. I was advised items were pre-existing and Can not assist. What does that mean if a new system was installed? The pre-exiting system was replaced with a new system so you would thing to verify all items are in good condition rather than replacing items as they occurring. Office Personnel Customer Service needs improvement as mistakes happen and a year to 5 year installation should not have any issues. If anything you may want to ensure you get all service and maintenance in black and white as you work hard to have cool air and heat without thinking you got a Lemon of service and deal. read more

Unethical! Told my elderly parents that their 7-year-old unit (Trane) was unable to be fixed, the condenser coil needed to be replaced, and could not be cleaned. The coil alone would cost $5000, and it would not be compatible with a new unit when one is needed in 3-4 years. Advised that they should replace everything, quoted $14,000 for a mid-level unit for a 1300 sq ft home. My parents are not wealthy and it stressed them greatly. They thought they would have to use my father's funeral fund! Called Advanced AC and it cost $75 to clean the condenser coil. Problem solved. Completely unethical and cruel. read more

Update: after a week. I still never received a call. Some more specific issues aside from leaving a leaking gas line, and giving me an attitude about it, simple things like putting the screws back in my vent covers would have been nice. Putting the smoke alarm back up they knocked down would have been nice. Putting the fence around my a/c unit that they tossed to the side would have been nice. Not putting the condensation line directly over my patio door would have been nice. And of course, not leaving a leaking gas line would have been nice as well. I strongly do not recommend Southern Heating and air. Like I said below, I had their membership service over a decade, and put a new chiller, and furnace in with them 2 years ago. Their motto, "fixed right or it's free" is a bold face lie. I never asked for my money back, but they did a pretty lousy job. Jimmy did the job right and I would give him specifically 5 stars, however, I have had numerous issues with Southern over the last 2 years. Not everything was the fault of Southern or their technicians, like a weird smelling A/C coils, however, what was in their control, like scheduling, and not rushing they failed at. Technicians were out on Wednesday to replace the smelly coils, and soldered in a copper line. They say that they didn't touch the gas line, but that night, the line that they were soldering less than 2 feet from was leaking and if not noticed, I wouldn't be writing this as I would be ashes. Jimmy came and fixed it, but there is no way it wasn't from the Technicians from Wednesday. We have been members of their program over a decade, had a full system replaced, but it looks like their better days are behind them. read more

Horrible experience!!!!!! I was in need of ac maintenance. My home warranty had assigned a company that said I needed a regular maintenance to my system which regular maintenance is not included under home warranty. I wholeheartedly understood and. Realized I need to get a company on my own and schedule twice a year for maintenance and pay out of my pocket. I called this joke of a company not once but twice and told them my story and they kept saying they do not accept home warranty. I understand that, I'm not trying to use or have anything to do with my home warranty. I want to schedule maintenance directly with you and have a check up yearly and pay the fee!!! They kept refusing my service and saying they don't take home warranty. Absolutely absurd!!!!!! With that type of stupidity I don't know how they have a high ranking. Luckily I called Moore Ac and they were nice and friendly and now have me on a yearly schedule of $169/ year with 10% discount off other services. Heating service was good when I used them. They replaced a few parts and got it working fine. The plumbing service was too high and they didn't complete the work around the shower/tub they put in. I had no idea that they would cut out the old one and put in a new one but leave a hole all the way around in my sheet rock. For the price they charged it should have all been done. Also the shower kit was too small and the shower head is mounted on the wall above the kit. Really looks strange. Will never use them again. read more

I had a very old system the company came a week later and installed a new system in 8 hrs. 4 months later I found a leak- I called ( btw it was August) They had someone out in 2 hrs. Found water puddle at the base of my water heater. Requested to have someone come give me an estimate on cost to replace. Next day at 5:55pm a repairman called to say he could be here in 20 minutes. I told him make it 35 minutes (6:30pm). By 7pm he still was not here...never called me back...would not answer when I called HIM. So I left to go do grocery shopping. Folks...punctuality is a key component of professionalism. So this has raised questions in my mind as to the professionalism of the employees working for this company. I had used them once before for routine A/C maintenance and was pleased enough with the service that they were the first ones I contacted regarding replacing the water heater. But given today's failure to show at the appointed time...I believe I will get someone else to do the job. read more

Our AC stopped working right after the hurricane and we were able to get someone to us the next day! He did a great job and fixed our issue quite quickly! (Luckily it was nothing really major). We also had decided to update our indoor AC unit and they worked with us really well with our schedules and was able to quickly get that replaced! Had a problem with water leaking through our ceiling. Our technician, James Spearman arrived within 15 minutes of our call. He was courteous, very professional and friendly. Assessed and corrected the problem. Advised us as to what the problem was in great detail, even providing pictures. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! Had an a/c issue (clogged drain pan) and they came out the next day. Unfortunately the service rep was a scam. He told me my compressor was bad and that I needed to buy a new unit. I got suspicious when he would not give me any model numbers, that I didn't need them and couldn't compare them. He told me it wasn't cooling (it was cooling just fine). He checked my drain pan and told me it was fine (it wasn't) He said he blew it out to be sure (he didn't). Two other a/c companies checked out the unit. It is fine and does not need replacing. They said the things he told me were jibberish. Sounds like he left the drain pan clogged so that I would be desperate to get a new unit. read more

Being the first week of August, I expected a few days wait before they could service my unit. However, Service Tech James Brown, arrived within an hour! He ran test on my R-22 unit and recommend a complete replacement with a more energy efficient upgraded. I just wanted my unit serviced. No problem. JB got right on it. Also, I had a ductwork issue. Very friendly and informative technician checked and fixed the issue. Informed me of a reasonable program they have and reduced my bill by a fair percentage. Great Service! James was our Technician, after calling to confirm the appointment, James showed up right on time. Right away, he notice the main problem, a mismatch between thermostat and the system. During the systems test, James found a Carbon Monoxide danger. We asked him to quote a replacement system, he gave us a range of choices there was no pressure to decide that moment. contacted southern air for trouble with ac unit. serviceman returned phone call quickly. made an appointment for 11:00 am and he arrived on time. technician james b. diagnosed problem with contactor and fixed within 30 min. charged 367.00. breakdown was 69.00 for diagnostic and 299.00 to replace contactor. there is a 50.00 off coupon on website. total out of pocket was 317.00. technician was professional and offered deals for service plans. will most likely use them again. read more
