A truly simple job that he said would take 5 days. Two months later we have had to find another contractor to finish the work. Casey is a nice man, but a nice man does not make a GOOD WORKER. PROS: 1) On time 2) His worker Octavio is fantastic! 3) Creative CONS: 1) Talks smack about his previous clients (likely us now). 2) Pays little attention to detail. 3) Often has to redo sloppy, unlevel, uneven, and poor work (plastering, painting, etc). 4) Claims to be a great painter but isn't - we have since had to rehire someone to redo his work. 5) Doesn't fully do his due diligence, research, and inspect work / the extent of the job prior so he finds himself in over his head and unprepared. 5) Doesn't finish work in the proposed time-frame AND took smaller jobs in between our job (ouch!). 6) Isn't good at communicating or updating clients with potential issues. OVERALL: If you need a door installed, fence built, or a deck sanded and water proofed - he's your guy. BUT, for anything larger - anything that needs attention to detail, structural soundness, truly skilled labor, requires a time-line and organization - opt for a different handyman / contractor.

James sat down with us, and spent the most time out of the contractors we met with to really understand our goals and objectives, as well as making professional suggestions based on his experience. Needless to say, we hired James at Top Family Construction because of his professionalism, and references of clients we spoke to :) We would recommend working with James!! I know reviews only do so much, but trust me - you will be happy at the end of the work. During the same time that I was working on my new home, I knew of several other friends who were also renovating or remodeling their homes. I can say without hesitation that no one had the experience that I did. My home when I first purchased it and before remodeling started was in dire need of some major work. No central air, flooring was lopsided, structural foundation work had to be done, needed to change a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home into a 3 bed 3 full bath plus den home, needed to get permits, install a porch, redo the garage into an extra room, landscaping, etc. The list goes on. From the time my escrow was closed, to when everything was ready for move in, all of this was done in less than 4 months which is ridiculous in a time when materials and manpower was low. Friends who had half as much work to be done as I did spent over a year. In terms of costs, the speediness at which all this work was done saved me an incredible amount of money. In addition, every cost was stated very transparently, including any sudden, unforeseen changes or circumstances, as well as options to add, forego or make adjustments and those subsequent costs. Michael has decades of experience, and was crucial in thinking of things that I never would have that enhanced my home in ways I would not have imagined. He also is very very detail oriented and was always on site, making sure nothing, even small, seemingly insignificant things were overlooked. His staff was excellent, very communicative and knowledgable. He and his employees treated my home like their home, and the final product speaks for itself. Renovating a home can be extremely stressful especially when it is so hard to find a contractor you can trust. I had none of the experience that so many people had by working with Misong Construction, and would recommend them for any job.

Completely remodeled two full bathrooms and a powder room, gutted and replaced everything (new…read morefloors, tiles, vanity, toilet, etc). Both full baths had small tubs, so we changed one to a standing shower and put a larger tub in the other one. Met with seven contractors, choosing Modern Concepts/Charles was an easy decision. His price was fair, around middle of the pack, and he was punctual, approachable, and attentive - he was really listening to our requests instead of that fake, pretend listen. On top of all the moving parts in our main remodel, we also asked him to do random fixes and touch ups throughout the house like patch holes here and there, replace a light fixture part, change some GFCI outlets. No matter how big or small, Charles remembered and did every single one of them. Best of all, his quoted price remained the same from the day we met to the day it finished (alright, it did go up by $250 because we replaced the water supply angle stops, and asked him to drive out of the city to pick up two ridiculously heavy bathroom vanities). In a profession were it is a very real possibility that quoted prices may substantially increase as the job unfolds, I am very thankful for Modern Concepts' honesty and integrity for keeping their word from Day 1. Throughout the remodel process, Charles did a great job keeping me in the loop. I would stop by every 2 or 3 days to check on the progress, and every question or concern that was brought up, Charles was quick to address them. Whenever I was on site, any requests or questions I had for his team, they were always nice and willing to address them as well. His team is a good reflection and extension of their leader. Besides price, my other main concern was the practicalities of the remodel. My place has 3 floors with very narrow and tight angle stairs. Everything had to be stored in the garage which is on the first floor, so carrying it all up and down every single day was going to be labor intensive, to say the least. In the initial walkthrough with one of the other contractors we met, they literally complained the entire time about how difficult this remodel would be. Charles never had that attitude; his response to any and all challenges was simple, "no problem". It will forever be a mystery to me how he and his team carried the duo vanity with an attached counter top into the master bathroom. Once the job was near completion, we requested some grout to be touched up. Charles agreed without hesitation. Upon inspecting the results during our final walkthrough, I noticed some more areas that could use minor work. Again, Charles had his "no problem" demeanor. I was present the day his staff came to do the final touch ups and every spot I brought up to his attention, he fixed it with a great attitude. We couldn't be happier with the end result. The only problem now is that everything is so nice that we just want to look at it and not use it. The experiences I cherish most are those were you walk away with meaningful connections. In Modern Concepts, I truly feel that we've found a contractor for life and there is no question in my mind who we would call and recommend for all future projects.

Steven Vulin caused irreparable harm to our property, our finances, and our relationship with our neighbors. Upon initial hiring for our pool remodel, I was assured the company knew how to remodel a pool, but…read moreI was wrong. They weren't able to remove tiles properly which resulted in it breaking and needing an entire retile. Then came the jacuzzi remote with the controller that was installed in the jacuzzi. After multiple times asking to not close the remote because we won't have access to the jets, the remote was still covered with tile surrounding the jacuzzi. Which I then had to purchase a separate remote for 800$ to buy myself which doesn't have the jet pool settings on it. They claim I have one year warranty with them, tell me why every week someone new comes to check the pool and do absolutely nothing. Same thing during the remodel. Rz Cost me another 300$ with a shed company who was working in the property at the same time because they couldn't get their scheduling in order. The tile guy they sent initially wasn't even up for the job. Cussing me out on camera for days until I finally asked for a new guy. A list of incompetent people nevertheless showed up each time. Fast forward to today,the company has duplicate accounts on yelp. once the reviews get out there they mark it closed permanently and start a new one. I have went ahead and reported them for that.

I been very hesitant to write a review on this company because I feel so stupid that we my husband…read moreand I were taken advantage of by this company and that we allow it to happened to us. We though we were being smart in hiring a license contractor and this would not happened to us. However, when I saw that they have closed their previous RZ Remodeling yelp page that had bad reviews and open this one. I felt it was time because they are going to do it to someone else. See pictures attached showing the same license contractor number. Same webpage just change address and phone number. We hired RZ Remodeling for a Patio Cover/Balcony and a new construction sliding door (note we didn't know the difference between a retrofit sliding door and new construction) but now we know. Ron Zizov was our point of contact and the person who represented RZ Remodeling as the CEO we hired to do the job. We didn't have money to start the project so he referred two finance companies to us which sent the money to RZ Remodeling directly. We signed the contract on 5/13/2023 project didn't start until October/November of 2023. The project finish around July/August of 2024. When the project finish we were not happy but again we felt it was our fault for going into contract with him and RZ Remodeling. On 2/13/2025 It rain hard for a couple of days. I contacted Ron and Cynthia (office manager) to let them know that water was coming into our walls and the patio cover was leaking through (see some pictures attached). I told them I was worry the water going inside our walls would turn into mold. On 02/20/2025, Ron send Miguel and Ellie to our home to see how they can fix the leaks and reported back to Ron. Miguel reported back to Ron informing him that the Patio Cover and Balcony needed to be redone. That it was not safe and who ever did the job it was really bad and unsafe. Ron accused me of wanting a new Patio Cover/Balcony and that was not under warranty that he was only going to fix the leaks. Note: the whole project was not waterproof including the new sliding door. Miguel has never returned to our home since then. March 4, 2025 - A worker named Jeroin came to do a temporary fix to the leaks because rain was in the forecast. The sealer that he put on our Balcony damage the tiles and didn't stop the leaks. I have text from Cynthia stating this was only a temporary fix. I also have video that shows after the temporary fix our patio was still leaking. May 1, 2025 - Ron send Jimmy to see the Patio Cover and Balcony and Jimmy explain to us in detail how he would fix it and that he was going to explain that to Ron. Jimmy explained to my husband and I, all the defects that our Patio Cover and Balcony have. Ex. the wood beam that they installed against the house to support the structure was on top of the stucco and it was missing the flush to prevent water leakage. Also, it has 2 bolts every two feet to support the weight of the structure but the bottom bolts are loose not attached to the house and the top bolts are tilted down to reach the beam of the house. That is the reason it is not safe to have more than maybe 2 people on the balcony. He also showed us two metal brackets that support the cross beam at the end of the balcony, they installed those brackets backwards and they used the wrong screws to secure it. The balcony tile is damaged and cannot be saved. He also mentions that for an outside structure they should have used red wood instead of pine wood to avoid the wood expending and damaging the structure. The railing installed on the balcony was installed on top of the tile which cracked the tile and caused water to leak through. In addition, before installing the tile on the balcony they should have added some type of sealer such as hot mop to avoid leakage. The wood installed on top of the Balcony railing is also untreated wood and is cracking and damaged in less than a year. The same with the metal stairs and railing, they are rusty because they were not treated with the right paint against rain. The patio ceiling is bowing. Our patio ceiling has lighting and wires running through it. Which can cause an electrical shortage and even start a fire if the leaks are not fix. Jimmy was supposed to start working on our Patio Cover and Balcony on May 17, 2025. He never showed up. On Tuesday May 20, 2025, Ron called my husband and said he couldn't get a hold of Jimmy, to please give him another day to locate Jimmy and that is the last time we had any contact with Ron at RZ Remodeling. May 2025 - After being told by Miguel and Jimmy that our Patio Cover and Balcony was not done right and unsafe. I decided to go to the Building and Safety in Santa Clarita, to find out what our rights were. The clerk told me that the City Permit was filed but then canceled months after. I left the building crying and feeling hopeless. As of today still no contact from anyone at RZ Remodeling. After doing a lot of research I have file 3 complaints on this.

I had two contractors come out; one said there was no leak but it was soaking through the ceiling. The second one charged me for a repair that failed two days after the repair. It was not a pleasant experience. West Point Builders did a great job and I would definitely recommend them.
