He came home housebroken, crate trained, walks beautifully, has excellent manners (for the most part) around people and other dogs, and every few days we discover another piece of his training. It's clear Jake invested months into giving him a foundation that lasts beyond the training facility. What I appreciate most is that Beau is still completely himself. He's goofy, energetic, curious, and excited about life. The training didn't change his personality, it gave him structure and confidence. We're still at the very beginning of our journey together, and I'm sure there will be plenty for all of us to learn over the coming years. But starting with a dog who already has this kind of foundation has been an incredible gift. If the first two weeks are any indication, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jake and Anvil K9. Beau is living proof of the care and work they put into their work.

But when I met Jake at Anvil K9, I finally met my match. 5-star accommodations 5-star education 5-star restaurant 5-star enrichment 5-star adventure package The human, however? Only 4 stars. Now don't get me wrong--Jake is a good dude. Smart. Patient. Fair. Knows his dog stuff. But my man smells way too good. Jake, buddy, you gotta dial it back. Lose the deodorant. Roll in something questionable. Maybe a dead fish. You're setting unrealistic standards for the rest of us. Every time a lady dog came by, she'd sniff me once and then look at Jake like he was a fresh rotisserie chicken. Frankly, it was becoming a problem for my social life. Mom even abandoned me for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS--plus a couple extra days--so she could go spend time with her future fiancé or whatever. Extremely suspicious behavior. I considered filing a complaint. But I have to admit, I learned a ton. I came home with better manners, better focus, better obedience, and significantly fewer opportunities to embarrass myself in public. Would I recommend Anvil K9 and Jake? Absolutely. Would I trust them with my life? Without question. Would I trust Jake around my future wife? I never have to use corrections. I still don't completely trust Grace but corrections are maybe only once or twice in a week. They even stop when there are distractions like deer or cats!! I decided to adopt a kitten, which turned into two…read morenew kittens, and I spent a lot of time searching for what I hoped would be the best fit for both of us. I wanted to adopt long hair kittens and when I found a pair of long hair siblings on their site, I clicked on their "Adopt Me" buttons. I filled out the 2 page application online and went through their phone interview on Friday. I had to get certificates to prove my other pets are current on their vaccinations. Finally I set an in-person appointment for Monday. (They only take appointments and no public walk-ins at this time.) I called on Saturday to confirm my appointment for Monday which was scheduled for noon, which is the time they open. When I spoke with their employee they, once again, verified my information and then told me that the siblings I applied to adopt had just gone home together with their new family.They offered to let me come over on Monday to see who else might be available. Why did my applications ask for the names of the kittens I wanted to adopt if they weren't planning to hold them at least through my appointment time? How does this happen when they're "by appointment only"? Was anyone going to call and let me know before I drove 80 miles on Monday? (When I asked this question, she said they would not have called.) It makes no sense. There should be a disclaimer on the website saying that confirmed appointments and specific pet applications do not guarantee you'll receive the pet/s you're applying for. So--Beware. When you click "adopt ME" , you're really just going through hoops to be approved for an appointment to adopt from that particular days available pets. It's a classic "bait and switch." I'm sure there are plenty of fantastic pets available, but I researched, clicked "adopt ME", and entered their names on the application for a pair of brothers because they were the ones I wanted to adopt. I wish they were more upfront regarding this practice- in this age of technology, it should not be difficult to place a "pending adoption"notice in the pet's file. It takes effort to get to the appointment setting stage so it doesn't seem there'd be a lot of people getting approved and then skipping their adoption appointments.

Don't let the exterior of this place fool you (they're getting a brand new facility soon!). The staff take such great care and love for the animals that are there. If you're interested in adopting a new family friend, take the time to walk the kennels to see if there is a pet that tickles your fancy. Our tank ran flawlessly for years, a stable 36-gallon saltwater setup that we maintained meticulously with no issues whatsoever. That all changed when, after 2.5 years without adding any new fish or livestock, we decided to purchase one from their store. Not long after introducing it to our quarantined system, the new fish brought in Ich, contaminating the entire tank. We lost two healthy, long-term fish as a result. Nothing else had been added to the tank in over two years, so the source was unmistakably clear, this fish from Bermuda Triangle. I get it, diseases can slip through in this hobby sometimes, and we're experienced enough to know the risks. But we reached out to the owner politely, asking if he'd consider even a small concession, just a few dollars off to help offset the cost of replacing the lost fish. We weren't demanding free replacements or a full refund; just some goodwill gesture for loyal customers. After a lengthy phone call, he adamantly refused any kind of help or accountability. It was shocking, the owner is a piece of work, showing zero willingness to stand behind his sales. There are far better, more reputable options out there, like stores in Hixson or reliable online suppliers who actually care about customer satisfaction. Skip Bermuda Triangle for anything live; the risk of introducing diseased fish to your tank isn't worth it. Weak ownership and poor service--1 star only because of our past purchases. Stay cautious.
