The customer service is very poor! The bar tenders are slow and they only cater to customers they know. Order drinks and they were missing one and it took the over an hour to bring it! Ordered food and never got it but the waiter constantly kept coming to the table asking for us to pay the bill, 1st bring the other drink and check on the food! I heard good things about the food here but it left a lot to be desired. They do charge extra for using a card vs cash, as most food establishments tend to do these days. I do appreciate it being plainly shown on the receipt so it's up to the customer to decide next time opposed to just blindly up-charging the customer, like other places. Parking is hit or miss in the area, so I intentionally went not long after opening hours. The restaurant was completely empty when I arrived. I thought that would mean no long waits for food. I was wrong. Also, the service wasn't the most pleasant for placing a takeout order. The gentleman behind the counter seemed frustrated and hesitant to offer a menu, as if I was supposed to know everything they offer despite being a first time customer. I had the grilled chicken rasta pasta. Almost an hour wait! It was a decent portion, but overly salted. I probably would not get that again. I was so happy to be invited to give this southern charm, restaurant a try. When I arrived I was able to find parking on the street nearby. I walked in and went to the back and gave my name. The nice young lady said I could sit anywhere. I sat at the bar, and Mo was my bartender, and she was great. I started with a mocktail and it was delicious! I then got served a bunch of items from Miss B, one of the owners/cook, and she was sooo generous! I had the fried shrimp, catfish, and salmon bites, seafood mac & cheese, soko and dolce wings, and the turkey chop entrée. My absolute favorite was the soko wings and the seafood mac & cheese! Saturday I dropped by Southern Comfort to get potato salad. I love supporting black owned businesses, however if the service, or product is a bit off, and nothing was made to correct it, than I will share my experience with hopes that it may improve service. I walk in, place an order for a very small container of potato salad, the lady behind the counter said $4. Ok, I'm thinking this potato salad will be great. This is where the turn off begins. After I paid the lady that took my money walks away. I'm thinking to get my order, no she's just walking around. My order comes out, and a young girl asks me: Employee: Have you paid Me: Yes I can clearly see the lady that took my order, and payment is within earshot of this other employee asking me have I paid. I would have expected the lady to interject, and say; Yes, she has paid, and give me my order. The employee hands me the order. I leave, I get the order to my place, and the potato salad is predominantly eggs with some potatoes. Which meant I had to pick through the potato salad to not get all eggs. Now I'm pissed because I wasted time, and money to get food that was not what I expected. I am a third generation business owner, and customer service, manners, class, and appreciation is key to my luxury real estate business. If I visit other businesses, and service is not good. Since new owners have taken over, the menu has been revamped. There are some interesting and good add-ons such as the salmon bites as an appetizer. it comes with a choice of one sauce. Instead we decided to call, upon the restaurant answering it was so loud on their end I had to move the phone from my ear so my ear drum didn't burst. After they said hello I mentioned I wanted to order for pick up and then I received silence from the person but still very loud background noise. I don't know why these people on here lying. The food is mediocre at best and the service lacks as well. I ordered here a few days ago and I don't even know where to start. The lady who takes the orders over the phone needs a hearing aide. I had to repeat myself 50/11 times and she still got my order wrong. The menu says they offer grilled options but when asked if they could grill a particular protein they said they couldn't. Food was expensive and nasty. The cabbage was unseasoned, the Mac and cheese was dry and bland. They use yellow rice out of the box and the fried chicken was obviously fried in old cooking oil. The oxtail gravy was starchy which was weird, but they were tasty and tender. Greens, Lima beans and candied yams= ALL GOOD! But that Mac & cheese was a DOOZIE! The service was good. The young man that took my order was pleasant. It didn't take them long to prepare my to-go order which was nice. The restaurant is very small and there is little to no parking. The Mac n cheese was dry and not good the collards were not cooked with smoked turkey and lacked flavor and the turkey chops were not smothered. To start with the good...This place has great food, I've enjoyed seafood dinners in the past and have frequented this business on several occasions. With that being said, the service is unfavorable and unwelcoming to say the least. Tonight, I called in over the phone to make a pick-up order and the female "manager on duty" seemed irritated with the questions I had about my meal of choice. Everyone's entitled to an off day, but if you work customer service, perhaps you may want to consider a new position if your attitude will be so poor when a customer is simply trying to make the best selection. This was not a one-off situation, the staff is rarely pleasant and are standoffish (some more than others), but todays' hostile service was over the top! Before finalizing my meal, I asked for my orders' total...this woman then passes the phone to her co-worker saying, "HERE... I CAN'T HEAR HER; SHE'S TALKING TOO WHITE!" As an educated Black woman, I find it disgusting and mind-boggling on so many levels! If you don't have anything uplifting to say to the next person, you should've been taught to say nothing at all...especially such an ignorant statement that lacks awareness and professionalism! This is solely my opinion and experience! They missed the mark on this food, and I wasted $37.41, however the portions are decent. I will critique from the top left on down. The cornbread appeared to be cake like, however it was bland and dry as a rock! Who makes potato salad with red potatoes and leaves the skin on? The taste profile was not to my liking and the chef needs to go back to grandma's recipe box and make some real southern potato salad! The yams were listed as candied on the menu and what I received looked more like a soufflé. The taste was good, however I hate stringy yams. I'm not a chef, however to avoid that you must slice it appropriately. The greens tasted okay, but I received more stems than actual greens! Now, the final taste for the star of the show "Smothered Turkey chops" which I was influenced to order at the recommendation of the two host at the front of the restaurant was overrated and I was extremely disappointed. The gravy was thick and flavorless which caused me to add more sauce of my liking to try and get through it. Well, the turkey chops were tough and so far from tender. Next time, I will order what I'm familiar with their Rasta Pasta with chicken or shrimp is definitely official. I hope the chef will see my review and go back to grandma's old recipe. Thank You! They still had some green color to them. The candied yams were delicious. I just would have preferred them in chunks rather than puréed. My daughter had the buffalo wings with mac and cheese and french fries. Instead of fries, she really wanted either coleslaw or potato salad, but was told they were still making them. It was already 2:00, I think they should have been prepared and had some. She was happy with her meal. She also had a glass of the lemon iced tea. The iced tea was delicious. The food is absolutely horrible! How is this place even selling food? The Mac-n-cheese was extremely salty, overcooked and underwhelming; the collard greens were bland and overcooked; the fried chicken was not seasoned enough (the skin did have a nice crunch) and lastly, the candied yams were way too sweet/inedible. The space was recently renovated and while they did a great job with that project, the focus now needs to be on hiring a new head chef. Nice the second time. I like this place. Do not come so often. But I have to give them their props for good food. I only go in afternoon. Food is fresh and prepared with great taste. They got a club downstairs or in back I am told. Have not seen it. But they do have live musicians there time to time. Parking in the afternoon is not so bad. After eating there and enroute to my next destination, my bodyy reacted (rather rejected) my food and I had to pull over (3X) to go to the bathroom with runs. It was case of food poisoning. I will never go back to a place with such sub par service. Literally waited damn near 3hrs for food that we didn't even eat.. We ordered 2appetizer 3 entrees and hookah. while we had already waited an hour we were informed that they didn't have the proteins for 1 of the orders. We requested for something different and the food never came out. I was over it at that point and didn't want my order however my friends wanted theirs. After being there for over 2hrs our food began to come out and the order is still wrong but we just take it anyway because we already waited all this time. They tried to do damage control and it just backed fired on us. In fact we were told the food was comp for our wait and then couldn't even leave because we were accused for stealing. I have never experienced something like this and it sucks trying to support black owned businesses that just do the bare minimum. I don't know who the actual owner is and who is just the regular employees but y'all really have to do better. Not too sure if it's short staffed or over worked employee that cause y'all to fall so short but it was unexceptionable and y'all did nothing to fix the situation. I had my Christmas party chartered last evening and the food was delicious I've eaten here before. So I will definitely be using them again.

Tonight I came to celebrate my brother's birthday. This is my first time coming back since they have changed owners. The place is cute and the atmosphere was cool. The DJ was playing good music (hip-hop and r&b). Now onto why I gave this place 1 star. We put our food order a few minutes after we sat down. It took about 2hrs to receive my food. When I placed my order, inside was not busy. When my friend asked for the status of our order, the waiter told us that there was a big party that placed their order before ours so that was causing the delay. We waited some more and then asked again for the status to be told that 15-20 minutes. That only led to waiting more. Our food finally came out in which I ordered fried shrimp, Mac and cheese and candied yams. The fried shrimp was good. My Mac and cheese and yams were a bit cold. Just know that I will not be ordering or stopping by here for a while. read more
