I have several complaints. First of all, I am one class shy of 5 degrees, all with a 4.0. I'm not complaining because I'm not a good student. I only went to SNHU to further my education so that I could advance at my job. I had to have my BA by a certain date. I was talked out of the Degree I wanted so that I would finish faster. Made sense at the time. Afterwards I never heard from my condescending advisor (who suggested I needed therapy) even when I reached out to him. The program went longer than the end date they'd said so I still didn't get my degree in time. I lost the promotion, I lost my job, and ended up with a degree I didn't want. AND they wouldn't let me reapply and continue earning the degree I did want. Cost a fortune even with 100 % fin. aid. Without any contact, they sent me to collections almost immediately upon graduation. This was months before I received an email saying it was time to repay. I had unsupportive (flat out mean) instructors putting me down and telling me to give up on my career. Some didn't even seem to know about the subject they taught. I'm only giving it a 2 star because a couple instructors were really great. I could go on but ultimately a really horrible experience. read more

The "instructors", however, are incompetent. They also do not have any real instructors with longevity. The vast majority have been there under 5 years. They're rude, they do not listen nor communicate well, and they're all painfully ignorant. Save your money. I have already reported them to the department of education and encouraged several others to do the same. They need to be shut down immediately. I graduated here last 2024 and I am now starting my master's. My best 3 advisors were Hannah for my BA and for my now Master of Science, Zack. All the professors were great and very supportive. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL IF YOU ARE A FINANCIAL AID RECIPIENT. SNHU has an awful Financial Aid Department and there's a strong likelihood that any random student can be "flagged" for "Secondary Verification". When this happens it will be the death of your enrollment there. This will also mean you will not receive your Aid Package disbursement and will be dropped from your classes without appeal mid-term. Your aid will be canceled and then you'll be billed for your tuition. My experience was as follows: I started my enrollment process at SNHU in July 2025 for the term starting in September. At no point did they request or offer the opportunity for me to submit my proof of Identity. Both FASFA and BM Technologies (SNHU's bank) asked for ID right away. I supplied it to these two agencies and both of them verified my Identity. FASFA cleared me to receive over $7,000 in Aid for the remainder of the year. BM Technologies also verified my Identity and opened my disbursement account. This represents the agency that gives the money and the agency that disburses it. SNHU is just the school that takes a cut. After spending months of sometimes daily sometimes weekly contact with SNHU's admissions department I started school on September 1st. Then on Friday September 5th I received an email saying I had been selected for Secondary ID Verification,(they never conducted a first one). They wanted photos front and back of my ID and proof of live subject via video. This email was sent on September 5th, it came with a deadline of SEPTEMBER 5TH. Yes, the deadline was the same day they sent it out. I met this deadline and submitted all requested docs through SNHU's own third party provider's portal, with proof of live subject. The ID provided was a brand new government issued ID, issued two months earlier and is fully compliant with all the new TSA and Homeland Security protocols. A REALID Gold Star ID. I provided full facial recognition scan as well. I subsequently submitted/uploaded a copy of my Birth certificate front and back, 3 different bank cards front and back in my name, and a second ancillary form of photo ID (photo ID badge from work) I complained about making a request on the same day as the deadline. I called in as well. Got smart Alec responses and no reply dead-end emails back. SNHU put all my Aid on hold while "processing" my ID submission. Their provider said 3 to 5 business days. SNHU said they needed 7 to 10 business days. This time frame caused a delay in my funding as it was placed "on hold". After 10 business days had expired and my Aid not being disbursed I called and emailed complaints. I had been attending classes and maintaining a grade average in excess of 96 percent in all my classes. Despite all this, and 100 percent of the problem being SNHU I was dropped the day after my complaint about them taking longer than their own set time limit. I said, "If I'm late on an assignment my grades suffer. Why are you allowed to be late if im not" The following day I received an email saying I'd been dropped from all my classes because , "SNHU was unable to verify my Identity within the allotted 10 day time frame." Their time frame, their failure, their negligence, their incompetence, BUT MY LOSS, MY PUNISHMENT, MY AID HIJACKED. I'd been dropped from class mid-term and my FASFA money withheld. They then had the nerve to bill me and tell me I owed them 6000 dollars even though I was dropoed from my classes and approved for an Aid package from FASFA, but SNHU wasn't going to let me have it because they wouldn't accept my state of the art brand new State Issued ID, and abundant additional proofs. I've filed a complaint with the Department of Education and the BBB. It's still an open case. SNHU cost me months of time and hard work, followed by loss of my Financial Aid. This set me back four to six months on my education and destroyed many plans I had made while building my life around my attendance and expectation of cash disbursements to defray expenses I had incurred in so doing. I had to break promises made, looked like a liar and a fool to all my friends and family, and am experiencing mental pain and suffering as a result of SNHU's inexcusable, unprofessional and possibly criminal mistreatment of me. If you expect to be treated well with professionalism and have hopes of receiving cash credits back as part of financing your education with FASFA funding DO NOT CHOOSE Southern New Hampshire University. read more

Do not waste your time going/taking online classes here. The amount of misinformation I received on numerous occasions is mind boggling. I will never recommend this university to anyone. From the beginning, I stated NUMEROUS times that I did not want to use financial aid. I planned to pay in full with or without the grant I received after being pushed to fill out a FAFSA. But now, I am being asked to pay the amount that includes financial aid. Talk about a rip off. I have called and spent many hours on the phone, each time with a new person in the financial aid department having to re-explain my situation, even though at the beginning of each call they "claim" to record all the calls. Lo and behold, I file a complaint and they didn't listen to a single call - refusing to acknowledge the 100 times I stated I AM PAYING IN FULL AND NOT USING FINANCIAL AID. If you want to get a degree, and want to actually trust the administration to handle your account correctly (not stress you out each semester) don't use SNHU. I will scream it from the mountain tops. She blatantly lied about a phone appointment we had and said she called me and she hadn't. If she had, my cellphone would have shown a missed call! I don't understand the negative reviews unless it had something to do with personal experience however, I just graduated from this school Nov. 18th and actually visited the campus. Every staff member and even on campus students made you feel right at home even though I was an online student. I felt the love as soon as I walked onsite. Even though I was visiting my home campus, I would like to give the dining staff kudos for treating this new graduate lunch on them. I went inside just to take pics and to get a feel of campus life and giving me access to an all you can eat buffet was a true blessing! This school is extremely disappointing. I stopped attending about 10 years ago, and started classes back up again in January of this year. It just isn't the same as what it used to be. My current instructor (I will be blasting her name after this course ends, trust me) but she does not respond, she will not give feedback on WHY I was graded the way that I was. She grades inconsistently and it seems nearly impossible to receive a 100 percent. I reach out to ask her why, and she will not respond at all. This school only wants to set you up for failure. They provide zero support. I even expressed my concerns to the dispute team, and they still didn't find that her behavior was unethical, as she doesn't respond to her students. The school simply allows this behavior to occur, which is absolutely mind boggling! It's disgusting even. They just take your money expect you to sink while not caring whether or not you fail. The instructor on my first term was great! But I worry that won't always be the case and I am only wasting my money on incompetent instructors with inconsistency in their grading. Just don't expect them to help you and be on your side, because it will never happen. SNHU clearly allows unethical behavior by instructors and allows them to get away with it. We pay hundreds of dollars for classes, and they can't understand from a students perspective? I would make sure you do some solid research before getting yourself involved with this school. DO NOT GO HERE!!! They are NOT supportive of working professionals! I spent over $22K in the online Masters Nursing Ed program, was in my last 4/12 classes and instructor Roussell (NUR-557) refused to grade an on-time assignment (through the tech available to me: their Bongo platform is extremely unreliable & difficult to navigate). My A average going into week 8/10 turned into a C (from this 1 assignment) which is did not meet the B- course requirement. She refused to give me ANY credit despite desperate pleas informing her of employment & financial constraints. She showed no empathy for a fellow Nursing professional. Only option was to re-take the course for another $2000. I withdrew. Grade disputes & 2 appeals went nowhere. Deans are insulated and unavailable to online students. To add insult to injury, the appeals guy, finally offers me someone he found "that is willing to speak to you" BTW still no DEAN, some licensure person. I make an appt on her on-line calendar (her telephone # does not accept external calls) for 2 weeks out, I missed the appt but received an email the next day stating it was nice to meet with me. Needless to say, I transferred all credits to CSU. They offer same degree: each course is $1000 cheaper and 2 weeks shorter. I enrolled for the upcoming October 2025 semester. Was given a academic advisor named Samantha morissette who decided since I needed ADA accommodations instead of sending me to the office of accommodations. She told me to drop out because I was not a good fit for the school. Her direct supervisor, Tara Colby decided instead of actually addressing the issue, she just filed a complaint against me with the office of standards which was retaliatory because I said I wanted to file a complaint against her subordinate. I brought this to the university's attention and was basically told we appreciate your opinion on our staff members but it's not warranted or needed. That management will handle all decisions. Which is code for. We aren't doing anything about it and there's nothing you can do. In my experience, SNHU felt more focused on business practices than education, and I perceived a strong leaning towards quota and political bias, which negatively impacted my learning environment. While this college is excellent at propelling your opportunities and helping with your future goals, unfortunately you have to be careful which advisors/professors you get. They seem to want to hit their quota regardless of the work they receive. Scott Mclellan is one of those professors. If you enter one of his courses, try and switch as soon as possible. SNHU is incredibly bad for those who struggle with medical issues. I had to drop out of a class before the end of the first week due to a stay within the hospital, and they were uncooperative all the way through, despite me providing them with medical documents, and had to pay the for all my classes out of pocket. I called them while I was in the hospital before their end of the week deadline that I wasn't going to be able to make it, and provided them with the medical documents once I got out, I played by the rules they provided and still got screwed. This has made me very leery when it comes to online schooling, I would recommend in person schooling specifically if you struggle with a disability that may cause unexpected and elongated hospital stays. read more

The dispute team , office of resolutions, and the grade appeal policy staff is a joke literally. They do not support the students at all at SNHU at all unless your a certain "minority ". Flying all the way from New Mexico for my wife's graduation with her masters degree was something of an ordeal. Once we arrived at the arena, the staff and fellow students could not have been more helpful. Southern New Hampshire University has a beautiful campus that is well-maintained. Parking like any other university is a commodity but we were able to find something without having to walk 20 miles. In the end, it's worth it to see the smile on my wife's face as she walks across the stage to receive her MBA. The financial aid department started accepting my award amounts without allowing me to see them first. I had to repeatedly fill out loan reduction forms because they don't allow you to modify them before they accept them on your behalf. They chose your classes for you, which is okay, but my advisor enrolled me in 2 of my electives without consulting me (utterly unrelated to the career path I established with her). I thought they were required because it was inconceivable that they would choose electives for me. A professor gave me the rudest, most dishonest, and inaccurate feedback I'd ever seen. It was so blatant that I had to look her up, thinking she was an imposter. There were 20ish terrible reviews, most concerning almost the same issue I encountered. The dispute resolution contact was rude, oblivious to the case, and sent me a template denial a few days later. Academic integrity is not a thing here. Over half the DB posts appeared to be pasted from AI chatbots. I withdrew and transferred to UT. read more

This is currently my first hair at snhu and certain instructors are very good at what they do they provide feedback on how they want to work done and they give praise when do but other professors are horrible they don't give feedback and then several incidents happen where I'm getting good grades and then either at the end of semester or several weeks later they changed my grade for no apparent reason and then I'm like what on Earth is going on now mind you is only select instructors and I'm left with a low grade point average and nothing I can do about it and one instructor reported me for cheating when I did not cheat and I was never given the chance to prove that I did not cheat which is so f****** weird honestly I hate snhu but I do have an awesome instructor her name was Mrs White shout out to you and it was another instructor in the beginning she was awesome too I totally forgot her name but like I said certain instructors are awesome but others are not I don't know I feel like it was set out there is no way that each semester at the end of the course literally at the end of the course when I can't reply or we're going on break you're changing my grade for my a to a failing grade I honestly am so disappointed. read more

The history class I took was entirely founded in Critical Theory, and all the assignments were essentially talking points on the left. Most of the readings were sociology, journalism, or "studies," and you could only get good grades if you parroted woke ideology. am very unsatisfied with their dispute resolution specialist Helen robbins . I have been sick since March 1 due to Covid in and out of the hospital fighting my way through this class every single step submitting my assignments later than I usually do and subpar work at that! They offered an emergency withdrawal with documentation which I gave them from the hospital but what they don't understand, is me working as a medical assistant I was able to be diagnosed with a precocious anemia at my job by showing my provider my bloodwork. The Hospital couldn't even diagnosed me with that because they didn't know what they were doing so unfortunately, the school would rather me fail the class then help me withdraw from the class without having to pay for tuition as a single mom working a full-time job. Absolutely do not care about their students whatsoever. I've been going there for three years and now I'm gonna have to start over somewhere else where I feel I can be helped better and with people that have more compassion form extenuating, circumstances like mine. Do not make the mistake and believing that these people care about you we are just a number. Update: Helen Robbins is now trying to get my in trouble because of my frustration with her lack of empathy, professionalism and integrity during the is process. Honestly, I wanted to like this school. Admissions and financial aid was easy, but then unfortunately I got hit with COVID, Pneumonia, and several other health issues. On top of such, I had to work more to support my family and my own bills so I could not do school. I tried to withdraw so that I could re-enroll later on, and I thought it was all good but apparently not. Now that I have time to dedicate to schooling, I called to see how I could re-enroll. I got an academic advisor named Donna who was incredibly rude and once she confirmed my information, all she said was, "You have been dismissed and are no longer welcome to SNHU." REALLY? She did not provide a reason or any other information and even told me that I should just settle with a different degree that wasn't even remotely close to what I was studying. The lack of empathy with her was just baffling. Though I did call back later and get another advisor named Ryan who was very sweet and even explained to me why I was dismissed permanently, and also told me that I could appeal it but was also very honest that the chances were very slim and not worth the time. Actually empathetic and very kind, Donna could afford to take some lessons from him. Now they've sent me to collections without any attempt to even contact me. After taking multiple classes and finishing them all with A's, I was in week 2 of an online course when tragedy hit my family. 2 of my family members died within 2 days of each other. I dropped the class to get through the funerals and the pain. I received a phone call from the college saying I would have to pay $1000 for the 2 weeks of attendance. After explaining the situation, I was told to contact someone who could waive the charges because of the circumstance. I contacted them and they requested the obituary. I emailed it to them and was denied. I called them and was told that many of their students try to drop classes with supposed family tragedies. He said for all he knows I am lying about it. SNHU turned me in to a collection agency who calls me often. If they suspect that I am a liar, maybe they should have kicked me out of the classes and expelled me from the 3 honor societies that I belong to. Don't go to school here. This is by far the worst college I have ever attended. They say that this is affordable but your financial aid barely covers one 8 week term. I'm still paying for the ONE barely even completed term I attended because they told me my financial aid would cover and then they took it all back, so I was forced to pay out of pocket. They basically force you into applying when you show interest and start enrolling you in courses. Don't fall for it. Unless you want to take out loans and be in debt, don't go here. They don't tell you the whole truth about your experience and hide a bunch of hidden fees. When you need to withdrawal, it seems like they'll be graceful with you until almost 6 months later they send you the bill with no warnings. In reading some reviews, I do question the "negative ones." I attended SNHU from 2015-2018 and graduated Magna Cum Laude in nursing, BSN. My initial intention was to achieve a Masters's Degree, and I was enrolled in that track as an "RN to MSN" student. I was led to believe that because I had earned a nursing degree back in 1976, I would simply succeed in a couple of bachelor of science classes and my BA would be "converted" to a BSN and then I would pursue the MSN. NOT!!!. When it came time for graduation, you request a "petition to graduate." That petition is a full "accounting" of your classes and what you have earned. Unfortunately, my BA in Nursing was never attested to, so in their eyes, it didn't exist. I had attempted to contact Purdue University, but because of the extensive elapsed time period, my undergraduate degree could not be found, and those people I had established relationships with at the school had all passed away (1976-2018?) I was angry as my MSN had been turned into a Bachelor's degree and not a Masters. I was totally dismayed. Of course, SNHU is an "online" university, and many of the "in's and out's" fall on the student. I should have been more conscientious of what was going on. They are, after all a, business and they need to and rely on making profits to survive. I should have been more cautious in what classes I was being assigned to and by far, what outcomes were evidenced to me in those three years. My "faulting" of the school was that they did NOT communicate well with me as to my "standing" with the past, present and future degrees I had or would hold. Turns out that Purdue had not held a "full health sciences" area until 1980, my transcripts and credentials were held in the basement of the "General College," which had been water damaged. Now in 2018, there is not much incentive to either find or even hold those old records. I was now in my sixties and most people in my situation would not be worrying about past college participations or graduation. In the world of "today," we must all be our own advocates, we must know the ins and outs of what we are doing, buying or attempting to accomplish. Simply screaming "fowl" is not going to forgive any debt we have incurred and those "sour grape" claims just don't hold water. I now work for a local university teaching nursing and am participating in their MSN program a 90% tuition reduction, I graduate this spring in May and no one will ever take away my advanced degree. Now those who complain about SNHU and not getting back "tuition" and other fees, or getting "refunds." It is like Judge Judy says, "You can't get a refund when you ate the sandwich or even a part of it." Once you enroll, start, take part and then quit, you will still need to pay for "eating the sandwich." read more
