This school sucked. Robbed me and did not help with my education. I unfortunately was kicked out my third year of nursing school due to having marijuana in my system. Previous months before I had obtained a breast reduction surgery and was in immense pain. I also herniated one of my discs. Using marijuana was the only way I could find comfort during this time. I also had a Massachusetts medical marijuana card at that point. None of that mattered. They kicked me out after making me attend three classes prior to telling me. I had written and essay and declined precious time with my friends as I had schoolwork that proved not important anymore. With all of that I was sent home. They gave me less than a week before moving all of my stuff out. Coincidentally two of my grandparents suffered strokes that week and I had to help my family with that. There was no care and they threatened to throw away all my belongings. After emailing my frustration to the president of the campus there was no regard for my mental well being. Saint Anselm college was one of the worst two year experience of my life as well as a gigantic waste of money. They also refused me a 15,000 dollar refund after only being there for two weeks. I dislike every educator and staff member there. They would rather have coked and pilled out students with borderline alcoholic disease running around them a girl who was just trying to deal with her pain. If I could give zero stars I would. Besides separating boys and girls from each other, being able to count all the people of color on one hand, racist and homophobic monks this is not the place you want to waste your money on. I had reached out for mental health help as well as academic and was denied that as well. I only have one friend from this experience. The rest of it was a complete waste of time. The best place in the entire world. I've never been part of such an inclusive, faithful, and dedicated community. I'm getting verklempt thinking about my time on the hilltop. From the amazing food (and workers) in the dining hall to the traditional Sunday mass in the Abbey Church--there is a place for everyone to call home on campus. The curriculum made me a more well-rounded human and made me appreciate my faith and friends more than ever. There are opportunities to get involved in everything on campus. I played four years of varsity lacrosse, studied in Italy my junior fall, was an orientation leader for two years, went on a WBA service trip, worked a campus job in the dining hall, and enjoyed hanging out with my friends on the weekends. Super small. Super, super small. The campus sits on a small hill in Manchester and is designed in a circular orientation. There seems to be a central green and everything else is around it...so walking to class or anywhere in between is a breeze but also very claustrophobic! This place reminds me of a few larger private high schools I visit. The residence hall is neat in the sense that it's keyless entry but everything about this place is old school. The walls are cinder block but thin so you can hear everything and all the doors slam anytime they are closed. There is a sink in the room but the hot water doesn't work- thanks for that! The campus also has-get this- JUST ONE ATM! And this one ATM charges you $3.50 to withdraw! Talk about a rip off! The only redeeming quality here is that the cafeteria does offer decent dessert. read more

We as 100+ families of the student athletes of the Saint Anselm Football team in Manchester, NH. We would like to express our complete opposition to Saint Anselm College President DiSalvo and the St A's Board of Trustees on their attempt to reclassify St A's athletic programs from D II to Division III in an extremely nontransparent way. President DiSalvo informed the student athletes on August 25, the day that the football players returned to campus for camp. As you can imagine the VAST majority of the parents, student athletes, coaches and alumni we have spoken with are in fierce opposition to this move. The freshman and sophomore student athletes (as well as ALL student athletes) were recruited with the understanding that they would be competing at the Division II level, NOT D III. All the while over the past year or so the President and the Board of Trustees were contemplating this move to Division III behind closed doors. This move was deceitful and definitely not in the spirit or principles of what St Anselm was founded on. The President and the BOT should have been honest and upfront with these student athletes and their parents. We feel this move to Division III will greatly damage the school academically, athletically and socially forever. "This decision is not indicative of a school that identifies itself as a "College with a Conscience." Nor as a school that prides itself on integrity. We are asking President DiSalvo and the BOT to stop this reclassification move immediately until it goes through a legitimate and transparent process. Shouldn't the student athletes, parents as well as anyone else who is affected by this move be consulted? The majority of these student athletes and parents feel so betrayed by the President and the BOT. St. Anselm teaches its students to dare to make a difference and stand out from the rest of the pack. Take a stand on issues that are deemed unfair or unjust. At the very least to be given a soap box to stand on and be heard. Those rights are being squelched and manipulated in a way that is not a true representation of the overall voice of St. Anselm College. If moving to D III is such a great move for the college then why wasn't the President and the BOT transparent over the past year or so with this process? Because it isn't great for the college it's a giant step backwards. It's very important to understand the lies of omission that occurred with all of the incoming student athletes. Many of their lives would be much different right now if the news of this move was made public. Seems to us that the people that will be affected the most should have had the option to change their mind rather than be blind sided with this drastically "changing the face of the school" forever news. Is this integrity? No. It's the process that extremely troubles us. When you visit the St. Anselm web site and click on the About Us link at the bottom of the page, the last paragraph states: "Named one of the country's Colleges with a Conscience by The Princeton Review, Saint Anselm shapes the kind of leader the world is hungry for; not only smart, but good. We invite you to be one of them." It seems to us that the current process to move to D III is the antithesis of that statement. As our student athletes move on from college and into the business world is this the type of example that will be the legacy of St. Anselm for each of them? Is this process shaping the type of leader that is indicative of the St. Anselm way? Are these young men and women being conditioned to remain quiet and settle for the status quo and to not speak up, be heard and lead? St. Anselm College is a faith filled Catholic Institution founded in 1889 by the world's oldest religious order, the Benedictines. We are talking about an institution that has its roots and foundation squarely centered on doing the right thing, called integrity. It is time that everything is placed on hold and this process is started over in a very transparent process. Begin in a way that accurately represents the values and integrity that St. Anselm has always stood for and strived for. If, in the end, a move to D III is prudent, then we will all know that it was done in a manner that represented the whole institution, past, present and future and done in a way that represented the type of leader that St. Anselm wishes to deliver to the world.
