Popped into this place after being curious about it for years. It's quite a sight to behold, with…read moredecades' worth of quilts, quilting tools, and bolts of fabric from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Everything was pretty expensive, but sadly that's to be expected at a small business like this. I purchased a yard and a half of pretty pink and yellow fabric that I intend to turn into a pillow. It was about $15. There were a group of older ladies in the back of the store who were working on projects and chatting. One of them worked at the store, and she came up to check on us and answer questions. She also gave me a pamphlet that showcased all their upcoming classes and events (including a quilting retreat???), which I assume also accounted for the group in the back. I would have been interested in a couple of the beginner-friendly events, except that they were also pretty expensive. Also, they didn't have any classes for kids, which surprised me. I feel like that sort of thing would be good to have and promote to help stay in business these days. Still, hopefully they're doing well, especially after Jo-Ann closed.

The variety of fabrics here are beyond. There is something for everyone. The displays are well organized and the store itself is very clean. The two young ladies took their time o help me find what I was in search of. The prices vary, although I don't think it's too difficult to pinpoint something in your price range. If you're in the Houston area and looking for any type of African fabric or lace, I would definitely recommend stopping here first. A wonderful first experience, I will definitely be back.

They both were very knowledgeable and helped to interpret a pattern that I was sent via email. I bought some really colorful, cute fabric for a scrub cap project that I'm working on. It also called for grosgrain ribbon which they don't sell (it is a quilt shop, after all). I asked where I might be able to find some and they suggested Hobby Lobby and even gave me directions on how to get there! I'm only in the area for a couple of weeks but if I lived here and seriously wanted to take up quilting, this would be my go-to shop! Local quilters and crafters, please support this terrific fabric shop! It's a gem!

This time, the class was a manageable size with 2 instructors. I feel like class went SO much better and I made a lot more progress on my project. The teacher was able to catch some of my mistakes and correct them and I was also able to ask questions. I'm really glad I gave it another try, and I'm looking forward to finishing my project.

I told her she was breaking the federal law then she offered me a spot way in the back by myself so no one would complain. I immediately asked for a refund as that was discriminatory. I cannot believe I was treated this way trying to learn a new hobby. But now reading the other reviews it seems I have dodged a bullet by not taking this class.

It's an art installation -- It's a huge networking opportunity -- It's an enormous market for…read morequilters and crafty types -- It's a way to support great charities -- It's the International Quilt festival!!!! This yearly event is put on by Quilts Inc., a local Houston business who works to promote the quilting arts and to protect quilts through their support of the Texas Quilt Museum. This is one of the biggest trade shows in Houston, if not the biggest. It's also the largest gathering of quilts and quilters. The show is amazing as it displays some of the most beautiful and unique quilts produced in the world. This is not just local stuff. Quilts from all over the world receive their due. Companies and organizations have contests for different styles and processes as well as just contests for artistry. The winners are showcased here. There are quilts for sale and quilts for admiring. Some quilts are sold in special booths to raise funds for charities, so you can take home a little art for yourself. The market side is HUGE and has everything you'd ever imagine, from software to thread and needles and patterns and tools or lights or jewelry to announce that you like quilting. I'm agog every time I go. It's really too much to take in, especially in just one day. Good thing it runs several days. Check it out when it comes back to town. The event usually takes place at the end of October or the first part of November.
