Le Creuset is so sturdy. My inherited mid-twentieth century Dutch oven is used many times a week…read more It must have enjoyed spending a few nights in the refrigerator as they say "chillin' ". (Surprised there was room for it). Is three nights in a row pushing the use of leftovers? I don't think so especially if they can be given a different treatment for each dinner. Night one was chicken thighs slow cooked in a bit of wine with onion, garlic, celery and cashews with toasted turmeric, soy sauce and oyster sauce. Night two was the remaining meat, boned, and its sauce with thin spaghetti, and lots of black pepper. Night three was a delicious broth made from the cooking water of carrots and sauce (who knew this would work?). The reason that I'm writing this, is to a large measure, the photo of my favorite part of this dish. Mathematician Bf beautifully noodl-ized a brick of firm tofu. Sixteen cuts to the length and five cuts to the depth produced the cutest and very accurate thin tofu slices. Could I do this? Never. The Le Creuset Dutch oven was smiling that it may get some time off now.

high-end prices low end service…read more I expected a very different level of customer service from Le Creuset, especially given the premium price point of their products. I ordered a set of pots and pans for $665. Instead, Le Creuset sent me a 16-piece dinnerware set retailing for approximately $255--an entirely different product worth considerably less than what I purchased. Despite this being their fulfillment error, I was told they would not refund my $665 or send the correct merchandise until I did two things: first, respond to an email confirming the color of the dishes they mistakenly sent me, and second, return the incorrect dinnerware and wait for them to receive it. In other words, Le Creuset was holding my $665 while requiring me to correct an error that they made before they would make the situation right. I contacted customer service multiple times and asked repeatedly to speak with a supervisor. Each time, I was told that a supervisor was "not available." No one was willing or apparently empowered to offer a reasonable solution. To make matters worse, after two days, I still had not even received the promised prepaid return label needed to send their merchandise back. Mistakes happen. What separates excellent companies from poor ones is how they respond when they make a mistake. For a company selling products at this price point, I expected them to take ownership, correct the order promptly, and then facilitate the return of the merchandise they mistakenly shipped. Instead, the burden and financial inconvenience were placed entirely on me. If you are considering purchasing Le Creuset products, I would strongly recommend buying through a reputable retailer such as Crate & Barrel or Williams Sonoma, where you may have better options for resolving customer-service issues. I love the quality and design of Le Creuset products, but based on this experience, I would not purchase directly from the company again. Premium products and premium prices should come with premium customer service. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but.

Le Creuset Marketing Office - This is where the sour cream was added when carrots soft. Ideally pureed. Maybe tonight.

As you can see in my screenshot, it felt like this company just wants your money, and no questions are allowed. I was genuinely shocked by the responses. The screenshot shows my second question after this person couldn't even answer the first one. All I wanted to know was how they do the installation so I could make the right decision. Instead, this person came back basically saying they didn't want to answer any technical questions, in a very rude way, plus the conspiracy theory that "I am in the industry." Apparently, asking about backsplash installation accidentally activated the Countertop Intelligence Agency. From the beginning, when I communicated with this person, I could tell they were annoyed when I asked what materials they use and what options they offer. It felt like this person just wanted to sell me something quickly. Well, that's not how it works when you're spending a few thousand dollars on countertops and backsplash. These are basic questions. I guess I'll have to put my money somewhere else. Sad, because they seem to do a good job and most people seem happy with them.
