I live on the first floor, so I have beautiful vinyl flooring throughout, except in my bedroom. There is so much green space that looking out from my patio seems like I am in a house with a yard. And the staff--so friendly even in these COVID times. They knew me by name and have always been prompt if I need something fixed. I honestly do not think that you could find a better place to live or raise a family. Plus, there is a wonderful school nearby and the public library is within walking distance! Very close to Meijer and about 15 minutes to Purdue University. Add the pool and great exercise room--can't beat living here!

Dummy accounts providing information about my time there, and private emails to them, began publishing this information online. My daughter's experience as a tenant there was nothing short of a nightmare due to Verve's negligence, discriminatory practices, and retaliatory actions. Here's what happened: Ignored Complaints About Unsafe Living Conditions: My daughter's roommate had her boyfriend effectively living in the apartment, violating the lease and making the living situation uncomfortable. Despite multiple complaints to Verve Management, they did absolutely nothing to address this issue. False Accusations Taken at Face Value: After a dispute over shared resources, her roommate filed a false police report claiming my daughter had poisoned her milk. The milk in question had been locked in a private refrigerator in my daughter's room for nearly a month before the alleged incident! Even after the District Attorney cleared my daughter of all charges, Verve continued to rely on the roommate's unverified claims. Retaliatory Eviction Threats: Verve issued an eviction notice based on the false allegations, without conducting a proper investigation or allowing my daughter to defend herself. They acted as judge, jury, and executioner, treating her as guilty until proven innocent. Financial and Emotional Damages: Verve's mishandling of the situation forced my daughter to vacate prematurely, leading to: - Storage fees for months of May, June, July, and part of August. - continued liability for lease payment through July despite vacating the first week of May due to Verve's unwillingness to mitigate continued threats from the old Roomate and threats of additional relations. - The stress and cost of moving twice due to their failure to create a safe living environment. Discriminatory Practices: While Verve was quick to act on false accusations against my daughter, they ignored repeated lease violations by her roommate and even relocated the roommate to another unit after the situation escalated. The new roommate also experienced similar issues and reported them, but Verve again took no meaningful action. Lack of Accountability: Verve only acknowledged their error months later, in February, after I spent a month providing evidence to prove my daughter's innocence. This ordeal wasted countless hours of my time and caused significant emotional distress for my daughter. Final Thoughts: Verve Apartments is poorly managed, unresponsive to tenant concerns, and quick to retaliate in unfair and discriminatory ways. If you value your time, money, and mental health, look elsewhere. There are plenty of other student housing options that won't treat their tenants like this. I documented nearly everything with photos, videos, emails, and maintenance requests because the problems were so persistent. The building itself was in terrible condition. The supposedly locked front entrance regularly had homeless people inside the lobby. Residents would prop the front door open with rocks in the middle of the night, defeating any security. The parking garage and security gate were broken for extended periods multiple times. Trash constantly overflowed in the lobby, abandoned packages sat untouched for months, and the hallways frequently smelled like rotten food and dirty floors. My apartment wasn't properly prepared before I moved in. It had clearly not been cleaned or inspected, despite my lease stating there would be a move-in inspection signed by both the landlord and tenant. I was never given that inspection document and didn't even know it existed until move-in day. The balcony was covered with mold and bug nests. I requested it be cleaned multiple times and was repeatedly told it had to wait until spring. Spring came and went, and nothing was done. Maintenance was consistently slow. Small repairs often took weeks. I specifically requested that maintenance notify me before arriving later in the day because I work night shifts and sleep during normal business hours. They ignored that request. One day they woke me around 2:00 PM for a dishwasher issue I'd reported over two weeks earlier. Their "repair" was handing me a bottle of dishwasher soap. Management waited until less than a week before the deadline to claim my notice was "invalid" because they had supposedly been "diligently" working on it. On the final day of my lease, I stopped by before returning my keys. Suddenly there was a brand-new A/C unit waiting to be installed. The walls smelled freshly painted, the balcony had finally been swept, and the temporary window A/C was running. I photographed everything. After months of being told the problem had been addressed, the permanent fix conveniently appeared only after I had already moved out. I had also requested a final walkthrough after spending two full weekends cleaning the apartment. I took photos and videos showing it was left cleaner than when I received it. The coffee in the main area became cheap exotic Great Value brand flavors that no one would actually drink (sat for months). The trash compactor breaks...and stinks in summer. The parking lot and shared indoor areas are not kept clean. Poop once sat outside of the back entrance for weeks. They got caught charging tenants different rates for electricity (!). They left one of our neighbors' heat broken for months during winter. Left someone else's AC broken during hot months. They act like richards when you ask them to do their job and they do the bare minimum (i.e. least expensive thing) to temporarily fix issues knowing full well it will just break again. They do shady ish with leases too, so be careful. And they had the audacity to raise the rent despite all of the above. A horrible lazy, cheap group trying to maximize profits at their tenants' expense. Can't wait to hear about baby's first lawsuit. Would love that for them! P.s.
