Southgate Cleaners is located in the same plaza as Dollar Tree, Auto Zone and Jack In The Box, specifically next door to Fluffy & Floyd Pet Supply with plenty of parking. My husband and I came by here to do some laundry while we are visiting since the Airbnb we are staying at does not have that offered for us. We came in at 12:40 pm and it wasn't busy. We ended up doing one load of laundry in the washer and then separated our load into 2 dryers to get our laundry to dry faster. Washers here (the brand Speed Queen) cost $6 and some cost $7. Our washer (that we paid $6) took 23 minutes. The dryer cost $0.25 for 5 minutes. We ended up doing one load for 25 minutes and another for 30 minutes. While we waited for our laundry to be dine, we just sat at this laundromat. There is one folding table and 3 plastic chairs. The restroom was closed during our visit with a note for patrons to try to use the restroom at the other businesses in the plaza. The place was clean and the washer and 2 dryers we used worked. Do not use this place to clean your own clothes. They have no restroom and half the machines do not work. It's not a place to save either. For what you pay out to wash your clothes is not worth the time or effort. The place is a HOLE. read more

There's not a lower rating than one star so one star is all it gets. 9 washer machines out of 27 were out of order and 5 out of 18 dryers were also out of order. The floor is a super old linoleum tile and its grimy and the floor mats are torn or broken. The ceiling vent in the middle of the store has dust and old cobwebbed dangling bits of yuck. The bathroom seemed acceptably clean but there is no hand soap or paper towels. It's clear the owners have let this place go. One would not expect a business in Tumwater to be this rundown. I came here with my daughter at 4:30 or so and the heating must be off or nonexistent because its nominally warmer inside than out. Please for the love of all that you hold valuable, do not bring your clothes here. You deserve better. Take your hard earned money to a business that values you by keeping the place clean, warm and the equipment working. If you must come here try to use the bathroom at the other business within the shopping center. Also, remember to either have cash ready or bring your own coins. The surrounding business will not do cash back and there's not one cash machine within safe walking distance. But seriously just don't come here! read more

Sadly, I can't dispute any of the negatives that have been said about machines in constant disrepair and the place being quite rundown. However, I had such a positive experience here this weekend that I feel it warrants giving this place a boost. My boyfriend and I did our laundry here on Saturday and, let's just chalk it up to low blood sugar, somehow forgot an entire machine's worth of laundry. We didn't realize it until we got home and didn't have our pillowcases... thankfully Southgate is open until 9pm, so we rushed down here to see if our stuff was still in the machine. Nothing. Not in the washers. Not in the dryers. Not on the counters. The cleaning lady was there and she didn't seem to know anything about it. I was pretty upset because this would mean having to replace quite a few items from my wardrobe. I decided I'd call in the morning. Sunday: I realized pretty quickly the dry cleaner (where the attendant (owner?) works) was most likely closed on Sundays. Lightweight panic sets in, as I had already read the Yelp reviews claiming that the cleaning lady throws out left behind items the same day. Monday: I call. No answer. I decide to drive over to ask. The attendant (owner?) is there. I don't even get through my story before he reaches down, picks up a bag full of laundry and hands it to me. He then offered to give me the money back so that I could run the load again! (It turns out we'd left the laundry in the washer...) Such SOLID customer service. Way more than I expected! I was so relieved. (Thank you!) So, sure, it's not pretty. And, yes, the same machines are ALWAYS out of order (make sure to pay attention to which dryer you're feeding coins into) BUT it's a laundromat. I always encounter interesting people and the place serves its purpose. read more

This is the dirtiest laundromat I have ever been too. I usually bring my own wipes to clean off the handles on the washers and dryers before I use them. Because let's face it, hands are filthy. (Ok, maybe I'm a touch of a germaphobe.) By the time I had done one handle my wipe was black. That prompted me to take closer look at the machines. They are dirty. Layers of dirt inside the dryer doors and stuff stuck inside them. Gum or something. Stuff they should notice and scrap off while they're cleaning the machines. I don't know about you, but I don't want someone else's gum in the dryer with my clothes. The washers are just as bad. There is always loose dirt hanging around inside them, and let's not forget that there is usually other peoples clothes too. Now I'm not going in at night after they've had a busy day. I go in when they open in the morning at 7:00. It's just a dirty place and I will never go back. I gave it a fair shake too. I went in there three times. If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible. Machines are never maintenanced and most of them don't work. Our washer stopped working and we desperately needed clean clothes, so my husband brought our laundry here. First of all, half the washers were tagged out of order. Even worse, the one he did choose didn't spin the clothes so the clothes were soaking wet! He put them in the dryer so that he wouldn't have to transport soaking wet clothes in the car...But the ONE dryer that worked did not heat up...at all. Finally he got fed up and spoke to the employee to ask for a refund since none of the machines worked properly...the employee refused and threatened to call the police!!!! Seriously?!?! This place needs to go out of business. Plain and simple. I realize laundromats aren't as necessary anymore but it's nice to have one in the neighborhood when you need it in an emergency. Our septic is shot, having to laundry here at the moment. Its a basic laundromat, nothing fancy. Some chairs to sit in while you wait. You could buy soap there if you needed it too. Yes the machines are bigger then your typical home machine but $5.50 a load is a little pricey but you gotta do what you gotta do. We'll be doing our laundry here for the next couple of weeks. read more

Easy, inexpensive, and convenient dry cleaners. I have been using these guys for my dry cleaning needs (shirts, suits, the occasional duvet) for a little over two years. Every time they are prompt, have never missed a deadline, and not once have my clothes been damaged. I switched to this place because I lost several brand new shirts to Howard's "natural" process and after trying to get replacement for a few months, I gave up and moved to a closer service. I could not be happier with the results and the service. I don't use their laundromat but I notice they have an actual laundry service complete with folding for a very good price. If I did not have machines in my home I would definitely consider using that service as I know from previous experience it can be a real time saver. I would give five stars but they do not have a drop off/bag drop or pick up service. read more

Had a load of laundry to do and didn't feel like driving over to my normal laundromat. So, I went here. The place was a little grungy, and the quarter machine was out of order. The machines were a little more expensive than other places but, nonetheless, it got the job done. While I didn't have a great experience, my clothes ended up clean and that was all that mattered. read more

This is your run of the mill grimy, flea-infested laundromat. The price at the time of the review was $3.50 per load to wash and a dollar for 24 minutes of drying. In my experience, that's pretty expensive. Perhaps just inconvenient timing, but the toilet was clogged pretty well... that didn't seem to stop anyone from using it though. Despite the cost, I bit the bullet to get the laundry done. I decided to sit and wait on the couch. Oops. After about 10 minutes, I look down and had a flea crawling on me. So that was nice. This place is run down, dirty, 90% of what is here is out of order or out of product. Restroom is always closed. Quarter machines are almost always empty. The owner is extremely rude and unreliable. Don't waste your time. There has got to be somewhere in the area that's worth the drive. read more

I've used this place for over 2 years only because they have a big dryer. The last that cleans starts cleaning hours before it closes making it very hard to get your laundry done. Yes.. Its true...most of the machines are out of order and are not in great working order. The last also throws away clothes of you leave them....even before closing...I know this cause I watched her throw away a beautiful blanket...right out of the dryer just cause it sat there for a while. Last week my teenager was supposed to help me get laundry out of the machines and he forgot to get our whites and when I tried to get to the back to check washers....the last working there has it blocked off......she is always in the way when there's not much space to walk as it is. We lost all our white towels, my sons mattress cover and misc other stuff cause they throw your Clothes away! The same day! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! There's no star low enough! Someone needs to fix the machines, fix up the place and it would probably make money...oh and hire some new people! I'm only picking 1 star cause I have to pick read more

I am unsure how the laundromat is even still in business. Only a quarter of the washing machines did not have an "OUT OF ORDER" sign and a percentage that didn't have a sign were MISSING the door! About half the dryers were out of order as well. The change machine was in perfect working order thankfully. They do have a couch for you to sit on if you dare as it is FILTHY as well as the whole facility!! DISGUSTING!! I will travel to the laundromat in Lacey next time I need to use one. read more
