A Wonderful Night at the Marion Palace Theatre…read more As a veteran, I'm a member of Vet Tix, an organization that gives veterans the opportunity to receive free or discounted tickets to events through tickets donated by venues and organizations. I was fortunate enough to receive tickets to see Avenue Q at the Marion Palace Theatre, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable evening. When we arrived, parking was easy, with free parking available behind the theater. We picked up our tickets at Will Call and headed inside. First, the seats were great. We were on the main floor, left side, Row F, Seats 7 and 8, with a very good view of the stage. The Marion Palace Theatre itself is beautiful. This is an old-school theater with tons of character. The ornate carvings, detailed architecture, and crushed velvet curtains really give the place a classic theater feel. It's the kind of venue where the building itself becomes part of the experience. The lobby also has a snack counter where you can get popcorn, candy, and drinks. There's even a bar set up in the lobby if you'd like to enjoy a drink before the show or during intermission. Because this is an older theater, the seats are on the smaller side, and the backs don't have a lot of padding. They're certainly not modern stadium-style seats, but they were perfectly acceptable for the performance. My only real complaint was the men's restroom. It is extremely small, with only three urinals that are positioned very close together. There isn't much privacy, and honestly, they felt almost too close together. Other than that, we had a great experience. I'm grateful to Vet Tix and the Marion Palace Theatre for giving veterans opportunities like this. I would definitely recommend checking out the Marion Palace Theatre if there's a show you'd like to see. Between the beautiful historic atmosphere, convenient parking, concessions, bar, and quality entertainment, it's a great place to spend an evening.

They just put all the prices together. So if you want say pretzel bites, then those pretzel bites are around $6.50 or if you want candy and soda together with them it's about $20. We went to see the movie goat. The surround sound and the view from the middle of the theater was great! The bathrooms were pretty tidy. The parking lot had enough room for everyone. One of the best finds was a Photo Booth that had a printout with goat themed multi picture view as a souvenir you can get. The Photo Booth takes credit cards or exact change cash. It's $8

So I got my cake mixing bowl and headed to this location. Most theatres have $5 fill up any bowl/purse/bookbag, or Lowe's bucket you have. The staff was great about it and even wanted to fill up the bag I had the bowl in. LOL! I got there in a flash, as the traffic was not that bad and parking was ample. I was happy to get there early enough for an hour to chill before the next showing, and I just played on my phone, and people watched for 50 mins, but they had arcade games if you got kiddos. I had a great seat for the show, but there was a guy who smelled like an ashtray, and I was like, LORD, I am the only one over here in row E. This was something that I should addressed and moved somewhere else. Next time. My ticket was free, so I could not complain too much. Sent was comfy, and the acoustics were great! 4 stars!

I feel the owners had good intentions when they purchased the building. But the current state of the theatre has shown that their heart in the venture was short lived. Anyone who grew up in Mount Gilead and went to the Capitol Theatre as a kid, remember a guy named "Buck". Always ensuring to straighten out anyone who got out of line while the feature film was being played. He would be rolling in his grave if he knew the theatre that he invested so much of his life to, was reduced to the current state that it currently finds itself. Employees are rude and find it funny to make side bar comments to one another of theatre patrons. Please be advised that the, "you get what you pay for", words of wisdom, hold very true to this establishment.

I was here on a Friday afternoon to see Wicked. Purposefully choosing a theater showing time…read morebefore kids would be out of school and for which few tickets were sold. I had heard that people in theaters were singing along loudly to the music and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I also didn't want to sit near anyone so I wasn't distracted. I liked being able to see the status of seating and tickets sales online and the ability to buy my ticket that way - but wasn't too happy about the service charge I had to pay to do so. Anyways, I got to the theater a few minutes before the posted start time. I waited at the ticket window only to find out that I could go right up to the ticket taker and they would scan my e ticket. Lesson learned. When I got to the theater, I was the ONLY person there. PERFECT. Unfortunately, a bunch of ladies came in right before the previews started and talked loudly through the entire preview screening. I guess that OK as I wasn't watching the previews - I just kept playing on my phone until the movie started. Once the movie started, they shut up and kept quiet the whole time. For those that don't know - Wicked (part 1) is 2 hours and 40 minutes run time - plus the previews. I have a chronic hamstring issue and quickly found out that these seats were not good for that pain. I spent the WHOLE time squirming and readjusting my sitting position as I never found a good way to sit. Yet another reason no one was sitting near me as I would have drove them nuts. In the future, I don't know if I'd come to see a movie here again. I know that Crosswoods has leather recliners and I am able to sit comfortably in them. I had considered seeing Wicked there - but there times/seating was not attractive. The movie experience itself was great. No complaints about picture or sound. The movie kept me engaged and I only thought about how long I'd been there a couple times and was tempted to check my watch - but I did not. However, by the time the movie ended, I was about at the end of my attention span and ability to sit any longer. The e ticket option - now that I know that I can skip to the ticket taker - is quite convenient. Parking was good at that time of day but I know it can be challenging for more popular show times. Food and drink prices are insane so I brought my own bottle on Diet Mt Dew in. Restrooms were good and I somehow managed not to have to use the facilities during the movie - but I sure needed it as soon as the movie was over. Again - location good. I find it easier to manage than going to Easton Town center which is equally near my house. So if you're looking for a nice, casual movie theater with no bells or whistles in seating, this is your place. It just might not be the place for me again, unless somehow my hamstring magically heals. Doubtful since it's been problematic for almost 10 years.
