Being across from the high school means this place is filled with recent grads, so steel yourself for those kinds of conversations. Some highlights include "I don't need college, I'm joining the army when I turn 18" and "for all intensive purposes..." Tiny library, although the views are acceptable if you can hunker down by a window. Adjacent to lots of cow fields, so it's really damn hot and there are tons of love bugs. Rural Florida, baby!

Over the past four years, Mr. Iglesias has repeatedly referenced my student information in ways that fall outside legitimate educational interest. On multiple occasions, he made comments about my GPA directly to my children -- an inappropriate and unprofessional disclosure of student information that no advisor should be making. This pattern demonstrates a long term disregard for boundaries and raises serious concerns about improper access to my records. In recent months, his conduct escalated dramatically. Mr. Iglesias initiated welfare checks, contacted the Department of Children and Families, and contributed to false contempt allegations in court -- all based on inaccurate information and conducted outside the college environment. These interventions had direct consequences for my family and legal matters, and they appear to have been influenced by his access to my student records and his position within the institution. When I attempted to file a formal grievance, the college minimized the seriousness of the situation. I was informed only that my student account had been "flagged" or "restricted," yet the institution refused to provide the underlying documentation, rationale, or audit trail explaining: * who accessed my records * why the flag was placed * what information was used * whether my records were disclosed outside the institution As a student, I have clear rights under FERPA to inspect and review my education records, including advising notes, account flags, restrictions, and any documentation containing personally identifiable information. The college's refusal to provide these records -- while acknowledging that my account was flagged -- raises significant concerns about improper access, misuse of information, and noncompliance with federal privacy law. My concern is straightforward: a student advisor has used his position for four years to reference, comment on, and potentially access my information for purposes unrelated to legitimate educational interest, culminating in external interventions that no advisor should be involved in. The college has not provided transparency, corrective action, or any indication that it has investigated the misuse of student information. This experience reflects a breakdown in professional ethics, student record governance, and institutional oversight. Students deserve advisors who act within the boundaries of their role, institutions that take grievances seriously, and full transparency when their records are accessed, flagged, or used in ways that affect their lives outside the classroom.

I have been a student at this campus for the last 2 semesters…read more It is much smaller than Tampa and seems to be more of a commuter campus. I love that the student body seems to be older than that of Tampa. I am 27 and when I was at Tampa campus, I was usually the oldest person in my class. Now, I am about the average age. The classes are also considerably smaller. In Tampa, I had classes with 200 other students in it. Now my biggest class had 70 and my smallest had 5. The professors are often adjunct in St Pete. This is really interesting because you have teachers who usually work and specialize in the material being taught. I feel this is much better than the grad student method of Tampa. As far as student involvement is concerned, they both have a large number of students in clubs and organizations. Many students work on the campus so things like the help desk and library are students that go there, too. There is also free tutoring that is run by students. It is an invaluable resource that is a part of your tuition. I suggest going anytime you have a question. The location is simply beautiful. It is located right on the water. There is a dock and a marina in the back of the school. Although the offices are a little hard to find, the campus is gorgeous. The staff all over campus in St Pete is MUCH more helpful and polite, though. Overall, I think St Pete suits me much better than Tampa.

It's in the heart of downtown St. Pete and has a gorgeous student center with large aquariums, comfy seating, and a cafeteria too. Upstairs they have large ballroom/conference areas great for large presentations like the film event I attended, but it can also be sectioned off into smaller portions which was what was done when I attended a guest lecture there that my professor for my Literature and Human Rights course (offered at Eckerd) highly recommended. My boyfriend now goes to USFSP to touch up his orgo-chem skills before going to grad school & his only complaint is parking; they have a large parking garage right across from campus, but it gets filled quick according to him. But he's enjoyed his professors so far and noted how small the orgo-chem labs are - only about 10 students so a great way to get hands on experience and attention.

Went to use the library computer today, and had bad experience. I needed help to print a document…read morecorrectly and was told they did not have the people there to help me. the 2 at the desk claimed to be to busy and said the one in the back was on the phone. I explained that i had set the computer to print legal size and it gave me 8 by 11. What appeared to bethe one in charge. then suggested a computer class, or I could go to another branch. I found that answer to be in the poorest taste. I have been using this library for 20 years or more. And do not appreciate discrimination. In any form.

It is actually a small library and the book selection is very limited. All the books are pretty old too. I haven't seen any new books on the shelves at all. The staff is a mix. Most of the people working there are very nice but there is this one older lady that is kind of rude and dismissive. Overall, very convenient location but definitely a couple homeless people loitering around the parking lot and inside. I even saw a homeless guy sleeping inside the library once! Books can be limiting as well.

The book clubs have challenged me as a reader and expanded my mind with different genres and writing styles. I will say I do miss how we used to vote for the books as opposed to staff choice every month. This is also a great spot to sit and read, catch up with friends or get some work done. The chairs inside were upgraded this year and are much more comfortable, making this a great spot to spend a few hours.
