This park is good for 3 things:…read more #1 - Launching a boat. # 2 - Watching the sunset. Windjammer has the best view on the peninsula but Pitcairn has some pretty decent spots. There are a few platform bench areas and some other benches scattered near the water, not to mention the dock itself. # 3 - In the summertime, if you are a teenager, this seems to be the place to be. The docks are normally infested with groups of teens swimming, tanning and imbibing in underage activities. But no hate and no shade. ** Honorable mention goes to fishing. My husband will come here every few weeks to get the line wet. He has yet to catch anything memorable but the ambience makes it worthwhile. There is also a very sparse play structure, some picnic tables and a restroom. We've renamed it the "murder bathroom" because it's dank and nasty. It's worth mentioning a Tega Cay sticker is required to park here.

There is a large fenced-in area with playground and benches. The playground has swing sets and a climbing frame with slides. There's a soft base. Adjacent to the playground, there is a picnic shelter with a grill, basketball court and a separate tennis court. All are in quite decent condition. I've visited this lake for years...starting with when my son was a toddler. We had picnics by the lake, where you can see many birds, like Ducks and Geese (and possibly even Swans in the past...but can't recall?)! Not sure if it was prohibited back then, but I remember feeding these birds. Quite the scene with the massive number of birds here! Anyway, fast forward several years to now, we've hit this area primarily for walking...initially with my husband or a friend. Recently, we even took Sheebs, a pitbull puppy that lives next door. We consider ourselves Aunt and Uncle to Sheebs...and she's quite the active pup, so she loves the walk. We normally walk on Riverview Trails, but we took her to this WInthrop Lake area...and she seemed to love it as well. In a way, I thought it was better for a wild puppy like her...because the walking path here is much wider...and although there are leashed dogs on walks, there aren't as many as Riverwalk Trails. Anyway, for years, we've thoroughly enjoyed this lake and its surrounding walking path...and I felt I should give it some just due.

With school starting soon I decided to take a small road trip to SC with my handsome now 8yr old son, I promised to take him to a botanical garden and decided on this place. I'm so happy we came here, the drive wasn't that bad and with us being new to the Carolinas it was nice to take the scenic route and take in all the beauty! When we arrived we immediately followed the path and got lost in the beauty and wonder of this garden. The ponds filled with life, the creeks, waterfalls, plants and trees, they had a memorial garden dedicated to those that serve/served, it was all so lovely. Gorgeous walking paths that make you feel like you are in an enchanted forest. Words and photos can not express the beauty this place holds. I can't wait to come here during the springtime. I think we'll add this to our list of places to go for walks and even picnics. It was really hot when we went, so I'd love to come during the fall or when it's cooler to just stay a while longer and really take in every inch of this place. I hope I did good at capturing at least a fraction of the beauty!

There is a lot to see between the river, trees, birds, and other trail visitors. Super easy to park around the businesses near the Pumphouse and then set off. As we were coming back, there were people putting kayaks into the water, also some folks in the water doing some fishing. Overall a great option for getting out into nature. Everything is paved and there some some well maintained wooden bridges to cross. Wide enough for two way traffic and benches a lot the way for breaks.

We pack a little picnic, comfy folding chairs, and purchase delightful adult beverages from the Canteen. I recently tried the goat yoga class ( see website for dates, limited). I laughed so hard nearly the entire class. Arrive early and they will let you hold a baby or just pet little goats until class starts. Yoga class itself was not too serious- do what you can, stretch yourself to your own comfort level, and enjoy being in nature with baby goats. New Moon Flower Farm provided the baby goats and the yoga instructor was from Tega Cay. Kids participated too, and the energy of the young was infectious.

I've been to this park many times over the recent years but this evening was special because my Grand was performing in the town Christmas show Choir after the Tree Lighting. The Town did such a great job adding the 2,400 square foot Amphitheater, it's a great design and a needed addition to the growing Town of Fort Mill. It's a town tradition along with the parade. They close down main street making it walkable for all the local business'. We're living in the 'post-COVID' world and it feels so good to see all the residents and hundreds of families out celebrating the season and just being together. There was so much laughter, so many smiles and it was clear to me we as a community, a town and a nation are feeling happier and more optimistic.

I lucked up on a parking space right off the green but this place definitely needs more dedicated parking. The amphitheater is nicely located at one end of the green and away from the playground. This allowed ppl to setup their chairs and tents by the stage and families to be closer to the park area so their kids could play. The addition of bathrooms is super nice and the accommodations are great. This event included food trucks and a beer tent. You had to purchase tickets to buy beer but the ticket tent was right next to the beer tent. Can't wait for the next concert and to hopefully entice the family to come out too.
