They came over to my apartment and set up for dinner, great food, nice mix of options. Happy servers... can't ask for any better.

I've had some fantastic meals from this place in the past, so I was really looking forward to my…read morerecent order. While there were definitely highlights, I found myself a bit disappointed as well. First off, the ribs were a standout in terms of taste; they were tender and flavorful, literally falling off the bone. However, they arrived in a pizza box, sitting on foil, and were ice cold. I believe they would have retained more warmth if they had been wrapped in foil or placed in a proper takeout dish. Given that it was only a half rack, it should have fit comfortably. On the brighter side, the mashed potatoes and gravy were as delightful as always. Every time I order them, they're consistently delicious. The turkey and roast beef platters were also warm and tasty, which I appreciated. However, I couldn't shake the feeling of being misled by the portion sizes. It seemed like they were trying to create an illusion of abundance by stuffing four slices of bread under the meat. This wasn't just the case with the turkey platter; the same trick was used for the roast beef platter. When I ordered, I explicitly declined the bread option, thinking I was getting a straightforward platter, not an open-faced sandwich. Instead of a generous serving, I felt like I received less meat than I expected, masked by the hidden bread. So, while I enjoyed the flavors, I can't ignore the feeling of being a bit deceived. I'm left uncertain about my next order. Perhaps I'll reach out to them directly to discuss my experience. I understand that times are tough, and the costs of ingredients, especially meat, can be challenging, but I can't help but feel a bit fooled and/or misled by all the slices of bread under both the Turkey & Roast Beef meat (4/5 slices under each pile of meat, for each platter! Please see the evidence in the pictures I uploaded) I cannot comment on the ambience because I had my food delivered to me!

For my dinner, I ordered the Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie. Talk about heavenly. The lobster veloute' tasted sweet and savory. The pot pie came with chopped potatoes, crawfish, pieces of fish, sweet corn, carrots and celery. The pot pie came with an arugula side salad with some cheese. I felt so honored to have eaten this pot pie. The creole buttery puff tasted terrific. Joseph ordered the rib eye. The ribs came with a side of risotto and molasses baked beans. He said he liked the food. Andrew our server did a fantastic job of making us feel welcomed. He got an A+ for service and communicated to us about the status of our order. Talk about being serviceable, near the back, customers could go to the bar. While in Ithaca, come to Creola Southern Steakhouse. Bring friends, family, or a date.

Everything was very delicious. I want to come back soon to try some of their blackened fish entrees. Def recommend!

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.
