Some places are just somewhere to eat. Twigs isn't. We've stopped there five times now. It's a bit of a haul from Elmira, but whenever we're driving through Tunkhannock and they're open, we stop. At this point it's become part of the trip. The funny part is that I'm usually the one who orders something different every time we go to a restaurant. My husband is the creature of habit. At Twigs, we switch roles. He tries a different wrap or burger every visit. I don't even look at the menu anymore. The 501 Salad with rare steak and extra champagne dressing has ruined me for everything else. I know exactly what's coming, and I don't want anything different. It starts with a pear raspberry martini that tastes better than it has any right to. If someone could bottle summer without making it sweet or syrupy, this would be it. Then the salad shows up, and somewhere between the steak and the dressing you stop thinking about what else you could have ordered. By the time you've cleaned the plate, dessert feels unnecessary. Not because you're full. Because the meal already gave you what dessert is supposed to. A good restaurant makes good food. A great one makes you look forward to the drive. Twigs does that. read more

Pistachio Pistachio Pistachio. Yes Pistachio encrusted Filet. Do I really need to say anything else. Delicious yes. Good service yes. Cool and comfy spot, yes. Has the house salad with a champagne vinaigrette. Also yummy nummy. Stayed away from dessert have to watch that sugar intake. Plus the pistachio sauce had a sweetness so my entree was also my dessert. Woo hoo!! If I ever make it back that way I'll definitely have another stop through! read more

Saw Google's review for this place, claims "They Highlight fair prices - & provide 'caring' service". What?!! I'm still laughing at those two huge lies, after my wife & I experienced the most arrogant smug gouging restaurant rip-off act we saw in years. So thought we'd try this place again after we liked their Fish & Chips dinner 'bout a year ago, which was ~$15 dollars. The place was nearly empty despite above average temps on a Saturday w/ about 2 tables occupied. Waitress was very nice & we ordered the exact same Fish meal even though the price on the menu was a shocking near 40% higher @ $22, which you can see on Twig's website. (I'm thinking am I in Maine ordering Lobster?) Both meals come w/ 2 beer battered fish, small 1/2 cup of coleslaw & about 10 french fries. Meal was served & fish was very good white fish. Asked waitress for some Tabasco sauce which 95% of restaurants naturally accommodate, she replied saying they have another hot sauce & I said OK. She brought out a small metal tin of a few spoons of some kind of red sauce, never saying what it was. After tasting it was just like Red Hot sauce, the low-priced salty product sold in big bottles. Cole slaw was excellent, the few fries on the plate were rather thin. So though the actual fish was good, the deep fried batter was very thin yet extremely hard to bite through - like trying to bit thru plasticized resin like Formica, the hard countertop mat'l. How on earth does beer, egg, & flour get so hard just from frying, like it was fried @ 600 deg's. Not wanting to waste our half-a-$100, we struggled w/ the rock-hard peanut brittle-like batter. Waitress never asked if we wanted more water (didn't order drinks - we don't like sugar & I don't drink alcohol while driving), later she brought our check. Glanced at it & the $50 total seemed high, then I saw she charged $23 per meal, ~5% higher than as stated on their menu! Inflation is so rampant in Tunkhannock that food is rising 5% per hour?! More outrageous, they had the sheer cheap-audacity to charge 90 cents(!) for a couple teaspoons of hot sauce, while all other restaurants simple throw a big bottle of a known brand on the table!! How abusive, & waitress of course never told us we'd be charged an extortion fee per teaspoon of hot sauce! They no longer have salt/pepper on the tables: what's next, gonna charge per grain of salt or flakes of pepper? No wonder the restaurant was empty in prime weekend time. So I couldn't wait to ask the waitress Why the menu clearly says $22 for fish meal but we get charged $23. She answered in a bizarre fashion, with a blank look saying "Ehh, what?, jee, I have no idea (of course) - the menu says $22???!" I replied yes, it does. She continued the clueless routine as if it was her first day of employment at Twigs & he boss hadn't yet showed her the menu, or didn't know they had a menu. Make no mistake: I'm anything but cheap. I spend big $$ on business class flights, expensive coffee beans, etc. But there's one thing I Do Not tolerate is Lies & Fraud, including false advertising & fraudulent menu prices. Twig's arrogance charging an xtra secret $1.00 extortion tax just to sprinkle a Tblsp of hot sauce on your food is despicable - how dare I want to enjoy a teaspoon of hot sauce on my fish in America! What's next - they'll measure the total oxygen we breath in their building & charge us by the molecule? The good news is after we walked out, Thank God we NEVER have to be abused by their cut-throat fraudulent menu prices nor be taxed for simple condiments even fast food restaurants provide for Free! Will never give them another chance to lie to fraud us. How sad Tunkhannock has declined since the pre-Fracking days. The Fracker's promised to turn Tunkhannock into an economic powerhouse like never before seen by mankind; instead it's a food desert & you have to pack a lunch when you go there cause wonderful Gabel's Bakery is long gone and the only 'food' choices are Dunkin Donuts at one end & McDonald's at the other, both of which are sadly much better choices than the fake menu Extortion Palace they call Twigs. The place is actually very great, esthetic wise. Friendly service. Great for groups or dinner dates. They do have a quite large seating area. Yet, they sat us all in one corner. It was the funniest thing. The food was very good, except it was on a bit on the saltier side. No matter what we ate, it was a bit saltier than normal. Fries, sweet potato fries, pork tacos, edamame dumplings all were heavy on the saltier side. read more

A pomegranate martini and a local Nimble Hill IPA that paired well with our lunch. Our waitress was professional and the service as a whole was spot on. This is our go to place when we are in the area. I love the atmosphere. The place is uniquely decorated. We always get the calamari and again, it was as good as the first time we got it years ago. Vegetable potstickers were good. We were here for lunch service. This place filled up quickly. My kid got the just Mac and cheese and there was enough Mac and cheese to feed a family of four. It looked like it was just dumped on a plate and it had some kind of tang to it. She didn't like it and I didn't care for it either. The coleslaw was good. Husband got a burger and he ate all of it. I got the Buddha bowl with Thai sauce and it was not my favorite and I love Thai food. My husband's favorite dish was the fish almondine which they no longer serve. I really want to love this place again. I'll have to try their other options. I do like that the menu keeps changing. It's cute and in a cute area. Cash is king here but they take credit with surcharge. I do appreciate the vegetarian options on the menu. My only other complaint is that the atmosphere is very dark. I hate that I have to whip out my phone to read the menu. I will try this place again next time we are in the area. read more

Haven't eaten inside the restaurant so I can't comment on how the dine in experience is but we've ordered take out from there twice and both times were amazing. Their food is great and they really have something that everyone would like. Lots of options to choose from. They are on the pricier side but honestly it's worth it. We were near Scranton looking for lodging and dinner and saw the town of TUNKHANNOCK and instinct kicked in and I knew an adventure was waiting. Hotel clerk suggested a different restaurant but on the way spotted this charming spot on a corner in the village. A few outside tables, a fun quirky bar and a nicely decorated dining room. Got to see several diners with great looking appetizers, drinks and mains. Our service was prompt, personable and professional by the entertaining Tiffany. She guided us to the menu items she felt would fit our expressed preferences. Crab bisque, haddock, salads and corned beef were all excellent. Local draft beer featured was delightful. We were so excited for Twigs to be open for pick up. Very easy to do. My husband had the meatloaf dinner. 2 large slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy on the side. He really enjoyed it. My daughter ordered the Impossible burger , also delicious. We ordered the onion petals, but received onion rings. They were a bit greasy. I ordered the French Onion soup. Very salty. I added some veggie stock and it was delicious. A suggestion for take out, package the bread croutons and the cheese on the side to be assembled at home. It's not easy to find dog-friendly outside dining in the area. Twigs is all that and good food, too. Staff is friendly and helpful and always brought us a bowl of water and a friendly word for the dog. The menu isn't small, but it isn't overwhelming, either. The choices are a cut above the standard fare and there are plenty of options I can't wait to go back and try. Last time I had the Maine's Scampi and I wish I'd had room for more. First time here. Came for our sons birthday. Service was slow, food was slow. Crab bisque was odd and bland, Cesar salad was good. Homemade dressing. Anchovies were a plus. Salad came out before the soup. Appetizer was Buffalo cauliflower. Very very small portion. Tater tots (truffle) good portion but very greasy and too much truffle oil. Wife liked the twigs pasta. We were blessed to get our 82 year old Mom, with Alzheimer's, out for her birthday. Thank you for telling us to sit anywhere and then asking us to cut our dessert time short so you could seat a party of 12. Horrible service. So sad. It was embarrassing. I'm more than disappointed with the response we received from the owner. This wasn't our "opinion", it is what happened. It was not a perception. It happened. We were 5 minutes from leaving, just finishing up our tea/coffee. I agree we were offered to move to the bar and given a free drink. As the manager was speaking to us the party of 12 surrounded our table. What happened next was our mother became confused and agitated. This happens with Alzheimer's. She didn't understand what was happening. I've never had something like this happen, ever. We weren't lingering. We weren't disruptive. We didn't complain. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert. We ate them as they were served. We were just finishing up our coffee/tea. The response received was defensive and a poor showing of service standards from this establishment and the owner. This is not what we had hoped for and beyond disappointed with the response. Listen to your customers. They aren't always wrong. Learn from the feedback. Try to make it right. Someone else mentioned you were "resting on your laurels" and I think they were right. Presentation was out of the 90's where they dash the entire plate with dices parsley rather than having a clean presentation. Whenever I am in town, this is the spot. It's a cozy place with great service and huge portions. I have never left without a doggy bag! We always start off with the boneless wings - one order of mild, one order of hot. They go quickly because they are delicious! For dinner, I really enjoy the chicken carbonara and the chicken parm. They have a really fun drink selection and various local beers. I definitely recommend grabbing a bite here. read more

Unexpected gem in Tunkhannock! The name "cafe" almost threw us off because we were looking for a nice place for a special dinner but Twigs has a range of cafe meals (and prices) to fine dining entrées. It was delicious! I would give this restaurant 1/2 a star if possible. This was the worst and most disconcerting restaurant experience I have ever had. We took a chance and stopped in on a Sunday of Mother's Day after going to the Deiterich Theatre to see a wonderful movie. The place was hopping but they said they had room for pour party of five and managed to seat us at a table in the center of the restaurant after 10 minutes. We had menus and the food selection and drinks looked fantastic. Ten minutes went by. We were chatting and didn't think to much of it. Then 20 minutes. No wait staff stopped at our table. No water. Nothing. After 40 minutes with no acknowledgement we left -- thirsty, hungry, and baffled by this rude and awful experience. We would never go back and never recommend this restaurant. We stopped into the Dream Mexican restaurant down the street. Had a wonderful experience and great food. Eat there instead. read more
