We were taking our year old German shepherd in for a pre-neuter appointment. On our way to Southwest, Jack fell out of our truck and had a compound fractured leg. We called the clinic to let them know what had happened. When we reached the clinic the staff and Dr. Sarah were on it and took him in for x-rays and gave us the news. They called and made a referral for Jack's surgery quickly. Through the whole process they took wonderful care of Jack. They also took their time to make sure we were doing well. I am so thankful we went to Southwest. They truly care about the animals and their families. I highly recommend Southwest. read more

If had vote 1 to 10, we would vote 15. Beside manner was wonderful and caring. Took excellent care of not just COCO our dog but us too. We ended up having to put her to sleep and he gently explained how she gets a shot to help her with the transition. I would definitely consider them our new vet even though 20 minutes from Lawton. We highly recommend this establishment to anyone with needing a vet. read more

Dr. Trace came to my home to put down my much loved 8 year old pig who was one of the family. He was so compassionate and calm during the whole process that even though it was such a painful thing for us to go through, his demeanor helped immensely. It gave us confidence that my baby wasn't going through any unnecessary pain or discomfort. I saw the vet here for the first time. They asked if they could put me on hold, which is very good phone manners. I brought in 2 dogs, both are foster dogs from the Rainbow Bridge Can Wait animal rescue. The vet took excellent care of both dogs, checked every single little thing you could imagine, made sure that the prescription for one of the dogs was sent that minute, and let me ask all the questions I wanted. I am 64 and have been taking animals to vets for many decades. This place was impressive. Very impressive. read more

Amazing vets and techs. Reasonable prices. Had a dying baby goat and a 4 month old human. They watched, played with and fed my baby for hours while I was in the room helping with the goat. Saw my baby laughing and smiling through the window the whole time. Awesome people with big hearts. It makes me sad to see a negative review for this vet. I have a diabetic cat and Dr. Trace and his wife have been amazing. They call me personally any time I have questions and it's obvious they genuinely care about the animals and that they work hard to take care of everyone. And, major perk, they do not a price gouge like so many vets! They are reasonable and fair in their pricing. With a diabetic cat, this is very important to me, because he requires consistent visits. I have had multiple times when Dr. Trace Kirkpatrick and his wife Dr. Kirkpatrick have helped me with my animals, and have helped them stay healthy and happy. They do not try and price gouge as a previous review stated. He only prescribes exactly what they need, and nothing in excess. Both of my dogs were deathly ill - one with diagnosed parvo - and they helped them make it through. Also, when I picked up a dog off the side of the road they answered my call at MIDNIGHT, and then tried to do things for him for free. I am not sure what the situation for the negative review was, but I can tell you that I would DEFINITELY recommend them a million times over. read more

We won't take our dogs anywhere else! The staff is awesome and the vets have personally called me back regarding urgent issues/questions- for example when my Boxer got into some roofing asphalt. I'm usually by myself and when one of our yard dogs refused to stand (not sick, just stubborn) once she got out of the vehicle in their parking lot the front staff came out and finally got her to come inside. Have taken our dogs in for many things over the years from checkups & tick prevention to more serious issues like injuries and have never been over charged or had them suggest anything other than what was needed. read more

Dr. Trace Kirkpatrick completely, utterly misdiagnosed my dog's problem. Even with me standing there saying "don't you think we should pull and x-ray" he said "I don't think it's necessary". He said her problem was something minor and prescribed some basic meds. When it became obvious the meds weren't working and she was not improving (after being on them 8 days) I CALLED ON A MONDAY and was told by the receptionist that he would call me back that day. HE didn't. I called the next morning and was told he was out of the office and couldn't come in for an emergency (on a Tuesday). The receptionist tried to make me an appointment for THURSDAY EVENING!!! I said "are you kidding???" and hung up. I got in to another Vet, and she diagnoses a very serious issue. I took my doggie to the big hospital in OKC and found that she had less than 72 hours to live...there was nothing they could do. I WILL NEVER go back to Southwest Vet Clinic. Dr. Kirkpatrick destroyed the last two weeks of my doggies life. She suffered needlessly because of him. While she still would not have survived had he diagnoses her correctly, the point is that she would have had proper medication to help her get through the last two weeks until I had to put her to sleep. Stick to cows. You don't know a damn thing about dogs....and you sure don't take the time to make sure that you have a correct diagnosis. read more

I took my pointer to Dr. Trace at SW Vet Clinic and it was the worst vet experience of my life after 40 years of owning fine pointing dogs. My dog was in serious trouble and Dr. Trace didn't even do what he said my dog "desperately needed." In fact they closed for a nice long lunch and left my dog to die. They gave me an IV to take home and give him myself after hours at their office. This is one of the things Dr. Trace said he "desperately needed." He told me on phone "yes" and he was "ok" when I asked if he would even be able to walk out. When I got there a nurse poured my cold and nearly dead dog into my arms and gave me the IV to take home and administer after I paid for them to do that and they left him for over 4 hours while they completely avoided treating him and went out for hour and half lunch. I detest these people. DO NOT GO HERE EVER! Update 2018: I saw all the great reviews for this place on Google and wanted to update mine here. "Doctor" Trace was not just unprofessional, he was a COMPLETE ASSHOLE TO ME AND LET MY DOG DIE SO THEY COULD ALL GO ENJOY A NICE LONG LUNCH BREAK! HE IS A PURE PUNK AS PIECE OF LYING TRASH! HE DID NOT DO ONE DAMN THING OF THE THINGS HE SAID MY FINE ROYALLY BRED FIELD TRIAL POINTER DESPERATELY NEEDED! I figured out later it appears my crazy bitch ex gf's two nephews poisoned Ranger by pouring anti-freeze in a hole on the ground where the morons threw food not ten feet out their own back door. I ended up whipping one of them choked him out until he screamed for his life, then beat the hell out of his gorilla sized uncle who came to fight me one hour later. I broke a couple of his bones and he left in an ambulance from my front yard. He was a life long bully and woman beater so it was a pleasure to hand him the beat down of his worthless life! Would have liked very much to do the same to Dr. Trace and told him so. Did not threaten to do this but just told him I'd very much love to beat his sorry ass down if I could only have the chance. Country Vet turned big city vet. Used them for over 30 years. Love Dr Q. Dr Trace and his wife were sweet in the beginning. But suddenly, couldn't fit in my very sick dog or not open on Saturday anymore for working people. Rude front desk. So I moved my animals to Dr Bower in Lawton. Wonderful caring staff and will see animal if needed without an appointment, it's not about the money. read more

I am so very thankful to Dr. Q and the staff at Southwest Vet Clinic. I know that my pets are in great hands with her. We've been there now for everything from vaccinations to having a toe amputated and many things in-between.
