Happy Hounds Dog Daycare & Boarding

Happy Hounds Dog Daycare & Boarding

I checked out a few daycare/boarding places for our 1/yo corgi girl. We had a vacation coming up,…read moreand I wanted choices of places I'd feel better about leaving my (self-diagnosed) emotional support fur baby. I found 1 other place that charged a little less for day care and boarding. Truth be told, our girl had fun for her test run play date there too. Popular place, with recommendations. I still wanted to find another. A neighbor told me about Happy Hounds. I'm glad they did, bc Happy Hounds was the best decision. First, the owner herself is extremely hands on in the business. I liked that she was there to greet the customers. In fact any time I've walked in, she's been there. Early AM or for the PM pick up. For our temperament test, we arrived during a shift change. As I watched on the lobby cameras/screens how my girl was doing for her test, I heard the staff exchanging stories of how the day went. ...Which pup was there, and their activities, moods, etc. The whole staff was clearly engaged in the convo, with clear intent to carry the information into their care. When I dropped my girl off for her staycation, I was a mess. It was new spot for her, she looked at me like "why are you leaving me?" Like a good parent, I swiftly walked out with a smile, and only lost it once I got outside and she couldn't see me. The staff was so nice about my clinginess, always gave me a swift response when I asked about my girl. That first night saying she quickly adapted, ate dinner, and fell into the routine quite well. I chose HH because they said they touched base 2x a day. And they did! At another spot we'd tried for a shorter stay, they said they would - but I had to ask and wait for a response to find out anything. But, with HH, I got a pic in the AM and PM. Every time I could see my girl was doing great and having a blast. Which every time my husband would tease, "she looks like she's having a horrible time. All smiles, and happy." I always received a little extra info on her if I asked. Never made me feel like a bug bc I asked. The more days we were away, the less I asked bc I could tell she was happy and just fine. I hesitate in telling too much about HH, because one thing I like about it is that they don't seem to have 100 dogs everyday like some of the other places we checked out. Happy Hounds made it feel like your dog would get personalized attention, and not in this large corral and a sea of furry faces so they could have more $$ per day. I liked seeing posts of days they were already full - and not trying to squeeze in more dogs just to make more money. I want my girl to get interaction, not be a number for the day. The proximity is close for us, so we've been back for day care. The easy drive up pick up and drop off is super nice for the play dates. Their center is SUPER clean. When I picked up my girl after our long vacation, my heart filled with the staff on duty swooning over my girl. She was happy to see momma (me) , but also saying her sweet goodbyes to the staff. I could tell they took care of her the same way I would have. Which is why HH will be the only place we board our corgi girl when need be.

Amberlynn from Happy Tails - A True Gem…read more We've had our fair share of petsitters, but Amberlynn from Happy Tails is something special. She's got this natural way with animals that's just amazing to see. Our puppies took to her like she was part of the pack from the get-go. It's clear they adore her, and honestly, we can see why. Amberlynn does more than just the usual feed-and-walk routine. She really gets to know our pups, giving them the kind of attention and love they need when we're not around. It's comforting to see how well they respond to her; it's like they've known her forever. What we love about Amberlynn is how down-to-earth and genuine she is. She's not just checking off a list; she's there, in the moment, with our puppies. It's that level of care and connection that makes us trust her completely, especially when we're out of town or out of the country. With her, it's not just about safety (which she's great at, by the way); it's about making our puppies feel happy and at ease. Every time we book her through Happy Tails, we know we're leaving our pups in great hands. Amberlynn's just got this way about her, a real animal whisperer. If you're looking for someone who'll love your pets as much as you do, she's your go-to. We're super grateful to have found her and Happy Tails. Amberlynn is truly one of a kind.

Main points: - cost effective (I'm a grad student so trust…read moreme on this one) - empathetic and compassionate - trustworthy - easy to fit into their schedule I adopted my first dog five days ago and the day after adopting her, she started having some issues urinating. They did everything they possibly could and treated both her and I with the most compassion and empathy. Every interaction I had with all the doctors, technicians, and receptionists over a period of four days was excellent. Turns out, it was an issue with nerves in her bladder, possibly from issues with her spay which was done at a different vet. We ended up having to euthanize her, but the doctor explained everything to me in depth and gave me options on what we could do to be most cost effective, as I'm on a pretty tight budget as a grad student. The vet and a technician stayed with me in the room and talked me and her through the whole process. I just moved to Stillwater so no family could be here with me during this difficult experience, but during that moment I felt like they were family. They treated my dog like she was their own too. They made an extremely hard moment feel a little bit calmer for both of us and for that I am so grateful and I know Pepper is too.

Every time I go to this clinic, they try to upsell me hundreds of dollars of additional services…read more In the past, I was allowed to stay focused on the actual thing that's wrong with my pet. But now it's not even an option. Want a simple Depo shot for seasonal allergies? You will have to agree to pay hundreds for extra services you absolutely don't need, or they won't help your pet! Latest example: I had previously taken my cat in for a simple Depo shot, as she gets seasonally itchy. I was told I could stop by and get the shot without paying for a full diagnostic again. (This has been an ongoing issue for several years. The Depo shot gets her through the rough patch and she's back to normal by fall). It had been over a year since the seasonal itching was a problem, so I called the receptionist first to make sure I wouldn't have to pay for additional services, since I know that happens a lot at this clinic. Receptionist checked with the doctor and assured me I could just do the Depo shot. No extra services. So on my day off, I drove over and sit outside, because they haven't allowed people to go inside the building since 2020. It's now July 2023. The tech or whomever comes outside and tells me I'll need to pay for a full diagnostic and also a rabies vax. I'm immediately annoyed because this clinic is forever pulling shenanigans like this. I tell the woman my cat has already had rabies vax and I was told we could do a simple Depo shot today, since it's a known, ongoing issue. She says she doesn't know who told me that, but I'll need the extra services. I explain that the receptionist told me that after talking with the doctor. She doesn't go to check with the receptionist. And I can't get corroboration from the receptionist or doctor because I'm now allowed inside the building! The woman insists that I'll need all of the extra services or they can't help my cat. This clinic will refuse to help your pet, unless you agree to pay hundreds of dollars for EXTRA things your pet doesn't need. I'm calling another vet today, but I'm positive that the greedy business practices of this clinic will cause pets out there to suffer as most people simply can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for services they don't need.
