I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Southwind! The waiting room is inviting and comfortable, I'm always offered a glass of water if I arrive early enough to be waiting for my appointment, and every staff member I've interacted with has been courteous and friendly. Most of my experiences, however, are with Susannah Neal. I've been a client of Susannah's for 8 years. I lived in Fort Collins until my move to Lawrence in 2007. While I was in Fort Collins, Susannah was my saving grace - I know that my health would not be where it is today if not for my longstanding relationship with her as one of my primary health-care providers. So, when I left the Fort, I tried a number of acupuncturists in Lawrence (not at Southwind) and Overland Park - unfortunately, my experiences were not positive. Instead of finding a good provider here, I ended up making sure to spend an extra day or two in Fort Collins every several months when I went to Colorado to ensure I got at least one session with Susannah while I was there. You can imagine my delight when I found out that Susannah was moving to Lawrence, Kansas! I booked an appointment with her as soon as she started practicing at Southwind, and have been going regularly since. Susannah has always been incredibly helpful, has always worked with information I've provided her from my medical doctor(s), and is completely open to discussing any concerns I might have. Unlike experiences I've had with many doctors, Susannah has never fostered an environment in which I feel dismissed or silly for asking questions, and my (countless) questions have not gone unanswered. I know Susannah is genuinely invested in helping me as her client, and in working with me to find the best approach to my health care. My other experience at Southwind has been with a massage therapist there, Todd Wyant. I injured my back and Todd added time to his schedule to get me in - on a weekend, at the last minute. This is only about my experience with Joy: Wow! I've had a couple of professional massages in my life, but I've never experienced the hands of someone with such a thorough knowledge of the body. She worked through different combinations of muscle groups, varying her pressure and speed. The effect was amazing. She clued me in to points of tension that I didn't even know existed! I could feel that many of these points were connected across my body. I'm so used to asking a friend to "rub my shoulders," or "thump on my back," I've rarely felt someone work on the whole muscle, let alone with such expertise. I'm sitting here trying to put the experience into words and I'm coming up short. So let me just say that the hour and a half on the table was magical. I left the studio a grinning lump of jello. All I could do the rest of the day was drink water and sleep (12 hours that night, I generally can't sleep more that 7.5). Joy hit the reset button on my whole body. I live in Fort Collins and had Susannah Neal treat me with acupunture and she was just fantastic! Her professional and caring attitude was outstanding and she helped me with the many medical problems I was experiencing. I experienced a lot of mentrual pain during my periods and she had me pain free with treatments and herbs. She helped me with injuries, fighting off colds and flu, etc...
