Update: Jan 8, 2019- company did call me, refunded all costs and also shipped me the plants with an apology for the problems. Brittany explained that there was some internal problem where it showed my plants had previously shipped, when they had not. I think Sow Exotic is aware of the problem and will get things resolved. The plants that shipped were healthy, strong and packed with the utmost care ---as they always have done. In fact one box was crushed by the post office and the post office put a sticker on it alerting me that they had crushed it, and the plant was still in great shape! I still have a tree that is huge from an order in 2015-16. It is fruiting daily and everyone loves it. This has been my go to shop for Tropicals...especially food plants. Past resolved concern: I have been with this company since 2015-16--they were with EtsyPast orders have been filled quickly. I placed an order in July 2019, they partially filled it. I've been waiting for 2 plants (Sapodilla & Yellow Dragon), my emails & phone calls are usually ignored. Occasionally I get a response that it's mailing out next week. I called and emailed the first week of Oct, they told me, 'next week'. In November, after several emails & a phone call, (because I understand things happen that are unexpected). They replied that an office worker had cut through their cable line, so the order would ship out next week. Still nothing. Something is going on with this company...please save your money and don't place any orders. This has been about 6 months of me patiently calling and emailing. There are a surprising number of tropical plant nurseries, if you just look. Logees has been used for decades in my plant club (gesnariads). They have potted tropical plants that can be brought indoors. TopTropicals is a Florida based nursery with everything, including great communication. I ordered three different orders. A panadal, dwarf red lady papaya tree, and a Bearss lemon tree. I tried initially to go pick up the first two twice. No one was at the nursery. I reached out to them to cancel the order. They responded and apologized saying that there had been a family emergency and wanted make it right with a gift card and to ship at their expense the first two. Okay, fine, I thought. Family emergencies happen. I used the gift card and ordered a lemon tree. I emailed back and emailed again that I understood and had placed an order. To save them costs, I would just come pick the orders all up in a week or two when they're supposed to be open. Unfortunately, here I sit in front of the gate...no one is here, it's closed, they're not answering the phone, and they don't reply to 99% of emails it seems. Ordered Toothaches plants as live in Michigan plants came 13 days came in poor condition. Have tried to contact Sow Exotic to get resolution/refund with little resolution. Plants were limp and all the leave were brown and plants have died. Followed the instructions in the resolution emails and the plants did not improve. I have purchased a Sugar Apple tree from Sow Exotic Nursery which was delivered today, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, the tree showed visible signs of poor health. Many leaves were riddled with black spots, which are commonly associated with pest infestations or fungal issues. This was an immediate red flag, as I expected a healthy tree from a nursery that claims to specialize in exotic plants. To make matters worse, several leaves had already been removed, likely to cover up or mitigate damage from pests before shipment. While I understand that minor imperfections can occur during transit, this situation clearly pointed to pre-existing issues. It's evident that the tree was not adequately inspected or treated before being sent to customers. A healthy Sugar Apple tree should have vibrant, lush green leaves, but this one arrived looking weak and stressed. The presence of pests and black spots suggests that the nursery may not have taken proper preventative measures, such as pest management or quality control. This is especially concerning given that pest infestations can spread to other plants in a home garden. While I appreciate Sow Exotic Nursery's unique selection of plants, this experience raises questions about their quality assurance practices. The condition of the tree is disappointing, particularly given the high cost often associated with sourcing rare or exotic plants. I hope Sow Exotic Nursery will take this feedback seriously and improve their plant health protocols. I would not recommend purchasing a Sugar Apple tree or any other plants from them unless they address these quality concerns. This experience has left me hesitant to order from them again, as plant health should be a top priority for any reputable nursery. I accidentally placed a first time order with this company on 5/2/2025. I had placed items in my cart with the intention to narrow down my selection to the items that I really wanted for myself and my mother for Mother's Day. Upon going to my cart to review, shop pay loaded and somehow I unintentionally clicked the purchase order button. I immediately contacted the customer service email and asked them to cancel the order, with no response. I've called the phone number with no answer, and tried to contact them using chat via their website, all with no response! Now 10 days later I'm receiving notifications from them stating that some of my plants are shipping out! First of all, I didn't want this order! Second, I leave in less than a week to go overseas for the summer, so I won't even be home to receive them. I would rate zero stars if I could. This place scams the elderly. My grandparents placed an order for a plant on 5/12, charged their card 5/14. Package was apparently delivered 5/22 with no delivery truck in sight. Once we were finally able to get ahold of them, they let us know the package was still in transit as it had to be shipped internationally. Why does something from less than 200 miles away have to be shipped internationally? It is so hard to get in contact with them for a refund. Please please stay away! read more

Do not use them for plants until they fix a major fishing issue. They have a mimic website that has US.com in the name that is stealing money and personal information. They have a serious security risk with their online shopping and web service despite it being a https. We made a purchase on the fake site where we were immediately robbed money and likely or personal information and banking information. Do not buy from them. It is likely and allegedly they have a internal issue wither it is their online services or marketing services (fake google reviews) that is the source. Great experience! I'm always a little nervous about buying plants online but I'm pleasantly surprised with my order! They used two day shipping so the plants made it across the country super quickly, and they arrived looking healthy (goji is dormant so that's why it looks like a stick lol.) The packaging is smart, they stapled them to the box so they won't roll around and smash themselves. The plant sizes are as described on the website. Ordered 3 Açaí plants, one cashew and one coconut! The cashew arrived almost dead (died the next day), the açaís arrived yellowish and died 4 days later! The only plant that arrives healthy was the coconut palm! I emailed them a few times and they said the plants arrived healthy! After several emails they agreed to send me another coconut tree the same size as my first order (that was the only plant that arrived alive). Not surprised when the plant arrived : they sent a TINY coconut palm and covered in aphids! ! SHADY company! DO NOT order from them! I love their amazing selection of exotics suited to growing in Florida. Order processing is fast and the plants are well packaged. There are serious problems, though that will keep me from ordering from them again. First is that the plants arrive in poor condition. I've placed several orders now and have always been disappointed. The last shipment was sickly, with yellow leaves and few of those. Previous orders were mere twigs with about half the leaves missing and several of them cut by a knife or scissors. Second is there is no customer support. After spending well over $200 on orders, my last order showed their true colors. I ordered a kohala longan. After tax and shipping, this tree cost me well over $100. It came to me broken as a 12 inch twig with 6 leaves remaining. Customer service told me this was not a worry. Really??? Oh, and let them know in 2 weeks if it is dead. It is not dead. I am a first time customer of Sowexotic. I am usually very sceptic to order trees online unhealthy trees picked by the nursery or shipping problems. My first order from them didn't go to well due to the shipping problem. I ordered 2 trees which was packaged incorrectly. The trees was package with both ends too heavy due to the burlap sack which contained the dirt. The middle of the box was not supported well enough so when the carrier picked up the box from the middle, the box caved in due to the ends being too heavy. When I received the packaged it was literally folded in half. Both trees was snapped in the middle. I email Patriceo who helped me with the replacement order. She responded back to my email the next day. She made sure the package was packed correctly the 2nd time around and promptly sent out my replacement. My replacement arrived perfect and the trees was in great shape. If Patriceo had not given her level of customer service I would not be a repeat customer. Spent $76 for wild guava, bay leaf, red sugar apple. I received TINY baby plants. So disappointed. So small. I could buy a big guava plant on FB for the same amount of money. What I received is maybe 8 inches and not a 3-gallon pot. One was so tiny, you could barely see it and the other one arrive damaged and dying. Tried to contact the company several times, no one responds. Filed a complaint with my credit card company, Sow Exotic responded saying the products arrived to customer in good condition as described, which was just a outright lie on their part. Placed an on line order with Sow Exotic as i was looking for ginger and also decided to buy a few other plants. The plants were small and underdeveloped for shipping. I had also ordered an aloe vera that arrived burnt and or overwatered, all the leaves were clipped, it had spots and was turning red/brown. I sent an email with pictures about the aloe vera only and the response was " the plant looks fine". Nothing more. I like to support small businesses but these people act like they want your business until you call them out on their poor practices. Sow Exotic sent two very small, distressed Mysore raspberries to me for $15 a piece with a $10 shipping charge. I was astonished at how fragile they looked and expected much better quality for the money I paid. Perhaps I should've seen this coming, had I read their online reviews before ordering. Apparently, there have been a large number of other dissatisfied customers who have had issues with the company. The raspberries' condition worsened in the weeks after they arrived, and the two plants eventually died despite proper care. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against Sow Exotic for improperly handling my transaction but was met with denial and blame.
