I had tested out several mainland spray tanning salons leading up to the wedding with mixed results, so I was nervous how it would go. But Chelsea fit us in last minute and did an outstanding job, with different levels of tan for each of our preferences, including two of my group who hadn't had a spray tan before. All weekend we couldn't stop telling each other how perfect our tans looked and how good we felt about it. If you have an island event, book with Chelsea!! Now I just need to find excuses to travel to the island to get more spray tans with her ;) (I wanted to let people know about Chelsea so much that I am adding her business to Yelp in order to do that. my grandma went in to see bettie for a basic, simple blowout on the morning of my wedding day (july…read more19 2024). there are limited hair salon options on the island and even though the reviews for this salon were outdated, we took a chance. when my grandma arrived bettie acted like she had no idea what my grandma wanted, and she left the salon looking like a witch. her hair looked frizzy and bizarre, not at all what she wanted. a blowout is a basic staple at any salon, for any hair stylist. i wish we could have gotten a refund but no one had time to handle the situation. my grandma ended up having to get her hair done by one of my aunts. waste of $95. do not go here!

Clean, quaint and all smiles…read more While mooring at Roche Harbor Marina, I took in an afternoon massage. After a quick and easy check in, filling out the standard form, I was toured around the small, but well appointed spa. My locker was open with sandals and robe awaiting. After a quick wash down in the clean, large, tile shower, I managed 12 minutes in the steam room, a great way to relax before my rub down. Another quick wash I retired to the lounge with cucumber water, organic Tazo teas and Pellagreno. The gas log fire was blazing making it very warm but still comfortable as I hydrated over the latest issue of some Mega Yhat magazine. When in Rome. Sydney arrived right on time to lead me down the hall to our room. Dimly lit, smelling fresh and with heated sheets, I relaxed and awaited my 60 minute, deep tissue. Great work! Sydney is fantastic. When she asked if the pressure was ok, I let her know she could go harder. Politely she said that was almost as much as she could go but I could tell she was really trying. Very kind of her. What a great massage. After our well spent hour together, at least for me, more hydration in now a very full lounge until by final scrub down under the rain water bower head. My visits to Roche Harbor will now include a pop in to see Sydney. Thank you.

She doesn't do acrylics due to an allergy but if you're just looking to relax and get something simple done like gel or regular nail polish, I highly recommend going to see her. She also offers other services. She's so friendly and makes you feel comfortable. She took her time and gave great advice on how to care for my nails. Just like many business, she was greatly impacted by the pandemic and said she lost more than half of her business if not more since people didn't want to abide to the mask mandate and then did not return since so she very much appreciated our business. After she was done with my nails, she told me to close my eyes and enjoy the massage chair and just relax for a while. I appreciated more than she knows and will always go to her from now on.

The owner suggested I put my feet in the water while she picked my color, but I wish she had asked me to pick a color beforehand. I told her I wanted pink, but she ended up using red. Also, I wanted to warn everyone who's considering a pedicure there that she doesn't file nails or remove dead skin from your feet. I paid a lot for something I could easily do myself at home. Plus, I noticed she missed a lot of spots on the nail polish, which didn't look professionally done. It was very disappointing. She also asked how much I was tipping her in front of another customer and had me walk barefoot to her machine while my foot nails were drying. I would give no stars if I could, I'm definitely not going back to this salon.

The grounds -- consisting of about 4 or 5 separate buildings -- had a lovely chill vibe, lots of greenery around the compound, an indoor pool and sauna and a nice array of separate outdoor seating areas. The separate office/lobby was a large but cozy welcoming space with a fireplace, couches and coffee and a comfy spot to relax in. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.
