I received a gift card to Spa Nordstrom from a family friend, so naturally I had to check it out. Until about 2 weeks ago I had never even heard of Spa Nordstrom. As someone who (maybe too) frequently shops at Nordstrom, this blew my mind. They offer quite an impressive list of services. I was hoping to get my eyebrows done and a mani/pedi, but as I only called to book the appointment around 4pm this afternoon, they could only get me in for the eyebrow waxing. They were extremely pleasant and very accommodating when I called. Located on the second floor, directly ahead of the escalator, is a small little space that looks like it's merely a display of shampoos and facial cleansers. To the left and the right, almost hidden by displays, are two closed doors that lead to a maze of more doors that lead to relaxation and rejuvenation. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment to check it out and make sure that they had everything they needed from me, this being my very first visit here. i filled out a quick little card that asked me about my skin type, and any restrictions. The lady who was going to do my brows let me know that she was running a little behind, and offered to take me back to the "relaxation room". There she offered me some water or tea. Being that it was so hot outside, I opted for the water, but the tea that the lady next to me was drinking smelled heavenly. Again, she apologized for the delay. About 15 minutes after my appointment time, she pulled me from the relaxation room into another room set up for waxing treatments. She apologized again and quickly explained that the lady before me was having some issues/concerns with her skin, and had lots of questions after her facial. I appreciate that she took the time to answer all of these lady's questions. She quickly got to work, and I was left with beautifully groomed brows. While she was very professional and obviously knew exactly what she was doing, I felt very comfortable throughout my appointment. At no point did I feel like she was rushing to make up for lost time. I am very pleased with my eyebrows, and I'm thinking about coming back here next time I need to get them done. I am very impressed with Spa Nordstrom. I will definitely be back to try the rest of their list of services, and now that I know this is a thing, I'll have to keep an eye out when I travel. read more

Shopping at Nordstrom is always a pleasant experience. Highlight of the Somerset location is the spa. If you want to feel pampered and elegant, the Nordstrom Spa is a must. Pedicures are always our go to here. You soak in the most relaxing area, with comfortable chairs, soft lighting, and a cup of delicious tea. Extremely disappointed!! I had a hydration facial on Monday. I clearly stated that I have sensitive skin at consultation. After looking at my skin a hydration facial was recommended. I agreed to dermaplaning to remove peach fuzz and dry skin. I was a little red after facial but felt fine. The next day Tuesday started see more blotchy spots. I texted her and stated that I was having a reaction. She requested me to send her a picture which I did. She thought it was from the hydration not the product because it started in the thin skin areas. Wednesday morning woke up to eyes swollen, face puffy, hot, burning, red and prickly. I sent a text to update my situation and..... I've been ghosted.!!! I had to go to clinic and was put on steroids. Four days out still suffering immensely. My face feels like I did a face plant on a cactus! This whole experience has cost me hundreds of dollars plus my time. Facial was $195.00 plus add on of $30 + tip over 20% . Product that was recommended was$ 235.00 I did return. Driving time 2 hours. Doctor copay plus cost of steroids. Not even to mention my pain and discomfort and inconvenience. I haven't mentioned any names of the esthetician but she gave me her cell number to contact her for a different service at her salon. I use to love getting my pedicures here, but the changed the chair to something completely uncomfortable to sit in. Also use to love the sanitation they used to have with a metal bowl foot soak. My first visit here...my "level 4" spa day was an extremely pleasant experience. I had a mani/pedi and a facial. The mani/pedi was an experience like no other . They recline you so you can literally fall asleep in a very comfy "relax the back" chair. The only downside of this is that you really can't see what your color looks like until it is over My facial was also great ...wish I had bought the products they used. She informed me of all the different nail services and I chose their "top of the line, Moroccan", which added a boost of hydration, as explained"!! I received a Spa Nordstrom gift card for my birthday and booked an appointment for a Hot Stone Massage and Spa Pedicure. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because I enjoyed my massage, but the pedicure totally ruined my experience. Frist, the ambiance of this spa is terrible. For as expensive and "elite" as Nordstrom is, I would have expected a whole lot better than this dismal place. I have seen more ambient spas at the local Douglas J School. My massage was great and I liked my therapist Akira. She always made sure that I was comfortable with how hot the stones were and the pressure used in the massage. My only complaint is that the robes they give you to wear for your relaxing foot bath, was way too small. I asked for a larger size so that I did not have a huge slit exposing my leg and she gave me a towel to wrap around my waist. Please, invest in some bigger and plusher robes.... After my very relaxing massage, I was excited to get to my pedicure and continue to be pampered. It was the complete opposite of what I expected. Online it describes an hour and fifteen minute pedicure - mine was barely a half hour. My pedicurist rushing through everything and was very rough cutting my cuticles that I actually thought at one point I may have been bleeding. It was a complete waste of money, time and nothing what I would have expected. I should have gone to my normal nail salon where the pedicures are much better and way cheaper. I had my eyebrows waxed here for an event that I was attending the next day in NY. I've visited several spas and salons for brow waxing, but never have I ever received the kind of treatment I did at Spa Nordstrom. They were so accommodating and thoroughly explained each step of their particular process, while also allowing me to have a trial of what the esthetician called "Billion Dollar Brows." For $25, they were $5 cheaper than my hair salon (6 Salon), much more precise and gentle, and I was able to leave a tip on my credit card. read more

My husband surprised me with a 3-hour spa package after the birth of our first child...and it was VERY welcome. I got there and filled out an information sheet (medications, allergies, issues, etc.) and then waited a bit as I was there early. It was somewhat relaxing but not entirely what I had hoped for---I had expected more of a standalone spa (inside closed doors) but it was right off the main sales floor (well, on the second floor, but still off the sales floor) so there were people milling around and you could hear the store's music. It wasn't really overwhelming, but for being at a spa, I would have appreciated a bit more spa-like beginning. Soon I was on my way back to a procedure room to get changed into my two spa robes. I actually had no idea what spa treatments I was getting---I could have asked, but I wanted it to be a surprise. I knew it was some sort of massage and maybe a facial. My time started with a relaxing foot soak and neck-warmer-thingy. After about 15 minutes or so, it was back to the procedure room for my salt scrub massage. I have to say that was the most naked I've ever been during a spa treatment, LOL, but it wasn't uncomfortable at all (that said, I kind of lost any modesty I might have had when I gave birth five weeks ago). My only real issues with the entire massage/scrub experience was that (1) the room could have been a tad warmer (it wasn't cool or anything, just not warm enough for me, being simply covered by a sheet) and (2) I would have preferred the salt scrub to be warm, not cool. That said, she did announce what she would be doing next ("I will be brushing your skin with a brush" or "This will be cool and wet") so it wasn't a complete shock. By the end of the massage, I was very relaxed, and it was off to the in-room shower to rinse off. (It was a great shower. I want it for my house!) Then I was moved to another room for my facial. Wow, that was great. Very relaxing--I love being on a warm table covered in warm blankets. I also had a hand and foot treatment during the facial and that was pure heaven. I was so relaxed when it was over that I just wanted to stay and sleep for the next 12 hours (okay, so maybe part of that is being a sleep-deprived new parent). There was no rush for me to get dressed and leave, so I laid there for a good 10 minutes waking up and coming to my senses. I went to check out, and that was quick and easy--no one tried to get me to buy anything (something I was NOT expecting). It was also not as expensive as I had anticipated (I had no idea how much it was going to be, since my husband set it up). I was also thrilled that the package was priced with gratuities included. I have been in search of a good waxing experience for awhile. I am sick of going to salons where they wax my eyebrows over a shampoo bowl, and the person doing so doesn't necessarily specialize in waxing, facials, etc, but is more likely just a stylist that had an opening. I had a gift card for Somerset and figured my search would probably end in one of the department stores spas, so I chose Spa Nordstrom. It wasn't as nice as I expected, but it wasn't shabby either. I had to wait about 15 mins beyond my scheduled appt, but it was worth it. I saw Christiana Lee, and she did a really good job. The room had a comfy, heated table, and the room was really relaxing. They had a big, lit, magnifying mirror, so I was sure she got every little hair! I hate how right after I walk out of a salon after getting an eyebrow wax I look in my rear view view and see the stray hairs they didn't get due to dim salon lighting. Christiana pretty much followed my natural brow, since it is shaped pretty well. And she is real quick with ripping off the wax, which is good! She even found a few random hairs elsewhere on my face and took care of them for me. They charge $25, which is only slightly higher than I usually pay. But afterwards she gave me a quick little facial, and I figure for how happy and relaxed I was it was more than worth it! Excellent customer service and over all experience. I joined in on a friends spa time at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised by the staffs willingness to create a welcoming atmosphere. My friend was booked for a manicure/pedicure and I showed up with her unannounced. The spa didn't have an available aesthetician so they allowed me to accompany my friend and receive a hot paraffin wax treatment for hands and feet. I just got back from a six hour spa day from Spa Nordstrom as a birthday gift from my boyfriend. I walked in at 10:30 but my first service was late. Not a big deal as I was enjoying my cup of raspberry tea too much and I knew the roads were horribly icy this morning. The staff got to the mall late, so, things would run a few minutes late which made sense. I had a relaxing foot soak before all my services. I sipped on my raspberry tea and relaxed. I didn't know what any of my services would be or how many, so I was delighted that my first service would be a body wrap. I have never had one before, so I didn't know what to expect. Let me tell you that Amber was PHENOMENAL. She made me feel extremely comfortable, let me know what she was doing before she did it, and made me feel totally relaxed. The bed was warm - wonderful as the room as chilly! She exfoliated my body with a sugar scrub, then applied algae on both my front and back sides and did a few other things before wrapping me up. She also gave me a scalp exfoliation that smelled wonderful.I rested for about twenty minutes until she came back. After I got dressed again, Amber cleaned my room and I came back in for a one hour swedish massage. My body feels amazing - she worked the knots out of my shoulders and back and gave me relief. She calmed everything down and left me feeling wonderful. My entire body feels heavenly. She took her time, addressed my concerns, and made me feel wonderful. Next, I had lunch. I had a sandwich and salad from the Nordstrom cafe. I loved it until I realized there was chicken in it - big problem as I am a lifelong vegetarian. I didn't complain or throw up a fuss, just mentioned it and left the other half of the sandwich. Four or five members of the spa came to apologize and address the issue, but I wasn't unhappy - their response was warm and apologetic. They asked the manager of the cafe to come and talk to me. I told them this was unnecessary but they insisted! He gave me a free meal card with his signature and apologized profusely. I was happy with everything so I couldn't complain. I was impressed by their gracious attitude and excellent service. Mistakes happen, but I am not the type to blow this stuff out of proportion. Next, I had an aromatherapy facial from Tracy. I had never had one before that was this in-depth, but she made it extremely relaxing and fun. My skin looks amazing, the texture is totally changed, and she took her time to explain everything to me and listen to my concerns. She was a complete pleasure - I will return to have a facial by her again, that's for sure. I will also recommend her to anyone going to Nordstrom Spa. She and Amber were AMAZING. THEN came the tipping point. Another woman by the name of Tracy (not to be confused w/ my facialist) came to do my pedicure. Apart from the long wait, everything seemed to be fine until we went into the room to start my service. The room was so dark so I couldn't see the colors. This being my first real pedicure, I wanted to pick a nice color for myself. I turned the light on and told her I hoped she didn't mind and looked at some colors. She told me the light hurt her eyes and was very moody as a result of me turning it on. I looked through the colors and could feel that she was annoyed so I got nervous. I asked her about different colors and she turned the light DOWN! I couldn't see what I was choosing! I tried to ask her what was popular, she said all were as popular as the other!!! Good grief! I decided with a dark pink I could hardly see and sat down. I said to her that maybe I'd choose a red. Her response? "PInk or red? Which one is it? I do not know what it is that you want!" I was SO FURIOUS but I kept my mouth shut, amazed that after a day of such impeccable and considerate service, this was to follow! I sat there and she elevated my chair and began the work. She stepped out and when she came back in she saw me texting, she told me I needed to stop as if I was being rude to her! I thought this Things got even worse but I didn't complain. She made me feel awful and continued to give me rude responses throughout the rest of the pedicure. I had enough. I left the room and at reception I wanted to complain but said nothing. When I finally did, I burst into tears. The staff was upset that I was upset and gave me a tissue and tried to talk to me but I was too upset. I said I didn't know what I did to upset her! I told them for what my bf had paid, I expected better service. I was so humiliated at crying in front of them. I left the spa and walked through nordstrom crying, called my bf, and let him handle it. He called extremely upset and they seemed to understand why and said the manager would call us tomorrow. My experience happened awhile ago but still very much worth sharing. I had been a client of Spa Nordstrom for a few years. I raved and referred many clients. My friends really thought I was crazy to spend so much on an average service. I had a very good relationship with Rhonda who did my pedicures(so I thought). Being diabetic and no foot problems at all, I am very fussy about where I go and who provides my service. Rhonda always seemed happy to see me and we had no issues. One time after many, many months and appointments I tried to make an appointment and it was nearly impossible to book an appointment with her. I became suspicious and asked to speak with the spa manager. She was to call me back and when she finally did call she said that Rhonda was too uncomfortable working on me because I have diabetes. I was so upset by the way all of this was handled. I reported this to the Nordstrom General Manager who totally agreed and proceeded to bribe me with a gift card. I would never go back to this spa ever! They discriminate against people who have a medical condition. read more

I am not a fan of feet so it's an odd experience to have someone slavishly attending to mine, but the results are so worth it. Best Spa I've gone to in a very long time. I walked in the spa to get information. The associate, Veronica, was so helpful in explaining all the services. Veronica, helped me schedule a spa date, Valentine's Day, for couples pedicure. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our services and experience. Relaxing foot soak with rose petals, warm neck wrap and delicious cranberry tea. Our nail technicians were fantastic. We left the spa with Roses, candy and a Valentine's bag. I suggest an appointment, but you might be able to score a spot like me, on short notice. Atmosphere is very "spa like". Soothing new age music played at a comfortable level. Well appointed, but small, facilities. Well lit, and very pleasant and varied, but well integrated aromas. My technician's name was Kim and she was very attentive. My brother gave me a gift card for my birthday to Spa Nordstrom. The gift card came in a very nice package along with a booklet of services and price list. I have always wanted to try a full body massage and Spa Nordstrom recommended the 'Spa Nordstrom' body massage. All my questions were answered about privacy, gender of the massage therapist (I wanted a female), what areas of my body, etc. Those that I spoke with over the phone were very helpful. My appointment was the Saturday afternoon just before Mother's Day. Parking at the mall was very bad that day, so plan ahead if your spa appointment is during a busy time. Antonia greeted me with a smile and introduced herself as my message therapist. She escorted me into the back away from all the mall hustle and bustle. After slipping into the thick spa robe and slippers, she gave me a mug of hot green tea and warm foot bath - both were very welcome. Then it was on to the actual body massage. I had a few questions along the way that Antonia answered but for the most part the music and Antonia's just-right massaging kept pulling me into a state of total relaxation short of falling asleep. It was amazing. I am so happy about my first body massage experience. Antonia was awesome and I definitely recommend her! Disappointed in the outcome of my "spa pedicure". The actual pedicure itself was relaxing, the massage, etc. But I was talked into a gray color with sparkles added on top, it did not look well at all with my skin tone and it looked way too childish on. Finally, the nail polish chipped right off of all my toes but my big toes 1 week after.. i'd expect that to last longer. I should have gotten over there sooner to complain, but about 2 weeks later I did go in and mention what happened, and they offered me 20% off my next service... meh.. would expect more than that... not worth it. The atmosphere here is very nice. You definitely don't feel like you're in the mall. They soaked our feet and brought us excellent tea beforehand but overall, I felt pretty "meh" about the experience. We arrived a bit early and were advised to go shop for a while. For the price point, I prefer a place that has more to offer facility wise (steam room or something). I got flipped over about half hour into my massage.. I really do know better and should have spoken up but, oh well. At the end of the day, I've had better for less. My wife had a sore neck after a long week of work. I figured a massage would hit the spot. I called the spa at Nordstrom and spoke with Sevan the store manager. She was able to arrange for a massage for my wife that very evening. When we arrived, Sevan invited me to join my wife as she served us hot tea. Needless to say we felt very welcome. I used to love this place. Three years ago I showed up for a massage to find out that it wasn't in the books. I had to wait 20 minutes for the manager to show up. He was twenty minutes late for work (I think they gave him a heads up and told him an unhappy client was waiting for him.) He showed up with his shirt untucked, not looking very much like an office manager. He told me he "understood my unhappiness" but couldn't make the situation right. It took a whole year for me to make another appointment because I was so gun shy. But I made an appointment for a massage and was very happy with it the girl who did it. I enjoyed it so much I made another appointment in Feb. for a massage for yesterday with the same young woman. I am sorry to say that once again they screwed up my appointment. This time it was in the books, but for the wrong time. The receptionist was very sorry but asked me to sit and wait an hour and a half, when the masseuse was next available. I went for coffee and did some more shopping, determined not to have wasted 45 minutes driving there. When I went back, the receptionist did her best to make things better, going above and beyond, making sure I was comfortable. Unfortunately, when the masseuse showed up she was very short with me. She told me she "didn't know who I talked to." She never once apologized for what happened and made me feel like it was my fault. It turned what was supposed to be a very relaxing, enjoyable time into a very tense, awkward experience. It was also not cheap. For $155 I expected to be treated with respect and pampered. my feet were confused these past couple of days due to the nice weather here in Detroit so they asked for a pedicure thinking i might be bringing out those flip flops soon. so a lovely lady name Angie was to do my pedicure. she took me to the area where i was going to soak my feet in a bowl of warm water and asked if i would like some water or hot tea (green passion fruit tea for me please). she then put a warm neck wrap around my neck and i sat back to enjoy a magazine they had there. after i had a nice soak she helped me to the room where i choose a polish (sparkly red) they had some really cute colors. i sat down in the chair and she tilted it back so it's almost like your laying in bed but your feet are over the curve of the chair. she put a eye mask over my eyes so it was very calming along with the relaxing music. i have to say i enjoy this much more then talking with the person. so she cleaned up my feet and toes...gave them shape and dipped them into hot oil wax which felt nice and then gave a fabulous massage on my legs and feet, slapped on the polish (nicely of course) and i was done in a hour for a total of $55. now i have pretty happy feet:) read more

This place is truly amazing. I never go to salons to get a pedicure but I had a rough week and thought I would treat myself to something nice. They did not disappoint. The experience was relaxing and definitely worth the price. The facilities are just fabulous. So why the star deductions? A couple of reasons. The woman who did my pedicure did not stop talking. There were a couple of times I just wanted to say "just let me relax for 5 minutes" but I would never want to make anyone feel bad. The other thing I was not sold on was the fact that she kept trying to sell me things. Apparently a "birthday celebration" was going on and there was a binder of products that were going to be on sale. I chose some items and as I went to pay they woman at the register said "Oh those won't be available for 2 weeks." Well I wish they would have told me that prior to having me peruse the binder. I expected to pay a little more at the Nordstrom Spa for a shellac manicure and pedicure than other nail salons but I also expected the quality of the products and services to be that much better. I felt like I was being tossed around. The technician was not at all gentile. I left with polish all over my hands and the shellac top coat was well over the sides of my nail beds which creates spots that can snag and peel. My toe nails were cut super short and noticeably crooked. Due to health reason my skin is dry on my feet. The technician embarrassed and lectured me about putting lotion on my feet because they were dry. And now my 5 day old shellac looks like it's been on for 2+ weeks. The quality of the services and products just don't meet the prices. I won't go back. read more

I made an appointment for shellac only the same at 4:15 so I got there early around 3:55 just in case of traffic and filled a small form and sat down wasn't called back until 4:33 and the lady was pleasant and said hi and she rushed me to the room and she's like pick a color so I did and once you sit they elevate the chair and put a towel with Essential oil which was very nice, but you can't really see what the person is doing to your nails. Long story short she did the shellac and was done and I went to pay and I look at my fingers the color is dark on some nails and over applied on another nails. The room was dark you can't even see in the day light what goes on until your out the door to pay so it was too late and they were busy so I didn't say anything and paid and left, but to be honest I wouldn't go there again because I wasn't happy with my nails and if would of went to lulu nails which is a lot closer to me I could've had a shellac for $18 and they would've done an awesome job. My advice to you save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where you can see and not be blindfolded. read more

My daughter scheduled a massage for herself and a facial for me. I waited a full 10 mins. after my daughter was taken in and no one said a word to me about how long it would be. The woman who did my facial was pleasant but the terry cloth cover was so loose I couldn't get it to fasten. I had to request a pillow under my knees to support my back, again common practice in any spa. Both the woman who did my facial and the woman who provided the massage for my daughter were selling. Services were tacked on during the procedures without informing either of us of the extra cost. The massage therapist charged extra for releasing tension in my daughter's neck and shoulders ($10.00). Isn't this what a massage is for?? I get massages regularly and have never been charged extra for what any massage therapist includes in the service. Then there was an extra charge for an exfoliant on her back that took less than a minute to apply. Again no mention of the extra charge for this....$30.00! My facial was $150 but another $60.00 was added for an alpha hydroxy treatment that was applied and immediately taken off. I left with a charge of over $400 that was outrageous. I made an appointment for shellac only the same at 4:15 so I got there early around 3:55 just in case of traffic and filled a small form and sat down wasn't called back until 4:33 and the lady was pleasant and said hi and she rushed me to the room and she's like pick a color so I did and once you sit they elevate the chair and put a towel with Essential oil which was very nice, but you can't really see what the person is doing to your nails. Long story short she did the shellac and was done and I went to pay and I look at my fingers the color is dark on some nails and over applied on another nails. The room was dark you can't even see in the day light what goes on until your out the door to pay so it was too late and they were busy so I didn't say anything and paid and left, but to be honest I wouldn't go there again because I wasn't happy with my nails and if would of went to lulu nails which is a lot closer to me I could've had a shellac for $18 and they would've done an awesome job. My advice to you save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where you can see and not be blindfolded. read more

So sad and disappointment. Went for a facial and had Meredith. She seemed nice and set me up for a foot bath which was different but thought, hey why not? She said it would be 10 mins. I was sitting there for 15+ mins. Then she asked what facial I wanted and I told her I wanted one with extraction specifically and she assured me they all come with that. I got no extractions and it was so quick. She rubbed some stuff on my face a few times and that was it. I went to pay and was shocked I was being charged $180!!!!! That facial was a joke. She basically wasted as much time as she could soaking my feet rather than attending to my face. Then didn't even bother informing me of the price before she decided on the most expensive facial. So disappointed. She didn't care about giving me the best facial or my simple request, she cared about making her commission. DO NOT USE MEREDITH. Be warned!!!!!!! read more

This spa is small, and as another reviewer noted, the initial waiting area is near the sales floor. However, after the initial paperwork was completed, we were taken back to a small lounge area. The staff was extremely pleasant, accomodating and professional including going to some lengths to arrange appointments for four of us at nearly the same times. When it was time to go into the lounge area, the staff even moved in a fourth chair so we could all be seated together while we waited for our treatments. I had the spa pedicure and would highly recommend it. My mother is elderly and this was her first spa experience. She was a bit nervous, but was willing to try a facial. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to make her feel comfortable that she wants to come back soon for a spa manicure. One sister had a spa manicure and the other a deep-tissue massage and were also pleased. I believe for the size of the spa, they do a great job of providing a relaxing experience. They did recommend products, but were not at all pushy about it, which I also appreciated. read more
