Our couples massage was incredible, our therapists did an excellent job and it was so peaceful and relaxing to overlook the water from the treatment rooms. Otherwise we were a little underwhelmed by the spa amenities at such a steep price tag. Each locker room only has one steam room and one plunge pool, which would not be worth a $100 day pass if we didn't have a treatment book. Spa Oceana is my favorite spa in the Tampa/St. Pete area! It is located inside the beautiful Don Cesar resort and you receive access to their private beach and amenities complimentary with your spa service. When you walk into the spa you are greeted by a concierge's at the reception desk. A spa attendant will escort you to the locker room where you can take advantage of their hot tub, steam room and showers. Afterwards the spa attendant will escort you to the waiting area where you can indulge in a beverage or lite snacks prior to your service. Each spa room has a beautiful view that overlooks the gulf or the hotel resort. I had a 60 minute massage with Sierra. She did an incredible job! It was quite relaxing and she was very attentive to my needs. She made sure to check in periodically on the pressure of my massage along with the temperature of the bed. I will definitely be back to see her! Afterwards you can head to the rooftop and relax while you enjoy a cocktail or lunch. I would never go this spa again. I was asked to fill out a 25 page medical questionnaire for a pedicure as they said I wasn't a guest at the hotel. Ridiculous. I refused to complete after they started asking more questions than I would have answered from a visit with my doctor. They refused to provide service and said they would charge me for a no show. Paid for a wash and blow dry and left with hair that was dry, frizzy, and poorly styled. The result didn't look professional and was worse than how my hair looked when I came in. This was my first time at a spa and getting a facial. I came here with my mom for a girls getaway, when you walk in it smells amazing and everyone is extremely nice and helpful. We waited less than 5 minutes in the waiting area which is very nice and relaxing. My facial technician Katherine was so nice and gentle with my face. For my first facial she literally was the best. Lisa helped me and Mom navigate the spa and brought us up to the rooftop bar. They were both so lovely and really made our time here amazing. I'd recommend this spa to anyone. read more

Confirm, reconfirm and reconfirm again. I've been a total of 3 times and lovely experience, when reconfirming multiple times. When I haven't l, like today, there have been mix ups with the service/rooms. Unlike the first time this happened, it wasn't handled well today and I ultimately decided to cancel. I requested a specific room for various reasons, including view, and was not given that room. The therapist was lovely and understanding, her manager less so. The supervisor did initially work out a compromise, which I agreed to and thanked her for and then brought me into the original room to chastise me about all of the reasons it should be acceptable. I was really off put by this and felt as though I was being scolded, which was completely unnecessary and over the top and condescending. At this point, I just canceled the appointment and left a tip for the therapist, albeit mot as much as I would have left for the full service, but was really appalled by how this supervisor handled the situation. There is absolutely an issue with recording services appropriately, but the bigger issue is how it was handled by the supervisor. We all have bad days, and hoping that is all it was as this place typically has phenomenal customer service. I really do love this place otherwise but need to consider if I can give it another shot, making sure I confirm multiple times and perhaps confirm who is working on the day I come back. read more

My mom and I went to the spa as a treat and had a nice time. Donald gave her an amazing blow out of her hair with a great wash and pinned her hair nicely so it stayed and a wonderful staff member walked us down the fire escape so we wouldn't get our hair wet. My pedicure was overpriced and subpar. I walked away with calluses still on my heels and upset with how my feet felt. I had a 90 minute massage and Toni was awesome! I have a couple complaints: first is not having a comfortable place to relax. The roof top has beautiful views, but only a couple of places to sit that are not in the sun. The second floor has chairs but no where to lounge and relax after or before your treatment. Also the treatment room that I had my massage was way too bright! I like a darker room to be able to enjoy my massage. I found out after that there are rooms that do not have windows. I visited the Spa Oceana at the Don Cesar today for a relaxation massage and a day with my girlfriends. A group of three of us girls were looking for an awesome place for a girls day to relax, get massages and enjoy the good life. Spa Oceana ended up fitting the bill! When you arrive you are given a locker with a robe and slippers. You can hang out at the Spa facility as long as you wish if you are getting services. They have a steam room and hot tube in the girls locker room. Lots of flavored waters and teas are served throughout the Spa area and they are delicious. On the third floor they have a private Spa guest only rooftop terrace with lounge chairs and cabanas with an amazing outdoor third floor view of the gulf. It was really spectacular! This is a very luxury experience and I wish they would have served a glass or two of Champagne, it would have made the day almost perfect! A few things to note. The massage is pricy, $130 for 50 minutes plus 20% gratuity added on to the bill. They do validate parking which would normally cost $25 a day for non-hotel guests. Unfortunately with the Spa services you only have access to the Spa facilities not the two pools and hot tubs at the hotel. It is definitely something I will do again but unfortunately something I will not do frequently! I wish! read more

Tucked in the center of Don Cesar, is this beautiful luxurious spa. "Spa Oceana" - It's the best kept secret spot just past a relaxing garden, on your way to the pool. Once I was inside I was greeted by sweet cast/technician who promptly took the temperature of my forehead. Everyone was so welcoming. We all wore a mask. The spa is gorgeous with a ruby red magnificent chandelier in the lobby. I was led through to the stylist station, I was trying to take it all in at once because every where I looked it's beautifully designed, decorated and stocked. The pedicure station looked both elegant and relaxing with long white curtains from the high vaulted ceiling, sea glass bowls and relaxing massage chairs... at the end the view of the Gulf of Mexico through a picture window. I was SO lucky to have Jess Dolce as my hairstylist who recently relocated to Florida. I needed some serious repair on a hair color gone wrong by a bad copper rusty color job, mixed with new growth of grey. My hair is very difficult to color, naturally curly porous hair... When Jess told me he has been doing hair for 30 years, has owned his own salon, has done actors on movie sets...I knew I was in good hands. I was feeling emotional when he finished my hair, completely corrected, it looks so natural like it grew this way, I feel like he took 15 years off my head. The product he used is perfectly named "Love" He used a fabulous conditioning mask called "let it go" it was mixed with eucalyptus, lime, citrus and it was so therapeutic, it smelled SO FRESH and made my hair rejuvenated!!- it had a slight cool feel. So refreshed!! Jess told me all products are all natural and vegan friendly, and he sure knows how to use these products! The fragrance of a spa is still all around me as I sit now writing this review. -As I left the spa a lovely lady offered to take my photo when she saw me taking selfies of my hair!! Not at all what I expected for the Don Cesar. I expected a spa experience comparable to Four Seasons, Ritz but it don't even compare well in comparison to my lower cost spa experiences. Lounge rooms are very small and packed with people, some of the staff was rude, no real direction on where to go or what is available to do, there are people talking on their cell phones and one woman was even FaceTiming in the women's locker room. The best I can say is it was clean for an older building and it has beautiful views because of where it's located but definitely not worth the money at all. Had a better time just having lunch by the pool and that was a quarter of the cost. Don't waste money on a sub standard experience. read more

We came here for a couples massage which was lovely. Everyone was super friendly and very kind. They had tea, fruit, and such delicious trail mix. It was one of the highlights for me. First we took about a twenty five minute lavender bath which was really relaxing. We got to look out over the ocean and it was very calming. Then we had our massage. That was nice but not enough pressure. They finished with a twenty five minute foot massage or scalp massage. We both chose the foot massage and they did an exfoliating scrub which hurt the top of my feet. They looked quite nice afterwards! We also got a glass of champagne. I had a gift card here and was so glad I did because our bill came out to over five hundred dollars. Definitely overpriced. We got the same treatment from Essentials Massage on central for a tenth of the price. I guess you're paying to have it done at the Don. I went with my brother for his birthday. I purchased him a massage. He said the massage was okay. The elbow in his back hurt a bit and was unpleasant for him but over all was ok he said. I was forced to buy express pedi to be able to use the steam room while he was having his massage. There wasnt another massage at the same time for me so I got the pedi. It was not bad at all. I went into the steam room which was my main reason for going. My eyes were burning and it smelled like chlorine. Not fresh water or distilled or reverse osmosis which it should have been in order for it to be healthy for us to breath into our lungs. I asked the staff memeber what type of filtration and no one knew. One lady told me it was hard water and thats why my eyes were burning. I asked another lady who says the engineer said ot was soft water. Neither of those answers are distilled or reverse osmosis to therefore its not safe to go in there.. I would highly recommend against it. Ive been sick ever since I went there. Very disappointing after spending almost 300.00 to have burning eyes and sick and no one knows if the water is filtered or what type of filter. Highly upset. Absolutely amazing! My significant other & I decided to do the Couples Retreat package while staying at the Don Cesar (which was otherwise VERY mediocre) but this was worth every penny! It wasn't the best massage I've ever had, but that's okay, the masseuse hadn't met me before and there's always a learning curve. But the hospitality & professionalism here made it absolutely perfect. We got there 30 mins early as recommended and took advantage of the spa amenities including the whirlpool & eucalyptus steam room (WOW!) with amazingly refreshing flavored water available as well. After that warm up, we got taken upstairs where we indulged in some amazing tea before getting shown to our room. Perfect view of the beach, with a huge soaking tub and delicious champagne. It was SO nice. After a half hour we were moved to the massage tables, where both our masseuse did amazing and professional jobs. I finished off with a foot & sole massage, which was great, but if you don't like people touching your feet my SO did the scalp massage and said it was incredible. Everyone was so kind the entire time, it was truly the highlight of our trip. Cannot recommend enough! read more

So I am not one to write reviews but I thought I should warn everyone that may be thinking about this spa! We used to live in Tampa and this spa used to be the best of the best. It has SIGNIFICANTLY gone down hill since about 4-5 years ago. As you will notice all the picture are from about 2-5 years ago which is what I recall this place being in its prime. My husband and I got a couples massage and when we called they told us it would be about $250 or something around there, which they stayed was for a couples massage. So we went and when I got there the women's locker room was anything than to be desired. I went to shower before I got into the hot tub and there was mildew all over the bottom of the shower I had to use. After I quickly rinsed off to get in the hot tub and when I go to get in the hot tub there was some spots which looked like something was started to grow up the railing that went into the hot tub. Then I had to quickly close the window that pointed outside because there was a huge dumpster directly out the window for construction and there were workers out there just looking into the spa. After all of this we go into the couples massage room (pictured in the photos here) and it is nice with a nice view out the front window but then the window to the side looks directly into the crowded pool area. If you look at the angle the picture is taken on here it is to cut out the real view at the bottom which is a crowded pool. We get in there and I assumed you couldn't see in the windows and as I took my robe off I saw women at the pool all turn around and look up into the spa room. So I promptly closed the window, so no more view. Our massages actually started off great. They were thorough and attentive but about 30 minutes into our 90 minute massage they because VERY light, almost as if they were getting tired. My husband agreed he said his got very week after about thirty minutes. Then (sorry for the saga but thought it was necessary to understand) we went up to the roof that looked so great in pictures and they were totally reconstructing the top of the building so there were LOUD jack hammers and workers out there so we could even relax and enjoy the view. We were not told by any staff that this was going on or that we would be disturbed while using this peaceful area. Finally when we went to go pay they said they "combined" our tickets so that it would be $500 total and a 20% tip was already added no questions asked. So our totally for this TERRIBLE experience was close to $600. For reference we live in Baltimore now and often go to the four seasons spa in the inner harbor which has so many amenities and awesome staff and we pay $400 TOTAL for a couples massage. Ok I'm done. Please don't go here because you will regret it. read more

I love Spa Oceana! Their prices are a little high so it is definitely a once in a while treat. I have gotten a pedicure both times I've visited. If you make an appointment you can use the roof top area and spa for the entire day. So that is a big plus! The attendants when you first come in could be a bit friendlier. Also, they do add a hefty delivery fee if you order food for he roof so be ready for that. One said she would let someone know and the other suggest I use the steam room at the hotel fitness center. Not acceptable. Spa Oceana did my bridal hair and makeup and we had a couples massage after the wedding two years ago. It was a fabulous experience and this time was no different. My husband bought me a deep tissue massage as part of our anniversary stay at the Don Cesar. The spa is very beautiful and relaxing the moment you step inside. The staff is very friendly and not at all snotty, like you sometimes find at a spa. The locker rooms have gorgeous wooden lockers, large showers, a sauna, and a whirlpool. Very clean and fully stocked. The treatment rooms are gorgeous and have a ocean paradise theme, with blues and whites and starfish as decor. My massage therapist, Kelly, asked about any trouble spots and tailored my massage to get all the areas that are my most bothersome. Kelly was very polite, friendly, and professional. One of the best massages I've ever had. There is a rooftop terrace that you can use all day. They have chairs and tables and you can have food or drinks while looking over the Gulf. The prices are actually quite reasonable, considering it's a well known resort. Well, with the exception of the couples sunset beach massage, one of the most expensive in the world! read more

I compare every spa I go to with Spa Oceana so I'm often disappointed when I go anywhere else. This is the best spa I've been to. I've had massages, facials and blowouts done here and I've had great service 97% of the time. The one time my appointment was messed up, they compensated me for their error. I love the service, comfy robes and slippers, super hot steam room, cleanliness, free valet and the overall aura. I would not recommend ordering food from the roof top terrace as food takes a while to make it up and will be room temperature by the time it travels through 2-3 different elevators. Better off ordering at the pool bar or restaurant. Every now and then, they will have happy hour specials so be sure to subscribe to their emails! read more

I finally found my go-to day spa in Tampa Bay. The staff was welcoming and pleasant without being too familiar. The atmosphere was nice, but perhaps the only drawback is that the common and waiting areas aren't especially soothing or inviting. The women's whirl pool and steam room had just reopened and I enjoyed a nice soak prior to my treatment. I'm not sure I would have been comfortable enjoying those amenities (without wearing a mask) if I hadn't been the only one there at the time. I got two treatments - the customized exfoliation (60 min) and a scalp massage (30 min). They were fabulous! Just perfect. The treatment table was slightly heated to provide a nice warmth without overheating. The room had a picturesque view of the beach. Afterwards, I sipped a berry-flavored water on the rooftop patio while watching the sun worshippers at the pool and on the beach below. I will definitely be back. Tip - stay for lunch at the Rowe Bar. I enjoyed the lobster grilled cheese sandwich and a decadent mud pie. read more

Overpriced for the services and undertrained staff. I've been to spas all over the country and never have I left one in more pain than when I got there. The masseuse mostly used her forearm and elbow. Not how a massage should've be done, Hence my pain. Not a very thorough full body massage. We had a couples package. $500. We got an hour massage and a 30 minute foot massage. Was supposed to get champagne but weren't offered it until we checked out. I went to the Spa Oceana as a Birthday surprise. This was supposed to have been a day of pampering & relaxing. A thoughtful gift that was ruined due to the negligence of the Spa. I always wear a necklace given to me for Christmas with a diamond & sapphire pendant and never take it off. I left it on for the massage because it's like an extension of me. (I also have two herniated discs in my neck and ask it not be worked on). The massage therapist kept fiddling with it to unclasp it and I repeated to please, leave it alone as it never is taken off. I finished the massage and went upstairs to the roof before the facial that had been booked for me. 45 minutes later I was brought to the facial room with a wonderful aesthetician. I went to take my robe off and realized my pendant was gone. Immediately, I reported this and the search began. My pendant was never turned in & there were very limited spa goers that day due to a training taking place & cancellations from Dorian. In a written and verbal statement the massage therapist admitted to unclasping the necklace but didn't think she needed to reclasp it as she thought it was tangled. There was a male spa attendant who was asked to go to look through linens and he said "it's already gone". When he was asked by a coworker "what was gone" he delayed and said the linens. I share this because if you frequent the Don and Spa or are planning to go there-avoid the spa! I wouldn't want this to happen to you or anyone else. I've learned since all of this began that this is not uncommon and something similar happened a few days prior to my pendant being taken. Also, spa attendants have keys to lockers & can access them at anytime even if you've put a "secure" code on your locker. They know the schedule of services being rendered which gives them exact time frames for access. I spoke with senior management from WTS Management Company and they've accepted responsibility but will not replace my pendant. Please, share this with family, friends as nothing is safe whether it's with you or in a locker. If you still decide to go please, don't bring anything of remote value be it sentimental or monetary. read more

Took my fiancé here for his birthday and it was just okay. $150 for an hour of deep tissue and amenities seemed fair for a spa this well rated. We're not strangers to spas or massages and often treat ourselves for relaxation and indulgence. Hey, we work hard, right?! Anyway, this was supposed to be a special time together so I really didn't care about the price so long as it was enjoyable. We started with the locker room and whirlpool which were pretty underwhelming and, for ladies, very crowded. This is not a co-Ed spa in any way. We had to be apart for whirlpool use, which I was not made aware of at booking (would have been a deal breaker). Overall not too bad, just a little dirty and moldy in some places as other reviews suggest. I'm not too hung up on that, but it wasn't really up to par. The whisper lounge was loud, crowded, and generally unpleasant to be in. The service door slammed every time it was opened or closed, counterproductive to the name. There were way too many people and nowhere to sit. So we waited for our services sitting on tiny ottomans. The massages were great overall. Nice couples room with a gorgeous ocean view. There seemed to be a lot of noise in and around the spa, again, very counterproductive to the whole idea of having a spa. We went back to the whisper lounge for our champagne, which was the highlight, yet no one could tell me what it was called. Annoying We retired to the whirlpools separately for an hour or so to relax. There were people in and out doing tours about every half hour. No efforts to keep a low tone. This interrupted the relaxation process so much that we just left...after my champagne of course. I took a shower and to my dismay there was no combs or brushes, so I left looking properly dismantled. Our bill was as expected, but then again reviewed the spa menu online before booking, as everyone complaining about price should have done. I adore the Spa Oceana and treat myself to their services a few times a year. Services and staff are wonderful - I've had consistent amazing massages and innovative facials. Even if the spa is at "full capacity" it never feels overcrowded in the common spaces nor the (ladies) locker rooms. I wish they had more interior lounging/rest areas aside just for the one common space, since people gather here to be picked up for their treatments so at the turn of the hour it gets a bit busy and not as peaceful. read more

BUYER BEWARE - What we expected to be a pampering experience turned out to be quite a disappointment. 1) while waiting to head back for our spa treatments we were seated in a lounge area wearing nothing but robes. That should have been relaxing, but they sent a wedding party through the room and it was awkward for all parties. 2) the treatment itself was nice but quite expensive. We were fine with the price until we realized we didn't have access to the rooftop lounge area due to a wedding. 3) The front desk staff, especially Lauren, was incredibly rude to a woman they first bumped her appointment and then forgot about on the woman's birthday. Lauren claimed someone looked for her but we were sitting with her and no one came looking. My friend even went to the front desk and told them what was happening, but no one came up. Jacuzzi, amazing steam room & rooftop deck. I always get my hair colored & cut by Charlotte. She's an extremely skilled & meticulous colorist. I feel ready for a photo shoot when she finishes. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since my last visit a few weeks ago. Next time I'll get a mani-pedi too. read more
