They gone done a really good job with this mall, y'all. I appreciated it years ago visiting when I was on tour and it was basically nothing, but still a hot spot for UT students. Rundown yet popular students despite not really having anything. Now they've turned it into a real fancy violin... um, I mean mall, not sure why my predictive text thinks this mall is a string instrument but anyway. So several of my friends whom are students head down here often to hang out and get boba from the popular and over-busy Gong Cha here. So it's alive, and largely because there's a bubble tea shop and a whole bunch of TVs for you to watch in the food court. So if you're at UT and spoiled by stuff to do... this is just an extra place for you to hang out and spend money and I think it's a great location and has some cool stuff as well. Parking is awful though unless you pay for the garage.

While staying in Austin my friends and I went to this Target to get some groceries, sunscreen and such. Our first challenge was finding a parking spot that we didn't have to pay for. We could 15 minute parking and them walked through an abandoned lot to the very lack luster entrance. My immediately impression was that this reminded me of the Target from the early 1990s that competed with Kmart. The ceilings are low and the selection was limited but I would say, basically being located on the UT campus, the inventory is probably targeted to stuff college kids needs you know like ramen noodles and storage tubs. The one bright spot was that there was a Starbcucks inside and after our morning errands we were ready for coffee.

You can start with the beautiful shoes, and then move over to look at the various unique displays throughout the store. I found purses, jackets, and other items. Very difficult to leave the store without buying something, and I found something small enough to fit in my suitcase:) It appears as though they rotate the offerings pretty frequently. Anyway, here's something to know: items displayed in the window have waitlists for folks intersting in purchasing. Anytime I have been in the shop, including today, service is friendly and helpful. Interestingly, the store combines vintage items with some modern items. For example, socks, some jewelry and sunglasses are non-vintage. While the store is small, it is easy to browse. In addition, clothing and shoe items are spaced apart where you can easily view them and ferret through the racks. The value of items are reasonably priced and some items as low as $5. I did not find anything I could not live without, however, I will definitely pop in from time to time. Also, there is a fair amount of free parking. I only came to the 5th Street Target because it was the only place that had what I needed,a simple pen for black label for homemade gifts. I came against my better judgment, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. First off, the parking is a mess. You have to park in the garage and get validation to avoid paying $7. There's no handicap parking right in front of the elevator entrance either, which makes things way harder than it should be. I could have used street parking but didn't feel like being hassled by the men that wait in front of the store. Once I got inside, I started noticing a man, Hispanic, curly hair, maroon shirt, no name badge walking past me multiple times in different sections. First in the makeup aisle, then again when I moved to another area, and again a third time. It really felt like he was watching me, not shopping. He made me super uncomfortable. I was using the Target app to scan items and make sure I was getting the right prices. Just trying to get in and out quickly because, truth be told, I've been avoiding Target for a while now. When I checked out, one of my items rang up higher than what the app said. I went to Guest Services, showed the price on my phone, and was told I must've grabbed the wrong thing. I hadn't, I scanned it myself before adding it to my cart. All this over a few markers. I'm sticking with my boycott. I came here trying to support my own project and left feeling watched, dismissed, and frustrated.

I've been a long time customer of Free People for about 15 years. I love their whole vibe and…read moreaesthetic. This particular store has been better in the past but is still a good store. They used to have a sale rack which was fun to browse through for good deals now they don't have it anymore. They also had a rack for returns that perhaps weren't offered in store and only on line. That too is gone. It seems they try and direct more sales to the app or website instead of a store. However it's nice to be able to try on and see the merchandise in person since their sizing is all over the place. It's a hassle to order on line and then the size is unsuitable or the quality is cheap. The staff is standoffish and not super eager to assist in making sales. I'm a solo shopper anyway and don't need others to make decisions for me on the merchandise. I'm familiar with what type of products FP has. It's right across the street from Whole Foods and has plenty of parking.
