Bottom Line: A dumpy Target with a limited selection and very little parking but there is a Starbucks. While staying in Austin my friends and I went to this Target to get some groceries, sunscreen and such. Our first challenge was finding a parking spot that we didn't have to pay for. We could 15 minute parking and them walked through an abandoned lot to the very lack luster entrance. My immediately impression was that this reminded me of the Target from the early 1990s that competed with Kmart. The ceilings are low and the selection was limited but I would say, basically being located on the UT campus, the inventory is probably targeted to stuff college kids needs you know like ramen noodles and storage tubs. The one bright spot was that there was a Starbcucks inside and after our morning errands we were ready for coffee. read more

This is just a practice review. You can call it Target practice. Interesting location for a Target right in the middle of the Mall that was built as part of the student housing. Not bad at all if I'm honest with you. A little less well stocked, and sometimes a little pricier than your average Target, but I'm sure all the kids that live here or visit here are happy to have it. read more

This is definitely the smallest Target I have ever been in. Located in the downstairs of a street level building near the Harry Ransom Center, it is certainly a store I would not expect to find in this area. Leave it to Target to have a Starbucks in a location even this small. It actually has a larger ordering counter than I've seen at full size stores. But getting back to Target . . . this location seems to have a lot of the household goods you would need and several aisles of food, including produce and a wall with freezers. I had actually gone in looking for a card and their card section is very limited, so I ended up waiting to get back to San Antonio before I got one. This would not be my first choice for a visit to a Target location, but you just might find what you need in a pinch here. read more

I absolutely adore this target. This Target is used in case I need any last-minute snacks, meals, and everything in between. I wish that the store was a bit bigger and had a larger food selection. I usually go during the day and many of the produce and dairy items are out of stock. A perk since Target is a bit smaller is that everything is self-checkout. There are about 8 checkout stations and they all seem to go by pretty quickly without fail. I just wish that the bathrooms were a little bit easier to find. You have to exit the store and take a right to the eyebrow store that's in the building to find them. read more

Super friendly Target locations with a bunch of self check out machines. A lot of stores only have a couple and then lines get long. I've never waited for more than 1 person here since there's like 8 machines. Once a machine glitched on me and they had to reboot it and the manager was super helpful in emailing me a receipt the next day. Thumbs up to their workers! Now if I could just figure out where you're supposed to park here. read more

Wow!!!! I love this place and I'm really impressed that they transformed boring old dobie into something so nice. It's a perfect destination for students. They sell everything a normal target does --makeup, produce/groceries, medicine, clothes, electronics, etc. I'm really impressed with the selection they have! They even have a Starbucks here. I deff see myself coming here all the time. It's so convenient. They have lots of self check out counters for a speedy checkout process. Just a disclaimer: this place is obviously for college students so there aren't many things for like... children like toys and baby food so beware if you are going to this target for those type of things. read more

While walking on the Drag a saw the big Target logo on the old Dobie Mall. I crossed the street and noticed a mural on the side with a sign to take selfies. The corner entrance has stairs leading into the store. Once inside there is a Starbucks and CVS and the rest of the store is like a mini Target geared more to a grocery store for students who live nearby. It is cramped but can easily move around. Excellent idea to have a grocery store nearby for students to walk to. read more

Having a new Target in a central part of Austin is all great news! Except that this Target is not made for Austinites. It's made for the UT students only (especially for those without a car). This explains why there's no kids clothing, for example. Imagine a Walgreens. Turn half of it into a grocery store. Then a quarter of it for the CVS pharmacy. And the last quarter, split it between clothes and home stuff. And in the open floor plan, stuff a small electronic section. Yes, this Target has "everything" but the variety is very limited. I wouldn't drive out of my way to this Target, especially if you have to pay for parking to get to this convenience-store of a Target. I did like that the Target isn't crowded, and that the check-out is pretty easy as it is all self check-outs. And yes, there's a Starbucks. But there is also a Caffe Medici a block away and across the street, and Square Peg Coffee on the other side of the building in the Catholic Neuman Center's parking lot. But I'm still hoping that the new tenants that have yet to come into this revamped Dobie building will give me other reasons to give this locale a visit. This is NOT a SuperTarget. it's a minitarget with NO parking anywhere, very limited inventory.... it sucks.

There is a Target on campus and it's just as weird as it sounds. I'm sure this place is great for the college kids. They have a bit of everything but not much of anything. It feels like a glorified CVS or Walgreens and not your typical Target. I'm fine with all the reviews 5 star and above, it's a place that can fill a need for you and that can change your experience. I just want to warn people that this place isn't a Target, Target. It's a mini-version and is not somewhere you want to travel to if you don't live on Campus. You'll be disappointed if you expect to make this your Target. They don't have alcohol, btw. read more

This is the most unique Target that I've ever been to. It's made specifically for the student population, and it has everything you could possibly need while living on or near campus as a student. The store is always clean, shelves are always stocked, and they require everyone to wear a mask in order to enter the building. I definitely appreciate the mask policy, and I've seen them actively turn away older shoppers that refuse to wear a mask. They aren't messing around when it comes to the safety of their shoppers, and I very much appreciate that. I also love that they typically have cleaning products and sanitizer in stock. If you live on campus, you honestly can't have enough. By far my favorite Target, and I am looking forward to them decorating the store for the holidays. I've been here around 10 times and every time I go, the quality is always so bad. Much of the items aren't even stocked, and the service is so, so, so bad. I tried returning a fan that I bought a couple hours ago, and they had to ask for my ID, spending around 45 minutes just figuring out how to return my item. How do the manager, and 2 employees not know how the return procedure is? I recommend not going here at all. Seriously. It is so bad. I downloaded this app just to leave this review. I work for the University, and when I heard that we were getting a Target across the street inside the Dobie a mixture of emotions hit me. First emotion: complete elation. FINALLY someplace besides the CVS where I can go to get stuff I need or wander around aimlessly when bored. Second emotion: dread. Only because I now have to watch how much I spend there... because I will be tempted. This little Target is just that: little. But despite its size, it has impressed me a lot. They have a little selection of clothes, groceries (including fresh vegetables and fruit), a pharmacy, and an home/electronics section. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a little spot where you can buy pet food and cat litter, which is great because now I don't have to stop on my way home to get anything like that. The prices mostly reflect what you would see in a regular full sized Target so you don't feel cheated either. I'm REALLY glad that they decided to put this little Target downtown. Now I think they should turn that Scientology building into an HEB... just a suggestion... read more

This place is godsend, I don't understand why the other person reviewed this target like it is supposed to be a perfect target mega store. This place is ON the UT campus. Use common sense to know that this is for college kids. Also, the fact that it is branded as a target mini store might give you a clue as well. But really? Limited variety?? I found raw meat and a Nintendo switch in there. I think that's a pretty good variety for a target the size of a dollar store. Probably the smallest but most convenient Target I've ever been to. Located just off The Drag, this one-story store includes beauty products, a solid selection of groceries including some fresh fruit and vegetables, home goods, cards, etc. They also have a mini Starbucks serving up their goods right inside the store. I stopped in a few times to purchase miscellaneous goods like gum, contact lens solution, toothpaste, chips, and chocolate. They have eight or so self-checkout lanes along with a register monitored by an employee, which translates into virtually no lines unless the store is packed, which it never was when I was there. read more

I must say I was pretty impressed by this target. For being literally on campus, I was expecting something much smaller scale. However, I was pleasantly surprised that they have everything from groceries to clothing to decor here. They're definitely giving everything else around the area a run for their money. Whoever did their space design deserves a thumbs up - not sure how they managed to get a full sized target down there. If you don't live on the UT campus or the areas surrounding, it might be a little difficult to get to. There's street parking on the other side of guad if you go down 24th street. There's also parking on University if you can find it. If all else fails, there's a parking garage if you drive a little bit closer into campus on the other side of the building. The only thing it's missing is the food court. Even though I was sad that one of my favorite sushi places had to close to make room for this space, I will say it's a nice addition to the campus. read more

This Target is conveniently located next to campus. It's an urban-style layout so the store itself is small and stocked with popular items. However, they manage to cram a significant variety of options into the small space so you might be surprised with what you find. There's a mini grocery store where you can find fresh fruit and baked goods. Most of the checkout is self-processed so be prepared to either wait in line for a person or DIY. read more

Hard-pressed to really consider this a Target. No real order for item placement it seemed. Not quite what what we expected or have experienced. It was also underground and looked like some sort of indoor bargain market. It's located in Downtown, Austin and parking there is consequently no parking garage. Open parking spots were difficult to come by the evening we went. I couldn't find any hand wipes and this was BEFORE the coronavirus scare drove people to crazy hoarding of supplies. read more

I've always been a fan of Target and this one is no different! There's nothing like it this close to the UT campus and it's got everything like groceries, clothes, and electronics. There's even a Starbucks inside. They've got a lot of self-checkout machines so it's pretty efficient. Parking would be tough but I always walk or bike here anyways. read more

I work at UT and this little Target is a God sent!! Like it is seriously my go-to. Some things are more expensive than a regular Target, but the convenience is worth it. They also have a Starbucks where you can use your rewards, which is nice since you can't redeem rewards anywhere else on campus. I'm basically here everyday during lunch. read more

Check prices on Target's website before buying anything from this location!! I've gone in so many times and found that they up-charge all of their items. My most recent example is a bottle of lotion that cost $8.99 online and $10.59 in the store. Do your research and then ask the employee to adjust the price for you at checkout. I'm hoping this will spread the word so they'll stop scamming poor college students. read more

I walked in wanting a cute skirt for clubbing 3 mins before they closed and still, three ladies in the clothing department were genuinely looking for something for me and only because of them did I leave wearing something making me feel more confident than when I came in. I am so impressed. This place is everything Target stands for and the women closing tonight should be congratulated for being the model of this business. read more

Major competition to the CVS. It has a much greater selection, and is super convenient. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the prices aren't uniformly cheaper, when comparing items that both CVS and Target have. read more

This is Target's urban store design--it has nothing to do with specifically being near the university. They take money from anybody who comes in the door, including people who are not enrolled at the University of Texas. The University of Texas does not own Target and cannot decide who spends money in it's stores...or what the store stocks. read more
