He was very open and honest about the time he needed, he delivered on time and complete, and even called me back to offer to put on my new plates. I've taken my car to Wayne in the past for oil changes and regular maintenance. He is friendly and honest. I recently had an issue with my 2013 Nissan Rouge in that the engine light had come on after a trip to the cottage. I was able to leave my car for a few days as I was out of town on business. When I called to check on the status of my car Wayne informed me that the strangest thing had happened, a bug had gotten caught in one of the sensors and shorted it out. They removed the sensor, cleaned it out and re-installed it. Everything is now working fine, rather than just telling me that they needed to replace the sensor they did everything they could to save me money from unnecessary repairs. read more

Warning. I dropped my car off on a Wednesday to say it would be ready Friday at 12 noon. Thursday evening got a call from the owner asking for it to be extended to Saturday. He wasn't able to give me a straight answer or quote of how much it would cost. The owner talks in circles and blames "being busy". If you're busy then let a customer go elsewhere. I asked for my car back and he said he needed to put it back together (even though I never gave the go ahead to take it apart). He then proceeded to charge me for the assesment - which he never gave me. Untrustworthy. Over priced. If you can go elsewhere, do so. read more

UPDATE: Below I mentioned another auto shop, which I went to to do my repair in the end. Here is the comparison. Spadina: Over 2 day span to get results of what is wrong with my car, then says the parts are $300 each, so a total of $600 for one side then labour + tax. Says the parts will take 2 days to arrive, then about 2 days to install. So overall - expensive diagnostic, over charged on parts, length of time to get parts unnecessary. TOTAL: 5-6 DAYS for everything all said and done. Which would mean I would have to rent a car for that length which would cost another $200. Other auto shop (wayyyyyy better): 1st day: inspects car, tells me whats wrong (same diagonistic as Spadina). I come back in a few weeks when noise was worse. Make an appointment. Come in for that time, he orders the parts right there and then. I take my car out for a drive to get the noise to happen. Come back in 2 hours and the parts are there. I got 3 parts for $475 compared to $600 for 2 parts and the exact same quality. Fixes my car within 4 hours in the same day and I get to pick up my car the same day. Came in at 12noon and got my car back at 4pm same day. TOTAL: 2 DAYS Overall: Seemed knowledgeable, way too busy of a shop so things are delayed including just finding out whats wrong, and pricey compared to other shops when it comes to diagnostic/inspection of vehicle and parts. And I felt rushed. Positives - Nice guy. Explains in detail and physically shows you what is wrong and what needs to be repaired. Seems to be knowledgeable. Negatives - Too busy of a shop so expect to wait a few days to just be told what's wrong with your car. A job that is told to be 3 days, easily turns into a week since you aren't told what's wrong with the car until 2 days in. They need more employees. - Also, I'm personally not a fan of how this shop runs. I like going to a shop, having the mechanic look at it and have the mechanic then tell me whats wrong on the spot. This shop runs with mechanics doing the work, writing a report, then the adviser reading the report, then contacting the customer. Takes too long. - Everywhere else I go, I make an appointment (like I did here) but instead, they look at my car at my appointment time and tell me what's wrong within the hour. Here, you drop off the car, be told they will call you but instead you have to be very persistent about getting an answer since they are so busy and don't call you back. I don't like how that's done. When the issue has been figured out within the hour (which is what I was charged for), then I should be given the options right away so the process can begin a lot quicker and I'm not out of a car for a long time and I don't have to rent a car if it can be avoided. - If a shop has too many projects at the moment, they should turn customers away instead of making them wait days to find out what's wrong because they're too busy to deal with all the issues. Don't take on more car projects than you can handle. Or just be honest and up front that it will take a while since you have so many other projects. - I think if the shop wasn't as busy (as in had a lot of cars to repair already), my experience would have been better and it would have gone smoother except for the part prices. Pricing: - Yes things are expensive any shop you go to in Toronto and it's how it goes BUT what I realized from going to Spadina and another shop (I'll call it Shop A) was there are better options. Shop A (I won't say the name but if you want to know inbox me) charged $41.99 for a diagnostic. This included lifting the car up, inspect the car in all ways (without taking things apart) and oil up any pieces that may be causing the issue before doing anything major. I was also there during the inspection and was able to be by the car and physically shown the issues. That's a great deal - they charge for the service rather than by hour. They charge by hour only when they have to fix the problem ie. change out parts. Now at Spadina Auto Shop, I had to pay the hourly rate just for a diagnostic, which cost me $88 all said and done, and they did exactly what the other shop did. Shop around first for diagnostic/inspection prices before choosing your shop. Hope this helps :) read more

Got a quote here and everything was basically double the market price. Asked him about it and he said he had to pay his guys and his rent is high and charges 100$ an hour. I went to another place closeby and everything was done same day and for half the cost, couldn't believe how much money he was charging me for an oil change(100) and for a safety test (135) and running his machine to check my engine light (35). I got it all done with half the cost at another spot closeby 75+80+20. Guy was nice though, just a rip-off. read more

I asked this jerk to lend me a tool just too tighten up a bolt and he wouldn't even do that. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Way over priced. My experience. Dropped off the car on a Friday, got a call back on Monday telling me it would take 3-4 days, and he'd have it to me by Friday. Quoted me at less then 800. Went in on Friday to see if I could pick it up. He said it wasn`t ready and it was more of an inconvenience to him than me that it wasn`t off the lot yet. Got it back on Wednesday next week another $200 added to the job. So both assurances he gave me he went back on, with no professionalism (slap my handshake like we were in high school) and no apologies. read more

I was extremely impressed with Spadina Auto. It totally has a mom and pop shop feel to it. I was given amazing prompt customer service. They went above and beyond the call of duty. I had to get my tire special ordered in and it still only took 2 days. When I showed up to get my tires switched they said it would be about an hour(just switch) to hour and half if I wanted them rotated.... they had it switched, rotated and test driven within an hour. I've had mixed experiences with Spadina Auto. The first time I brought my car there, they did good work and fast and for a reasonable price. The second time, same thing. The third time, they kept my vehicle for six months, put the wrong part in it (and just tore my car apart to make it fit), and then charged me thousands of dollars for a job that should have cost five hundred. Being new to Toronto and needing to have my car plated I was faced with the task of finding an auto shop that would perform my provincial safety inspection and (hopefully) not rip me off. I took a look on Yelp and was led to Spadina Auto. I was definitely not disappointed. The positive reviews were SPOT ON. Wayne is excellent and took the time to talk me through what the safety inspection entailed. He definitely knows his stuff and runs his business in an honest way. The inspection price (including emissions) ran me about $120. The inspection was pretty timely and nothing groundbreaking came of it. The verdict was that I needed some small break work (not a shock since I'd been a while since I had anything done to mine). As far as I'm concerned Spadina Auto is my go-to shop in Toronto and I'll be taking my car there for whatever it needs. The shop charges fair prices, Wayne knows his stuff, and the business is run in an ethical way. If you need an auto shop definitely go here. You'll be in good hands! read more

I believe my search for a reliable, trustworthy mechanic is over! I recently took my '01 Corolla to Spadina Auto as it was making horrible noises. The last place I took it to quickly told me I was looking at thousands of dollars in repairs. Wayne suggested starting off smaller & less expensive, with over 200,000kms I don't expect the car to run like it did when it was new, but Wayne and his team sure got it close. I got caught with my summer tires still on last week for Thursdays big snow storm and was frantically calling auto shops to get an appt.. thankfully, these guys helped me out and got my snow tires on same day. Spoke to the owner for a bit when I picked up my car after work.. seems like a nice guy. I went in with a 97 Jetta and was looking to have a safety and emissions test done on it to get it insured. After taking a look at the car he advised me how much it would cost to get it road worthy and gave me lots of advice to help me make the decision to either keep it or scrap it. Another mechanic could have taken me on a ride and I would be broke because of it. I Always got great service never had to go back to fix the same problem. He did what he could to keep my truck on the road as it got older even rebuilt my windshield washer motor saved me three hundred. Finally told me that this 1998 trucks life is over. Wayne's done an amazing job maintaining my cars, most recently my little B200 Turbo Benz. I went for it and I gotta say, he really has earned these great reviews. I dropped my (13+ year old) van off and within a few hours he called me back to come check it out, which was no problem as I lived 2 minute away. Wayne walked me through everything that was wrong with it and made 110% sure I understood everything that need to be fixed and why. Excellent customer service across the board - actually, the best service I've ever had at an auto garage. I'm glad I read these reviews and chose to come here. I brought my new (9 yr old) car in for repair and was called back for a consultation, something totally new to me. Wayne actually gave me a tour under the car and walked me through what repairs were important now and what could wait. Getting to see for myself made all the difference - no mechanic has ever taken the time to explain to me why something is important, or been honest enough to say 'save your money - this can wait.' Turns out my exhaust is holding out fine considering the age, it's that the engine was misfiring. I signed off on the work he proposed doing and off they went (I confess I later looked it all up online and yup -- the symptoms and work recommended all checked out). I had to get my Sienna E-Tested to renew my plate stickers. I called these guys and got very friendly guy on the phone. I made an appointment for the next day. Brought it in at 9:30 and had it returned to me an hour earlier than quoted. Wayne and Yogi are really good guys. They only do what you need. No upsell. When I thanked them for being so good, Yogi said "We have to do quality work, we know everyone in the neighborhood by name." He seemed to really appreciate my thank you. He said "It feels nice to get a pat on the back." I've been to a lot of garages over the years. This place by far has my vote now.
