We ended our night playing yard games outside and making s'mores around a fire. It was a great time! Larson's Barn has a beautiful dance floor that we used for our first dance. Kathy is very easy to work with, even when we got there late to set-up the day before. There was a frost warning the day before the wedding and Kathy was sure to cover all of the flower beds. The next day although jack frost had come through all of the plants and flowers looked great. Since our entire group was from out of the area we also rented the small cabin and the under the barn apartment for the weekend. It was great for all of the bridesmaids and groomsman to be onsite, less stressful for everyone. We even had a hairstylist come out to the barn to do the girls hair. Everything was very convenient for being in the country of MN.

This biggest frustration was my sister paid a pretty hefty price for this place for the weekend and we couldn't get in until noon the day the wedding...why you ask, because they were showing it to another couple after we spent the entire day before decorating it for my sister's big day...I would not recommend this place to anyone

IRA is the Itasca Recreation Association, a civic group started many years ago to build an arena to support youth hockey. The locals have done a great job! You are greeted with boozhoo, a welcome greeting in Ojibwe and enter a large common area with access to both rinks, bench and booth seating, banners of local hockey heros and concessions. The main arena is a gem. Wooden beams, championship banners, seating on four sides with one end viewing from heated second floor lobby and large posters of local kids who played college, NHL and Olympic hockey. If this rink does not impress you, nothing much will. Rink two is a standard second rink in a rectangle building likely also used for non-hockey events, trade shows and conferences. It's heated for fans and has much smaller bleachers than rink one. Rink three is the covered outside rink. This is a real beauty. Stands, fresh air, wind and sunshine, access to indoor arena, lockers and other arena amenities. I wish MN had more of this covered yet open ice. For the hockey fan, this building is packed with trophies, some really old, and also a lot of great history. Not just the posters of NHLers from GR, but history of the arena, and those who built this monument to youth activities.

The value at MN National might be unmatched. I highly suggest doing a stay and play. Its extremely reasonable on price, and the entire facility treats you like family. There were two holes where there was a small lake where there wasn't supposed to be a lake due to rain runoff and poor drainage but other than that, greens were smooth and rolled true, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Flowers throughout the course were lovely. We played the forward tees which was just under 5200 yards which is a good distance. It was a challenging course. The back nine especially, had a lot of swamps or fescue to hit around. I wasn't in the sand a lot but lost a few balls to woods and swamps. Carts had GPS which I like for yardage because I don't have a scope. Despite the cart-path-only directive, we played the front nine in about two hours and the back slightly longer than that. The course was packed. Mondays are reduced price days so lots of people taking advantage of that. They have a beautiful bar/restaurant facility. At the turn, they have a nice stand with hot and cold food and beverages. We found all staff to be friendly. Great experience.
